This is a new peruvian in the Jackson Heights area. I met the owner of Lima Pollito that used to be on Roosevelt and he told me that his son opened this wonderful place last year. The food was average more or less like Lima Pollito but the service was slow and for such a huge place they only had two waiters on the floor. The dessert was better than the food and too bad they don’t serve wine or beer yet. Having seafood without any liquor is hard to swallow.

My family and I tried this place last night. We are Peruvian so we have tried all the Peruvian restaurants in Jackson Heights and this is by far the best. What a gem! The food was fresh and delicious. The ceviche was nicely made with fresh fish. The lomo saltado had the right seasoning and nicely executed and the seco de cabrito was nicely seasoned and well cooked. We all loved our dishes and we are definitely going back. If you want to try well executed Peruvian food you MUST try this place.

I love the food from here and have had an amazing waitress who is always check-in w us BUT today was just insane. My mother, brother and I got to the restaurant at exactly 2pm made our orders, as we know when its a holiday it might take a little longer we can understand yet our food never arrived. We left the restaurant at 3:15pm w an empty stomach at the end I told them I would pay for the Chicha I had order and as a courtesy I would think they would just let me leave, instead I paid $ 17 dollars and change for the jar. Really disappointed that my mother wasn’t able to eat with us on such important date.

Lima Restaurant and Bar clearly caters to the upscale diners in Jackson Heights. There’s a ton of Peruvian restaurants in the area: I counted three in 2 blocks. This place is the most upscale of the lot. Visually, it’s chic and dark. Somewhat nightclubish. The waiters are uniformed in crisp black uniforms. But also, the price point is adjusted upwards, according: It’s one of the most expensive restaurants in the vicinity. I daresay, slightly overpriced. It’s no surprise that Lima R&B was empty at 3pm. It’s an odd time, and they probably don’t do much lunch business anyhow. I envision this place hopping at night, filled with drunk hot Latinas in short dresses or painted-on jeans, downing cocktails to loud TV or loud music. But this is just my imagination(or, perhaps, my fantasy). Service could be better. After our meal was served, it was difficult flagging down a waiter or busboy for water or an extra spoon. There seemed to be too many waiters for such an empty restaurant, but they were all«hanging out» near the bar — nobody came by to ask us how our meal was or to refill water. My lamb seco hardly had any salsa — I had trouble flagging someone over to ask for more seco, and once he did come over, he informed me I couldn’t have more salsa. For $ 15 por plato, I deserve more salsa if I ask for it. However, the owner came by to chat. He was a wonderfully friendly and jovial man, and delightful to speak to. I loved talking to him, and it was good Spanish practice for me. The waiters and busboys were all very friendly and good-natured, too. On to the food reviews. Cancha: D Much too dry, and tasted old. A good restaurant should serve cancha fresh out of the oven and still warm. Aji Verde Salsa: D Much too picante! I love picante, and love aji verde salsa, however, this salsa overpowers any food because it’s MUCH too spicy. It’s supposed to complement and add flavor to food, not beat the food up! Chupe de Camarones Sopa: B+ The soup is flavorful, yet uncomplicated. Creamy, yet not heavy. The shrimp were impressively large, and I couldn’t detect the tell-tale iodine flavor of southeast Asian shrimp. It’s hard to believe, but I wonder if Lima R&B uses expensive Gulf shrimp. If so, then they should advertise that fact, because few restaurants do. Seco de Cabrito: B– The lamb was so tender that I used my fork to cut it. The lamb is also succulent: it tastes very«lamby»… no mistaking it for beef, which means it’s high quality meat. The whole stew is surrounded by a bed of bean stew. The whole dish would’ve been an A– or even A, except for the fact that my seco hardly had any salsa de seco. There’s a Unilocal picture of the seco here, and I’m totally jealous. He got lots of salsa! Why didn’t I get any? And why did the waiter deny me when I asked for more? Chaufa de Pollo: A– We got this for my 1 year old daughter and she loved it. The chaufa here is quite tasty. It was cooked with just the right amount of soy sauce — it tasted of soy, but wasn’t overly salty, which chaufa can be. The chicken was soft. Great dish! Tallarines Verdes de Entraña: A Impressive dish! The skirt steak bursts with flavor and was cooked perfectly, despite the waiter not asking us how the steak should be cooked. The spaghetti was delicious — it was cooked to softness and the pesto was fresh and vibrant. Next time we come, the spaghetti is perfect for our 1 year old daughter. Recommendations: 1. Please ensure the cancha is fresh. Warm would be nice. Tone down the aji verde salsa. 2. Serving complementary cancha and verde salsa is great, but how are we supposed to eat this with only a fork and knife? Please give us a spoon! 3. You have an impressive number of waiters and busboys who are friendly and courteous. I shouldn’t have trouble flagging a waiter down when there’s 4 waiters talking at the bar. 4. Please serve the seco with more seco. I hardly had any sauce! 5. If a customer wants more sauce on his seco, for the price you charge, the waiter should say«Yes, sir. Right away.» Not«No, sorry, I can’t give you more salsa.» 6. I understand this is a new restaurant and the kinks are being ironed out. This restaurant has potential. If you invite us back to re-review the restaurant, it would be our pleasure to redo the review.

This restaurant was a big disappointment. The drinks were bad, highly overpriced and were made not at the bar but in the kitchen. Definitely not going back for drinks. They need to work on their drink selection.

Came here for Valentine with my boyfriend and it was an amazing night. The atmosphere of the restaurant was so romantic and the food was delicious. They had just opened a week and the place already had a decent amount of customers. The service was fantastic and we left the place very pleased, definitely will be back soon :)

If you’ve been to other Peruvian restaurants you’ll see the difference. The décor and location is great! But service is mediocre as is the food. I tried to make reservations for a large party but when I called they said it was ok to walk in luckily for a 7 pm dinner they were very accommodating. The restaurant is rather large. Fast forward to the food. Combos — we asked the waiter what he combo consisted of, he wasn’t too sure but mentioned the basics. We ordered the main combo, choritos, pescado a lo macho, lomo. Everything was a bit dry including the chicken in the combo. Salad was way to spicy not to mention the lettuce that was served was the old and last part of the head. The meal just wasn’t appetizing. The fish dish was bland we had to put hot sauce to be more edible. The lomo was the only dish that didn’t need to be «fixed» to become more edible. I’ll give it another try in a couple of months but for now I was very disappointed, other Peruvian restaurants top this one on food quality.

Great food and service! We had fried calamari and potatoes with cheese to start, which were awesome. We then shares pollo saltado and the lamb dish — excellent. We finished with donuts with honey which were to die for. Servers were great and owners very nice. Also beautifully decorated for Christmas! Definitely will be back.

Food was good. Service was TERRIBLE!!. Is sad see how a new restaurant is going to be out of Bussines soon because the terrible service. Owner need to understand that waiters needs to provide good and fast service. This is not happening here! If you want to wait for your food for long time and never been checked for the waiter for drinks or something else you want to order then go There.

Food is really good. I got a small(good for two) Jalea and an appetizer Anticucho. Both the entrée and appetizer came at the same time. Not many people yet comes in the restaurant. For not many people in the restaurant, wait service should be more attentive(like my glass of water being filled). Décor is nice. As of today, they don’t have a liquor license yet.

This place is great! I tried the Seco de Cabrito and it was nearly flawless! Even the presentation was good. Had it with a Chicha Morada that tasted home made, and had to test the Alfajores as I like to do in all Peruvian restaurants; it was freshly made as well! The server was very attentive, the hostess was as well and I can’t get over that Seco de Cabrito. I’m definitely coming back to test the Lomo Saltado and then the Cebiche!

It’s really unfortunate that such a great spot could turn me off on the first visit. My two friends and I got seated rather quickly and there were really only a couple of other patrons. As we sat, they placed the eating utensils and plates in front of us & I should’ve taken the dirty plate given to my friend as an omen. From there. Our drinks arrived 10 minutes after ordering which I didn’t think anything of. We order the appetizer which arrived 20 minutes after that. But the worst part came when we waited over an hour to receive our entrees. Just as I was about to ask for the check, the waiter comes out with our food. No apology. The food is great. But no one should have to wait that long for food, especially if you’re trying to create a clientele. Want Peruvian food? Head to pio pio or pollo inka.
