I had to write this review based on my great experience at this restaurant. I didn’t want to cook on a friday night so I decided to give this place a try, oh boy how excited I was! I arrived and it was a little packed on a friday night like it is to be expected on a friday night at any good restaurant. I ordered the barbecue chicken and it was BEYOND delicious! The sauce, the flavor, it tasted so fresh. The rice, veggies, potatoes chips were to DIE for. Mind you, the chef was the same one that cooked in Antonio’s Restaurant(located in Oceanside) before they changed owners again. The service was excellent and made sure I was happy with my food and drinks! Please give the sangria a try! I will be back and for sure will recommend this place to everyone. The chef makes her wonderful flan and doesn’t taste like the ones from restaurant depot. I could tell by my first bite. Don’t miss this great little spot.

Getting my car detailed across the street from Flamingo so I figured I would go and have an early lunch. Tried the door still not open at 11:40. So my review is not for the food which sounds awesome but for the fact that they are not open on time. Posted hours are open at 11.

The food here is absolutely amazing. The food is so authentic and the staff are extremely kind and helpful. They really are so helpful and the restaurant is very homey. I definitely recommend making your way to the Flamingo, once you head there your first time you’ll be back.

It’s been a long time since I wrote a review. Here goes: The food here is incredible. Great flavors, huge portions and friendly service. I got a buzz on my 3rd sip of sangria. Hehe. To start, I ordered calhos. It was big enough that I could have ordered it as a meal. Delicious and hearty with a slightly spicy broth, perfect for a cold winters day. Next, I went all out and ordered the steak Portuguese style(medium rare). It was cooked perfectly. I would no doubt eat here again and recommend this restaurant to everyone.

My group and I ate here on Friday, July 31st. Since the restaurant does not yet have a website, I posted the Menu and several food photos which others may find useful. Upon arrival, several of us had the Red Sangria. We watched how the pitcher was prepared and saw there was no skimping on the triple sec and/or brandy. It was a great Sangria, the very best I have had on Long Island. There were gratis freshly cooked and delicious thin sliced fried potato chips to much on with the sangria. On to the appetizers: the Flaming Portuguese Sausage(a BIG one) was superb and large enogh to feed three people. Another appetizer the group enjoyed was the shrimp wrapped with bacon. Notable entrees included the Paella(large portioned with lobster, not dry and cooked in a fresh tasting tomato based sauce), the Mixed Grill, the Pork Chop(perfectly cooked as ordered and served with yellow rice and beans), the Spare Ribs(tender and very well seasoned) and the Seafood with Rice. Members enjoyed the Flan and Chocolate Cake. Service was friendly, prompt and efficient. Prices were extremely reasonable and portions were huge. Our host, Tony, made us feel very welcome. He put the punctuation point on a great evening with a complimentary Port after dessert drink for our group. A restaurant that is worth returning to soon.

Flamingo tapas bar & Grill café, which opened last year, is the new restaurant of the original owner of Antonio’s Churrascaria. This place is a hidden gem literally as it’s tucked away on a nondescript block located at 3902 Long Beach Road in Island Park. It’s easy to miss if you’re not looking for it. The signage has a picture of a pink flamingo with a sky blue background. He’s brought along with him his classic recipes such as the whole BBQ chicken for two and homemade hot sauce. My fiancé and I found it one day while we were looking for a hardware store. We had dinner here and everything was cooked to perfection. They start you off with a fresh crisp salad of lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes and sliced red onions drizzled with a yummy vinaigrette. For an appetizer, we went with the Portugese sausage flambéed table side. This was amazing. For entrees, my fiancé ordered the BBQ chicken and I chose the grilled skirt steak. They were cooked to perfection. The chicken was delicious while my steak was tender and flavorful and was prepared a perfect medium-rare. My entrée was served with a portion of tasty caramelized onions and a side of black beans. The chicken comes with yellow rice, mixed vegetables and a side of delicious crispy potato chips, which are made even better if you dip them into the hot sauce. He makes his own hot sauce. It’s incredible. The next time I come here I’m going to buy a jar to take home. The owner, Antonio, is a great guy who takes pride in what he serves to his customers. He’s friendly, personable and makes a great sangria. While the restaurant is small and cozy with a few tables in the back, it has a spacious bar great for grabbing a few drinks with friends or watching a sporting event on the huge large screen TV. Food is served at the bar as well. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

This place is great. A real hidden gem. The owner was the original owner of Antonio’s on Long Beach RD. Food is delicious and inexpensive. Absolutely worth a try.
