Taco Bell looks fresher than this! Went in around 5pm afternoon on a weekday to try out a new taco place, and although the customer service was nice for a fast food joint, the food was mediocre at best. Ordered two hard shelled beef tacos because they ran out of everything that’s in the subway lookalike stand. At 5 pm you shouldn’t have barely any food left behind your counter to serve people. The server dug out what little was remaining from the little buckets, very unappetizing, and plastered the ingredients into my tacos. The first taco had more lettuce and meat, but the second one had disproportionately little of either because they ran out and decided to not refill their ingredients since there were no customers behind me. A good way to save for a restaurant, a bad way to get a customer to come back. Taco fillings were so sloppily placed oil ran down the sides of my tacos before I even started eating it, making a huge mess. Everything tasted bland, I will never be going back there again.

It was ok, nothing fancy. There was guy that was new and in training and I thought that the manager was being rude. I got the food home added some Taco Bell mild and Hot sauce to them and ate them up. I ordered the 3 crunchy tacos comes with a drink, chips and salsa for 7.00 bucks. Not bad on the price the teas were out I dint like that and the presentation of the food wasn’t all of that. My shells where borderline«hard» crunchy if that sounds right. This is a review that is coming from a person who LOVES Taco Bell this is the Tex-Mex I prefer… I know crazy huh but I love it!

I’ve been to the competitor but never to Freebird’s. My Aggie brother raves about it. Great value for lunch. Counter service is efficient and friendly. The only negative is the loud rock and roll music. It drowns out conversations. Food was tasty

Tried this for the first time a few weeks ago and it was EXCELLENT! My friend from Seattle introduced it to me. It was delicious and their chicken enchiladas were fantastic. Wish we had one closer to Denton!

Being from Seattle where Taco Del Mar is delish, I have to say we were disappointed. My hopes and dreams were dashed within the first 30 seconds of walking into the restaurant. I watched as hot water was poured into the refried beans to make them less thick. There wasn’t much left in the bin so why not just make a new batch or empty a new can into a new bin? The workers were less than thrilled we were there as they would have rather sat around talking than serve a customer. Queso was runny enough to be soup or drank through a straw. You could barely keep it on the chip let alone get it to your mouth without making a huge mess. One plus was the hot sauce was definitely hot! No messing around there. Will we be back? More than likely not.

I love this place! I find myself craving it at least 2 – 3 times a month. The wet mondito is excellent, as are the nachos. I’ve had Chipotle and Freebirds and I still do like this. Maybe not better than Chipotle, but I do like it.

Dear«Taco Del Mar», Mayhaps your grasp of Spanglish isn’t what is should be to open a taco restaurant. «Del» means«we have» and«Mar» means fish, shrimp and other fishy bits from the ocean. I was just in Meh-hee-ko and I know this to be a fact. You have pork, beef and chicken in numerous offerings but only one type of fish taco. I did not order the fish because it looked dried out. The«Mondito» bowl I did order was not bueno, which is Spanglish for«better than Taco Bell but not as good as Chuy’s». I have had better queso at a high school football game concession stand. I’m assuming that«Mondito» is meant to be «Large», as evidenced by the small print«Large» under it on the menu. But it was about 5 ½″ around, much smaller than Freebird’s Burrito Bowl. I got half carnitas and half pulled chicken. I saw neither of those ingredients in the Caribbean Ocean when I was in Playa. The ingredients of the smallish bowl were unflavorful and, I suspect, cheap. I really hoped this to be like Wahoo Fish Tacos in Denver. I did not like your restaurant. I will not get my burritos there. Sincerely, Me

Earlier today, I’m driving down Royal Lane from 161 since I missed my correct turn, so I took a moment to just sit right there and enjoy my new living environment. As I drive, I’m thinking about all my friends back home in Cali making plans to go to the beach… without me, because I’m now stuck in a Republican state. Sadness overcomes me. I sigh and look around some more. Then… I see it. The gem of the west coast. The restaurant I’d started frequenting years ago and got my entire family to love. I swept 2 lanes like a mother and sped into the parking lot. The OPEN sign is lit. OMG!!! I am now having the best day ever!!! There’s a Taco Del Mar down the road from me. Yes, yes, YES! Great new location next door to Subway. Menu is the usual for Taco Del Mar; Nachos, Platters, Mondo Burritos. My favorite and usual order is a wet veggie mondito burrito. Mondito is just a smaller burrito than the Mondo– since I don’t eat like a man, I need the Mondito. Anyways, I digress. Tortilla is heated, guacamole and sour cream enter the arena, followed by spanish rice, black beans, cheese, pico de gallo, lettuce, and habenero sauce to complete. Roll it all up, pour on the sauce, and after 2 mins in the microwave, you have a Mexican party in your mouth! yummmm… As soon as I got home, I text everyone to tell them about my new discovery. I am still so excited. My husband’s looking at me like I’m some sort of weirdo. He has no idea what he’s been missing all his life. I give him one bite and wait for his reaction. Cue the moaning sounds! He LOVES it. We went splitsies on the burrito. So good. Convinced my husband to add this to our favorites list. We will definitely be back again. For those who are Carnivores, they do have the option of adding ground beef, chicken, fish, and shredded beef to your food. Vegans are also welcomed at this place; they have pot beans and other vegan friendly items. Also, if you’d rather not get the enchilada sauce on top, you can always get queso on there, or just get it regular. I’ve never had the tacos here, but I’ve always heard great things about them. So, get in here and try whatever you like. You will leave with a full belly of good food and a smile on your face.
