Didn’t realize there was a restaurant inside until a friend showed me. For $ 6, you can get a pretty good meal. A lot of variety to choose from. I had the spicy pork and it was pretty good. You save on gratuity with self-service. Check it out for cheap/good Korean food if you’re in the area.

Tried the rainbow roll and the shrimp fried rice. Price: 10 $ for 10 rolls. Extremely fresh so four stars. Shrimp fried rice was really good too. Came with cucumbers with kimchi sauce and a giant miso soup. 4 stars again. The produce in the market looked super fresh and good too!

Tried their bibimbop(#2) in the food court. It was pretty good for the price. Back in California you definitely can’t get something like this for only $ 6. If you like crunchy rice this is definitely for you! I also got some grocery and price are ok. People are nice too.

Big store with lots of good selections of meat, snacks and vegetables. They also have miscellaneous creams and household items parts of the store. The cute baked section has some nice cakes but their is a major bakery(tokk jib) right outside of it. what I liked the most is the lady with the small grilling cooking station with all the snack goodies to go. Nice overall look, clean and organized.

I’m a fan. Clean, no foul smells when you walk in. Good prices on fruits and veggies. Small food court with a couple of vendors, good food and priced right at $ 7 a plate with the side pickled dishes. If I lived closer it would be a regular spot to eat a decent healthy asian dinner.

I tried their bibimbop in the food court and thought it was ok. It’s not as tasty as it could be. The rice was crunchy but everything else was just ok. The grocery store is pretty clean and offers a decent selection of stuff. The prices are ok. Oh, they also sell already made Korean sides like the fish cakes, kimchi, anchovies, etc. I tried their fish cakes and wasn’t impressed.

FOODCOURT review only: For those that love trying new things, this cafeteria style food court has pictures and English descriptions of the few dishes they serve. Being a Saturday, I expected this place to be hopping. There were Koreans all over the food court. It seems that, just like everyone, we started with our $ 6.00 Spicy Squid plate and $ 6.00 Spicy Beef Soup then proceeded to go grocery shopping. I was at H Mart just last Thursday, but forgot a few items. This place being closer, was convenient enough. However, I noticed that their prices are a bit higher than H Mart. Case in point, the hams that sold for $ 1.29 per lb. at H Mart was selling for $ 1.59 per lb. Closer inspection of the sliced rib-eye, it was $ 3.99 compared to H Mart at $ 2.49 per lb. I was in a rush last Thursday, so I missed out on those two items. Still, for an Irving location, and that I live close by at the north side of Grand Prairie, this is definitely my choice for last minute Korean/Japanese grocery shopping. For other Asian supplies, I do go to Hong Kong Market in Grand Prairie(and while Hong Kong Market does not reek of fishiness, the TNL store does).

A less smelly alternative. Hidden behind a older strip mall is a newer smaller version of K-town, well more like village. I discovered Komart by accident on one of my trips to Wally World via Pioneer. Once you enter you will immediately notice that unlike Irving’s other Asian market, this one doesn’t reek! I have found all the goodies I need without having to drive all the way to Hong Kong Market in Grand Prairie. The prices are cheap too. They even have a small section that carries pots, pans, and other supplies. As well as a kitchen on the left side that serves home made goodness. Come hungry and take some to go! Enjoy!

When I am in need for my staple asian grocery shopping, I go to Komart. First I stop by the cafeteria for my light meal which is usually Tofu Chigae or Bibimbap. Both dishes here are pretty good for eating at a grocery store. Under $ 10 for most dishes, average is around $ 7, plus you get the bonchon(probably mispelled) which are the pickled daikon and kimchi. The grocery store itself is nice… NOSTINKYAROMA unlike most Vietnamese stores. Equipped with a Kitchen Appliance area, Makeup Counter, and Meat counter(including seafood with sushi grade fish), as well as the usual produce. They also tend to carry a few Vietnamese, Chinese, and Japanese items as well. Interesting items: Comfy slippers and houseshoes, Ovaltine, Baby Octopus thats not frozen, Hello-Kitty earrings, and Car Freshners. There’s a really nice mexican guy, that knows how to speak Korean, who always helps me and always super nice. ONLYDOWNFALL: No JASMINERICE!!! :(that means I STILL have to go to the stinkiest store on earth– Nguyen Loi Supermarket(because of proximity, otherwise I would go to HONGKONG supermarket in grandprairie… its just sooo far away…:tear:) This market is definitely my second fave asian market… first is HMART!

I would drop by there to pick up stuff to make sushi. that’s probably about it. the day I came(saturday afternoon), the fruits and vegetables were not really fresh. I like the prepared foods section though. I dropped by the deli to try their food. heard so much about it. I ordered 3 dishes. it came out to $ 20 bucks. the food is passable korean fare. not wonderful. the soups… you can pick up the items(korean soup base, tofu, your choice of veggies, noodles, some meat or seafood, kimchee) from the grocery side of the store and make a big pot at home for less than $ 20 bucks. the meats, pick some up from the meat section, grab some veggies, a bottle of korean bbq sauce, and easily serve 4 at home. I really came in to try out the deli because a few of my friends have raved about it. I left disappointed.

Open your minds way up and head to this place. Ok, if you’re a white American, prepare yourself as you’ve just entered Seoul, Korea. No Chinese, No Japanese, this is true Korean. And damn it’s a find. The produce is very fresh and it’s completely unique. Yes, there are the staples: lettuce, tomatoes, fruit at much cheaper prices than you’ll find in Alberstons, so pick some up. BUT, look at what else is there: 10 kinds of mushrooms, some I can’t even spell, korean vegetables that you have to use your imagination to even use, but do it. walk past(To the right) to the«Prepared Food» area, and you’ll see plastic containers of some of the most unique food you will ever imagine. «Marinated Cucumbers in hot bean past, fried and seasons whole anchovies, kin chee in 5 different varities, and if you look in the meat case, you’ll see lbs and lbs of marinated beef. buy some of this! take it home and put it on the bar b q and you’ll never buy any other meat again. Trust me on this one. They call is ««Kal Bi(ribs intact) and«Bul Go Gi» which is marinated beef(In the same sauce as Kal Bi) and sliced very thin. YUMYUMYUM. Walk up and down the freezer from the pot stickers in a million varites to the shumai to the frozen fish cakes. All are incredible. There is 20 feet of tofu and rows of different noodles, sauces and rice. MADATORY: walk to the back and visit the«Deli» it’s litearlly a full korean meal for $ 6.00! You get an entrée, two side dishes and a bowl of rice. Sit down at communal tables and the Koreans will wonder in amazement what you’re doing there. It’s their secret! The food is just great. A complete steal. The deli is cash only, the store takes credit cards.

With all apologies to the Dallas Komart, which is hands down the winner for the true, one-stop shopping experience, the food at Irving komart is much better. So far, I have only seen Koreans working the counter and cooking, as opposed to Dallas, so that might have something to do with it. It has pretty much the same line-up, cafeteria style, with pics for most of the food. The Bibimbap is great, yukgaechang is good, and the mandu-guk is pretty nice. They sometimes have yul-mo bibimbab, which I get when I can, yolmu being something similar to american spinach. But what is really cool, is on the left hand side of the counter, the aju mas make your kimbab for you fresh. I think it is 3 bucks for two rolls, but for 5 bucks you can opt for the«nude kimbap» which is the same thing, but instead of the kim on the outside, they invert the roll, so that the kim is in the middle, and the rice on the outside, with sesame –seed flecks — cool, huh? oh, and it is a thicker roll too. I have noticed with the nude kimbab, they also usually include an extra sliver or two of tanmogee. I usually bop in for some kimbapa and some sac-sac, the drink with little grapes floating around, and that will be my lunch.
