Lovely staff but terrible beer selection. Albertsons has more beer, how do they differentiate themselves here? Porters or sours would be great

It feels like this place has done a 180-​degree turn in recent months. I used to be irritated when I went in because 1. Prices were high and 2. The employees were always distracted, unfriendly, or both. You would find yourself standing in line forever while the checkout person chatted with other customers, for example, completely ignoring people waiting. It just felt unfriendly and like they didn’t want you to shop in there.
I’m not sure what, if anything, has changed, but it’s a lot better now. I avoided it for several months because of previous irritating experiences, but every time I’ve been back since, it’s very different. One of the employees, a gentleman who works behind the counter, has been there all along, so it’s not a staff turn-​over that made the difference. He’s just… really nice now. And he wasn’t before.
The lady who works during weekdays is nice, too. They’re just super-​welcoming and low-​key and fun to talk to these days.
As for the prices, all I can say is that the cigarettes I buy here are cheaper now. I don’t know if they adjusted their pricing and cut out some over-​inflation, or if they were just charging more for the heck of it before. I did notice in the past that the price would differ from visit to visit, so maybe they just regulated things. I’m not sure.
Whatever it is, I love this place now. I always leave in a good mood. What nice people.
I took off one star because even before chip cards hit the market, their credit card machine is agonizingly slow! Don’t go in without cash if you can possibly help it!

Way overpriced! Like, dishonestly overpriced. They didn’t have many champagne/​sparkling options to begin with. So I grabbed the Chandon Brut (because it was the only decent option). It didn’t have a price tag on it so I took it to the register to ask. «$ 30.00» she said… To which I replied «Are you freakin kidding me?» It’s literally less than half of that at Albertsons (which doesn’t even have good wine prices). No wonder they don’t show the price. I guess they figure if you take the time to get in line and go up to the counter you will just buy it. Incredibly shady!

With so few options in Irvine, this is the go to spot! They have a stellar variety of hard liquor and beer. Cigarettes and real cigars. Sodas and non alcoholic drinks. He’s even started bringing back in snacks for you munchies folks out there. The owner, Mike, is awesome. He’ll go out of his way to get what you want. If you don’t see it in there, ask them! He is always ready to work with the UCI college students for parties and celebrations. And he’s just an all around great guy. And now that he has a new employee, who is always ready with her smile to greet you, it’s a much more pleasant place to go. The other guy that used to work there is gone, so no more rudeness and attitude. I noticed a few times I’ve been in there, that she IS strict about checking id’s tho. So if you look young, take your I’d or passport with you. It’s the law, afterall and she’s only doing her job. There aren’t too many places in Irvine to go as it is, but this should be your spot. Mike rocks!

In excusably rude service. Lazy arrogant clerk who doesn’t deserve a job. We will never set foot in that disgusting shop and neither should you. Take your business elsewhere. The fact that they stay in business only makes me think there is an underground business being run out of there.

Well, welcome to the only liquor store in Irvine and luckily, its a good one too. It’s really handy that they’re open so late especially since they have a great variety. It’s also convenient that they carry e-​cig liquid and my fav, Nicmaxx there too.
The one thing that really sets them apart is that they’ll order something for you, even if they don’t carry it. Sweet! :D

WOW! Definitely a diamond in the rough. The still liquor is UC Irvine’s GO-​TO store for specialty liquor, beer and hookah tobacco. It is the ONLY PREMIUM VAPE store walking distance from campus ! The selection is exquisite! AND he carries all the top Electronic Cigarette brands from E-​Liquid, vaporizers, and high grade accessories such as batteries, Chargers, replacement atomizers/​coil/​wick
And much more. The customer service leaves you feeling great. He also special orders items for his customers!!! ENOUGH SAID, THE STORE SPEAKS FOR ITSELF!

Great place to go get alcohol! The selection is great an the prices are on point. I have never had a bad experience with them. I will continue going here for all of my alcohol needs

Hands down, the BEST place to go for all your essentials. Alcohol, beers, cigars, you name it. Mike is the guy to go see. The selections are huge on top off all kinds of deals as well as shipments coming in weekly to keep the place fully stocked. You will definitely get the most bang for your buck here. Anywhere else would be settling for second best. Keep it real, Mike! I’ll see you soon.

If you wanted to be treated like a non-​entity this is the place to go. Worker to busy having a smoke outside to really be bothered by anything. Take the time to go to Albertsons.
Don’t patronize this place unless you appreciate not being appreciated as a paying customer. In all my years of coming to this plaza, this is the one place that has made me think that there are people that truly live up to the term douchebag.

STAY AWAY! Worst service ever! I wish there was a negative star. They don’t deserve a star! Go to Albertsons — they were awesome. We asked if we could redeem our lottery ticket here and the guy was a total douche bag! 07÷10÷15 around noon. If they can’t cash out our winnings, why do they even bother selling lotto?! And he didn’t have to be such an a** about it. My mistake that I already told him that I wanted to buy $ 14 worth of tickets. I should’ve just taken my business elsewhere. He didn’t even give me my Fantasy 5 2^nd chance #s. Never going here again and I’ll tell all of my friends and coworkers to stay away from this place!

The worst service I’ve ever experienced. Sadly you’re better off walking to albertsons to pick up some drinks or smokes.
Drive a couple min more to get good wine/​spirits/​beer with better service. The cashier was no help and very rude, started calling me «bro» and getting defensive.
Used to come here quite often, this guys just ruined it and lost a costumer.

Decent beer, one clerk who seemed cool but if he’s not there be prepared to wait for a commercial break before the other employees will get up and check you out. It’s seriously ridiculous how unashamed these people are of being shitty workers.
Pass on this place. There are plenty of other places I can drive to nearby for excellent craft beer

This place is convenient and the people who work here are cool too. My friend got a deal on a couple of beers when they didn’t have the six pack of what she wanted. They’re really helpful if you have any issues. The prices aren’t bad, but like others have said, they’re not the best. The reason for four stars is the fact that they often seem to run out of what I would assume are the most popular beers in the store.

UPDATE TIME!
The main strength of the Still when I last wrote about it was it’s craft beer selection. Sadly, now the beer coolers are sitting mostly empty. The exciting variety I used to find in the store is no longer there. I’m not quite sure what happened. I usually find more beer I actually want at Trader Joe’s now.
The store still stocks a wide variety of liquor, but the prices are not competitive. I’m sure I’ll still pop in occasionally, since I live in UCI housing, but if I’m making the trip just for beer, this won’t be where I go.

What a crappy place, I just want there tonight to get a lotto ticket and the lady who works there is so rude. when she was giving me my change she put in on the counter when I had me hand out. She asked me if I’m Arab, I replied to her why is she asking me that, she didn’t answer. I am never coming back to his place.

they have everything you want, they have crappy service, they like to jack up their prices. I ended up going to albertsons and costco for my stuffnow.

I despise The Still.
There is a fat gypsy wench that sits behind the counter that does nothing but pick her nose and reads magazines all day. I’ve come in to redeem a few lotto tix and she just shoves my winnings in face and tries to sit back down. I was ready to buy more tickets, cash in hand. She refused to accept my winning scratcher tickets because I didn’t scratch off all of the stuff. I asked her if she had anything I could use to clean up the tickets with, she said NO. Umm hello, I can’t borrow a penny out of the register?
I picked up my winnings, cash, tickets and told her that I was glad to take my business somewhere else. I also told her she was disgusting.

Great selection of beer. However:
1) they keep all the prices secret until you get to the register
2) those prices are full, Irvine retail prices, which means expensive.
