I just got my «Executive Haircut» by Alexander and it was awesome! You can either get $ 10 off if you check in with Unilocal or you can go ahead and by a groupon to this place(groupon good for new customers only). The receptionist Monique is very welcoming; they offer soda, water, beer, and even while you wait for your barber/hairstylist/whatever you want to call them. I recommend the executive haircut because you also get your hair washed twice, a 5-minute neck/scalp massage, and a hot towel facial like thing. They assist as much as you need for your haircut and even if you’re getting a beard cut(which I can’t since I grow hair on my face like I’m going through puberty). Their bathroom also offers razors if you want to shave yourself and also Listerine for that bad breath of yours. I definitely recommend coming here or one their locations. Parking here was great and a plus was that it is next to a Starbucks so coffee to go.

Booked an appointment at 430pm for my first time here. Writing this review as I sit here, the time is 4:50 and my appointment was at 430 and I have not been seen. The place seems high class and they offered me wine, beer, or a beverage before seating me in the lounge and forgetting about me. Checked my voicemail and they tried to move my appointment from 430 to 445. It’s very unprofessional to do this to begin with, but what are you gonna do besides suck it up and cry inside. I don’t know what else to write about! This pretty much sums up my first experience here. Can’t even write about the cut cause the experience was ruined cause I felt rushed cause they didn’t respect my time. Wonderful. Update to my review… So at 4:55 I was finally seen. The receptionist was the worst part of my service. I came here June 10, at 4:30pm so whoever the girl was working up front, she was the absolute worst! I told her when scheduling that I was referred by Unilocal and she should have applied the«check in» 10 dollar discount; however she tried to hit me with a full price haircut, that was supposed to include a neck massage which I never got. The entire experience was just overall low class, for a price point almost as high as the Montage in Laguna beach. I feel ripped off, scammed, and ashamed to call this place a salon. Please avoid; I think I’m gonna dispute half the cost with my credit card company just due to feeling like the value didn’t match the price point, and that snobby receptionist needs to be let go. Attempt at your own risk people.

I work in the research industry. In other words, my appearance and dress doesn’t matter in my day to day; it’s only when I have an event or a meeting or a conference to go to that I should get cleaned up a bit. With that said, I usually get a haircut every 3 – 6 months. My hair does quite long in between haircuts (Note: My profile picture was from waaaay long ago. This is not what I looked like when I walked in last week!) I came in last week for a haircut, and even before the shears touched my locks, we talked a bit about what I wanted my hair to look like… a bit longer on top, no crazy drastic undercuts, etc. I showed her a picture of myself as well, from a few years back when I had an amazing haircut at 18|8. My stylist(Afsoun) nodded her head and agreed that that was a good cut. She even commented that I had typical thick Asian hair, so if it was cut too short, it just sort of grows straight out and that we probably should keep a bit of length on it to prevent that from happening. She also acknowledged that she would taper and blend rather than have dramatic cuts between the side and the top. «Excellent,» I thought. «She totally gets it. She knows what she’s doing.» And so you can imagine the shock when I noticed that she cut too much on the first pass on the sides with her shears. By the end of it, I thought to myself… this is an executive cut? The $ 10 barber down the street could have done something similar… evenly short all the way around the sides and a bit too short at top too? After cutting my hair, washing it, and blow drying my hair(or whatever was left with it), she ended up taking out the scissors to chop a bit more off… to «even it out». Ugh. Now I need the strongest of pomades to keep my hair from sticking straight out(like a porcupine), but I dislike having the«my hair is always wet» look. Like I said, my appearance doesn’t make a huge impact on my daily life, so I can wait two weeks for this to grow out. Anyway, like all 18|8’s, the service was wonderful, which is why this isn’t a 1 star review. I also had a groupon(which they honored) so it wasn’t like I blew a ton of money and ended up with a bad haircut. Furthermore, I know I’m not the typical men’s haircut client since I let my hair grow out so much before getting it chopped off. I wonder if she’d do a better job if I got a haircut more frequently, where its’ already mostly styled the way I want it and I could just say: «Just follow what’s already been done… just shorten everything by about a half an inch or so.»

My husband has a usual stylist here(Nicole). Nicole was out today and my husband needed a haircut so they scheduled him with someone else. When he went to pay it was more than double what he usually pays AND with less services! He paid $ 90.00 when he is usually charged $ 40.00 and she didn’t even trim the eyebrows. When Nicole does his hair she also does the eyebrows. Obviously he was surprised at the end when they told him it was $ 90.00 and he asked for an explanation. They told him this new stylist was«master stylist» and she charges more. My husband was not told of any of this prior. On top of this rip off his beard was not lined. So much for a «master stylist.» What a rip off!

I’ve been coming here to see Alyse for a few years now… And every time I have left thinking every visit is better than the last. Her technique and ambitious personality shows how much she cares about her client when it comes to hair goals. Her personality and charisma is awesome. Couldn’t have been happier to have a sic stylist and new friend. Get a scalp treatment… Thank me later.

I wanted a haircut on a Friday morning and I went to another place that had me wait 45 minutes, so I left and came to Eighteen Eight, I walked in and they were very nice, and then I got Abraham, and he’s the bomb, I’ll be coming back to him from now on

I have been going to get my hair cut by Mona here at 18⁄8 for about a year now and she is AWESOME… I can not recommend a better stylist. She is brilliant at what she does. She works with you and really wants to get it right the first time. Yes it is more in price. however you do get what you pay for and I do not mind, it is well worth every cent. Go see Mona you will not be disappointed.

Finally outgrew Great Clips and decided to try 18|8 after driving by multiple times. I was impressed with how fancy shmancy a men’s salon could be. Nicole did a great job and was a pleasure to talk to. I was thoroughly satisfied with the detail Nicole put into my haircut, and her knowledge of all the products they sold. Will definitely return!(Even after I use my additional Groupon voucher) lol.

The reason why I keep coming back to 18⁄8 is because there is no better haircut experience out there. If you are a man, and you love your hair, then this is the place you need to come to care for your hair the way it deserves. The other reason I keep coming back, and probably the most important reason, is because I’ve found the right stylist. Her name is Adrienne and if you are coming here for the first time you need to make your appointment with her. She always has a great attitude and never gives the impression that she is rushing you to get to the next person. She gives you the time that you need and never a minute less. There is no better person out there to style and care for your care than Adrienne. I just got my haircut from her again yesterday, and I can’t wait until I have to go back! That’s how good she is. Long story short, coming to 18⁄8 is a hair cutting experience unlike any other. And when you find the right stylist, like I’ve found in Adrienne, it gives you peace of mind knowing your hair is in good hands.

If you’re looking for a place that takes pride in what they do day in, day out I highly recommend going to 18⁄8 at off Anton. I’ve been a client of Katie’s, to whom this review is for, for about 10 months, and let me just say, it gets better each time. It’s scary knowing Katie will outdo herself each time I go in for a cut — I tell her all the time, too. ;) Getting out of bed this morning was not the hard part. It was finding a barber who could cut good hair that was most challenging, especially having not lived in the area until recently. I say barber because that is what she is among other things; she excels in barber work, however: fades, tapers, etc., but could do anything from undercuts to pompadours to that reminiscent classic, sharp look that pervades the media in much of today. Moreover, she is so meticulous in what she does that she isn’t satisfied until the last bit of hair product is applied to your hair. And even then, she’d probably say she could’ve done more. She’s a perfectionist, but when cutting hair, I guess that could only be a good thing. But most importantly, she loves what does oh and CATS. She smiles, She laughs, and I feel as though I can talk to her about anything, especially sports. There’s hardly ever a minute of silence when you’re in her chair of awesomness getting groomed. she’ll make sure you feel right at home. I will make it my life’s mission to seek Katie for a fresh, rejuvenating cut. Thanks girl, I appreciate it. You have a special gift.

This was my first time at 18|8. After of being tired of The Sport Clips cholas irritating my neck and scalp, I decided to move on to a more«mature» establishment. I just finished my cut with Adrienne. She is an amazing person. I can tell right away that she loves her craft. She showed me the best personal attention that I ever had in a long time. And I told that to her face, and I meant every word! I also took advantage of their two for one product promotion. $ 42 for TWO huge bottles of Shampoo and conditioner. It will last me a year since I don’t have much hair. If your tired of having Sport Clips taking a hedge trimmer to your head, then stop wasting your $ 25 with them. Minimum effort equals minimum results, right?! Spend a little more and get the manly pampering that you deserve! So, slide on over to 18|8 here in Irvine, and tell Adrienne that Tom sent you!

With so many places and hairstylists out there, it can be nearly impossible to find someone who knows exactly what they are doing, everytime, and takes the time to get to know your hairstyle inside and out. It’s only happened a few times in my life, but I’m so grateful it happened about a year about when I found the wonderful and amazing Mona, who has an amazing personality as well, and it was a match made in haircutting heaven. I don’t drink much beer or need a lot of the extra amenities that 18⁄8 offers, but when I find someone who can bring the best out of my hair, why would I go anywhere else? I joked with her that if I ever became President, I’d have to fly her out to the White House to cut my hair twice a month! Bottom line, if you need an amazing haircut, definitely try Mona!

Alyse has been cutting my hair now for almost 4.5 years… pretty sure that’s enough to say. The front desk staff are always welcoming and courteous, you have an option of beer, wine soda or coffee, ample magazines to read if you’re waiting. Alyse knows how to cut my hair everytime, and when on occasion I decide how to mix things up, I’m always impressed with what she comes up with, with little direction from me!

I’ve tried a lot of men’s hair salons and/or hair-cutting establishments in Orange County from the pretentious salons in Newport Beach to the bare bones Super Cuts in Garden Grove and everywhere in between. Maybe it’s just me, but getting a haircut is always an ordeal; it’s on the top of the list of just the most painful things to get done. You have to explain what you want, but you don’t know what you want or can’t explain how you want it. It’s hit and miss. Touch and go. I’ve happily settled on 18⁄8 in Irvine as my regular go-to haircut establishment. Everyone is friendly. It’s clean. They take good care of you. Making an appointment is effortless. There are no egos. It’s not trendy. It’s not dated. It’s just a solid, reliable place to go to get a haircut. It’s priced reasonably compared to other establishments, which are not as nice, are too trendy, and are swarming with egos and hipster attitudes. Mona, in particular, is the best. Does a great job. Good personality. She’s not overly talkative or overly silent. She gauges how much you want to talk or not talk. Does a good job of interpreting your inability to explain what kind of haircut you want. Gives a great cut, puts a soothing, hot towel over your face, and you’re good to go. Doesn’t try to up-sell any products. She asks but doesn’t push. Happy camper.

I’m not a fan of writing bad reviews, but this about tops it. I tried calling in for an appointment and was greeted by Jordan on the phone who just told me lies. He couldn’t even assist me with my basic request to inform me of my stylist’s availability. The issue… asking me to be on a brief hold(7min is not brief, especially on the phone) and then telling me that my stylist is not at this location anymore(when in fact they are no longer with the company), sending me on a chase to call other locations all saying my stylist is at west park. The kicker… The manager, Barbara(according to Jordan unless he’s still lying) didn’t even bother calling me back to resolve this. Jordan said she’d call back in just a minute. it’s been 30min. Took a while to find a great stylist, and now I have to go elsewhere.

Horrible customer service. they would Charge you $ 53 dollars and you get $ 9.99 hair cut. I am not kidding. It‘s just wasting your money. The lady who cut my hair was Katie and she intrdused herself as a mater stylist but after she cut my hair, I would say she is an amateur stylist. DONOTGOATTHISPLACE.

I’ve tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt, but it’s finally time they get the review they deserve. I’ve visited this salon 5 times. Of those five times three have been scheduled incorrectly or the front desk staff has failed to inform me that my stylist left for the day. I understand that these front desk people are minimum wage employees, but it’s ok to exert mediocre effort. Attention to detail is not a priority here. Overall, the place is an expensive Supercuts. Sure they give you a beer if you’d like, but I’d go to a bar if I was looking for a beer. Also, the décor is extremely cheap and their stylists are of Supercuts pedigree. The only bright spot is my stylist Abraham can give great cuts. All in all, find somewhere else to get your haircut. If your time is important for you, don’t come here. They don’t understand that They work at a salon for a reason.
