The bbq here is always good! I always get the beef and chicken links! But their brisket is good too. And hey take Apple Pay!

As always, I love my combo meat with potato salad and bbq beans! Although the peach cobbler is odd looking, their sweet potato pie is delish. Been a customer for over 15yrs and will recommend this place to anyone. See you soon!

Extremely fast service, their chicken sausage is delicious well basically everything on the menu is. Definitely choose Phillips over woodys any day

It’s okay… decidedly okay. The sauce doesn’t really do anything for me, but the meat itself is decently cooked. I personally prefer Woody’s, but this place is cheaper and a little closer to home.

Drove from Signal hill today to get my hair Braided and ask the stylist could she recommend a place to get good barbecue from so she says Phillips is the bomb so I Decided to look on Unilocal and seen good Reviews so I tried it I’ve never been so Disappointed the people there have no personality I strongly believe when you’re dealing with the public you want them to feel you want their business not the case here barbecue sauce was gritty Mac and cheese prepared cheaply never Will I go there Again

Pretty good BBQ with good pricing and decent portions. Still looking for LA’s Best, but not too much to complain about.
Had rib tip dinner with potato salad and baked beans. Rib tips were plentiful but could use more sauce. However, I’ve had better, more flavorful sauce. They gave me options: mild, spicy, or mix. I chose mix.
Also tried the chicken link sandwich with macaroni salad. I chose spicy BBQ sauce on the sandwich and it came sliced in several pieces, and bread on the side. I was able to make more than two sandwiches with it! Great Value!
The side dishes were not that impressive. Potato salad was okay, but the baked beans werent sweet enough and reminded me of tomato sauce. When I chose macaroni, I was expecting mac n cheese, but I got cold macaroni salad. It was good, but was expecting mac n cheese.
Overall it was good, close to home, and I would go back.

From Chicago and never found ribs I liked. First time here ordered food for my Mom and Myself. The meat was tendered and very good tasting. We truly enjoyed are meal. Will be back.

Please get the banana pudding!!! I also loved the mac & cheese, buttery corn in the cob. I’m a vegetarian hence the sides only meal and was so satisfied by how rich and creamy they all were. The staff are courteous, prompt and knowledgeable. Don’t forget that pudding.

Although I grew up eating this for most special occasions, suggesting for my hubby to try it wasn’t the best. I had the sliced brisket dinner and he ordered a combo of three meats for dinner. The restaurant itself is take out only, which was fine. The cashier was extremely friendly and attentive. However the food quality is what warrants the 2-​star rating. My meat was drenched in BBQ sauce and without it seemed flavorless. Meanwhile his food which included: tips, sausage, and brisket was also lacking any meaningful robustness for the tastebuds. The sides which are offered for their dinner combos are extremely small and are limited to: potato salad, slaw, or BBQ beans. If you prefer another the of side, you’re expected to pay more. Because they consider this a dinner plate, I’d expect to have the ability to have a larger selection of sides.

The food was terrific, the desert was ok. The peach cobbler godawful. The peach cobbler looked like can peaches with a slice of white bread on top… tasted like it too. Yuck!

I’ve experienced better. And where (might you ask)? At their own location on Crenshaw.
My main complaint was the sauce, it didn’t cover the meat. My best description is that it looked like evaporated BBQ sauce, BBQ sauce particles, if you will.
I’d only come here if I was desperate, but from now on, I will take my money to the Crenshaw and Adams location.

There are very very few places where I can enjoy BBQ, of course Philips being one of them. I’ve been coming to this location for many years. Everything is cooked to perfection! I ordered the pork rib sandwich, its mouthwatering. They sides are great too; cole slaw, potato salad, mac and cheese, beans. Mmm everything is great! They have great customer service.

they got the best bbq in town. i been coming here for about a year once or twice a, week
and i’m never disappointed. the hot links is my favorite.

Avoid on holidays as it will be filled with people placing massive orders. Good luck getting through to place a phone order. Sides are small anything to write home about. The actual bbq is BOMB every time and the whole reason for the 5 stars. If you are a rib lover this is definitely the place for you. Throw some mixed sauce on it and thank me later.

Had a taste for a pulled pork sandwich today. I had the sandwich and Mac and cheese. Sorry to say this place is not worth it.

Food is delicious! Customer service is something to be desired. Ordered the combo plate and then was told, after I ordered it it wasn’t really three meat is actually two meets but that’s not what the menu shows.

I guess the downside about places that have been open since you were a kid is the fact you continue to find better places and/​or the quality of the place you’ve been going to has deteriorated in quality.
I ordered a pork rib dinner which should feed two people. The size of the sides they give you are enough for two to have about three bites. The meat didn’t have a SMOKED taste to it and the mixed sauce was just okay. I saw they have mac and cheese and I ordered a side to try and I was not impressed with it. And I was VERY adventurous and ordered peach cobbler. The cobbler was the worst I’ve ever had. It truly tasted as if they took canned peaches dumped it in a pre-​made frozen crust and served it to me. This place USE to be very good. After yesterday’s visit I shall seek other options for BBQ. I feel like I wasted my $ 26

The food here is yummy. I like this location better than the one on Crenshaw. The first time I came here was on the fourth of July. That was pure madness. However, the food was worth the wait. They haven’t disappointed me yet.
I like the fact that you can choose the sauce you want. I prefer to have mine mixed. Super tasty! I have had the beef ribs everytime. I will try chicken next time.
The sides are good as well. I like the potato and macaroni salad. The beef rib dinner combo comes with two sides. The price was about $ 14.45. Not too bad at all. Well worth it.
I don’t reside too far away. I will definitely be back for more of this scrumptious bbq.

I’m from Texas so I’m used to really good barbecue. I am sorry to say, this was the worst barbecue I’ve ever eaten in my life. I’m not sure what kind of barbecue sauce they use, but it’s not like anything I have ever tasted. The consistency isn’t even like normal barbecue sauce. The potato salad, the beans, I mean none of it was good. I don’t mean to be rude at all, but the food here really was not good. As far as the service, it wasn’t terrible. I do recall asking for a side that wasn’t included in the meal I selected. The cashier simply said «no», I assume it wasn’t an option for the dinner I chose. I was willing to pay extra but she didn’t even give me a choice. I thought that was kind of rude. Yeah so, I don’t think I’ll ever be back here again.
