Two words to best describe the food: HUGEDISAPPOINTMENT!!! The wife and I had the #1 ramen on the menu. I added the pork soft bone to mine. The ramen was cooked perfectly and they gave generous portions. The pork was tender and practically melts in your mouth, but they weren’t very generous in their portion size. The broth was a real disappointment. We hope we chose the wrong broth as we ended up getting a very thick broth that tasted like peanut butter. It wasn’t very good. I ate all of it as I was starving and the wife barely ate half of it. The prices were on the high side for ramen. The service was good. I don’t think we will be back to try their other ramen bowls as we don’t want to take a gamble on our food again.

Ok I came here last night because the line at the Curry House was too long. I was craving ramen and I was like sure lets give them a shot. The place wasn’t busy at all. Overall the experience was average. The waitress didn’t have a clue what she was doing. The proportion of the sizes are small. The taste of the food is bit average. I order the Shoygu Ramen and the soup base wasn’t good at all. Not too much flavor and when I added my hot chili powder that was what I taste most. The egg didn’t have much flavor either. However, the pork belly appetizer dish was really good, very flavorful. The fried oyster and the calamari was over fried and not good dipping sauce. The beef and chicken was a bit boring you could have gotten the same taste from Yoshinoya. I also order the ice cream puff and the puff itself was old which made it not good. The black sesame ice cream was good however. I don’t think I will come back to this place for ramen at all!

Came here on a Saturday night with no wait time. This was really nice, especially after waiting for a table at the Olive Garden for +30 minutes. Ojiya ftw! Pork soft bone ramen = 8.50.probably my favorite ramen. The pork was really tasty and flavorful. The broth was just right, as were the noodles. Waitress was friendly and sweet.

Once of our favorite weekday cheap eats. Its the same owner as Ojiya sushi & robata place in Hacienda Heights. just this one doesn’t serve alcohol and its more like ramen & rice bowl place, and its cheap. they have more items on the menu now, I like their appetizers, grilled eel, mackerel, squid are very delicious and healthy. the mini shabu is very nice too, I like the oyster one. friendly service and clean place.

Just went tonight for the first time. Ordered Tonkatsu Ramen(pork based soup) and Oyster Ramen. The soup base for both was too rich. The slice of pork and half raw egg were average. Oyster tasted pretty fresh though. Service was ok. Waitress was cute and did her job but didn’t make us feel anything special.

Ojiya is a Japanese noodle place, but they have variety of other Japanese dishes on their menu. They have the best Pork Cutlet Bowl(Katsu Don). but no sushi or yakitori. It’s like a Japanese family oriented restaurant. Ojiya always have something new on their menu. Recently, they’ve just started summer special Cold Noodle(Hiyashi Chuka) and cold Udon. Tonkotsu ramen was my #1 for a long time, but their taste is always changing, improving and now my favorite is their Shoyu Ramen. I love oyster and they have great Fried Oyster and Oyster noodle(^^) If you wanna try good real Japanese food, try here.

More like a 3 ½ stars than 3. Not at all busy for dinner on a Saturday night; next door on either side had more customers. There were two other families and a couple dining when we arrived. Being that they weren’t busy, serivce was fast and responsive. Both waitresses tended to us with our orders and drinks. Food arrived fairly quickly as well. We all ordered ramen along with squid and tempura with rice plate. Everything looked good and the taste was, well, good too. Nothing that made me say, «Wow, this tastes great. Here, try some, or can I try what you’re having?» Both the pork and miso broth were good, but the cut of the pork was very flavorful. However, they could have put a little bit more meat in, though. Prices were a bit high, but the portions were pretty good. Overall, I can confidently say I’ve had better, but I’ve also had worse. So, it’s in the middle.

Located in the same area as In and Out I was wanting to try something new so I decided to check out this ramen store. I love ramen and it seems like it is hard to find a really good place to eat ramen. I have to say I did enjoy the service a lot. The girls always refilled my hot green tea and I did get my food promptly. But the food wasn’t as good as I wanted it to be. The flavor wasn’t there and really at least I was thinking that«this place is better than Sakura Noodle«Sooo that is why I’m giving them two stars. Also I don’t see the point of the bowl of rice like Ken was saying. really I didn’t want it. Might as well just go and give it to the homeless. Anyway it is time for me to try to find another place to eat ramen and actually love it! Any suggestions fellow Unilocalers, just send me a message ! :)

Been here twice and I really like this place. There are not many places that have Saba Shioyaki(broiled mackeral). I really love that stuff. So the fact that this place even had it for $ 8 is a steal! It’s also really good. Their agedashi tofu is really good too. It’s better than almost all the Japanese restaurants I’ve been too. Their fried rice is delicious too. It’s not your typical fried rice(like the Chinese type), they have their own twist to it, like adding a fried egg on top and furikake. The second time I went here I got their Gyu-don(beef bowl) and my friend had the«Fried Chicken» ramen bowl. I tasted broth of the ramen, and it was a mix of bland and fried chicken. My friend however liked it a lot, so it’s really up the person. The gyu-don, I really liked. It’s better than the Yoshinoya in the states, it reminded me of the gyu-don from Japan not from the U.S.(Maybe this is me missing Japan’s gyu-don?) This place is really a café style. Don’t have to go all the way to Little Tokyo for a Japanese«café». The prices are really good too, under $ 10. One can spend under $ 10 too if you have water. The waitresses here are really nice. It’s also nice and clean and they have picture menus on the wall. They also play Japanese music :) The bathroom is clean, although they should get a new soap dispenser even if they apologize for having a crappy one.

3.5 stars this ojiya is related to the ojiya izakaya in hacienda heights. apparently they opened 3 ojiya’s specializing in different japanese cuisine. this one is ramen; hacienda heights one is izakaya; chino hills is sushi. we came here because other places had a long wait. thought we would try this little place. food: agedashi tofu — perfect! i’ve had a lot of fried tofu. this one was very good. four pieces garnished with green onions, daikon, ginger tonkotsu ramen — ramen with half an egg, pork slices, bamboo shoots beef bowl — beef and onions over rice served with a potato salad and miso soup love the agedashi tofu!(and if you know me… you would know that i really know my agedashi tofu having tried it almost everywhere) i would order other appetizers in the future. tonkotsu ramen was good… not as good as the top-rated ramen places but still quite enjoyable. beef bowl was also delicious. we were going to get the tonkatsu bowl but we had fried pork chop for lunch already. they have a pepper and pepper shaker! haha. one is white pepper and the other is the red japanese pepper flakes. it is smart to put pictures of the food served so people can really see what they are getting. the reason i’m going to round up to 4 stars is… 1) service was friendly and good 2) food came out fast 3) enjoyable dinner that is nicely priced note: there are some new items that are pictured on the wall that are not on the menu. but i love pictures of food… so you know what you are getting. =)

Came here with my parents. The food was pretty good. My mom ordered the ketchup fried rice with chicken, which I must admit was pretty good! Reminded me of when I would just pound my rice with ketchup and eat it Hawaiian style. My dad had tonkatsu and gyoza, and the tonkatsu was good. I mean, it was tonkatsu, there isn’t much more you can do with that. Batter, panko, fry. My dad really liked the gyoza though. Looked delicious. I ordered the black cod with miso sauce. It was very moist and had a subtle, but good, flavor. The miso soup was also awesome. I think they use a little chicken broth in there or something, because it didn’t taste like your typical restaurant style miso soup. Overall, good food. Good service. No complaints. I’ll be coming here again.

So the other night, me and my thug posse(my 2 and 4 y.o. sons) mobbed the f**k up over Colima to put in some work… do a mission at Ojiya Ramen. Now not to be confused with the Ojiya over on Gale Ave, this Ojiya is not a yakitori joint. It’s a ramen/donburi//tempura type joint. Also this place is dry, meaning no alcohol… if I didn’t have the peewees with me, I woulda bombed the f**k out. I ordered the ten-don and since I’m a gangsta I ordered it with an egg on top. And just like every other guddamned place I make that seemingly oh-so-simple egg request, my girl taking my order looked at me funny but after a couple qualifiers, she got it right. I also ordered the grilled squid/chicken karaage(Japo G-code for fried chicken) plate and an extra order of rice. Came with miso, a thimble shot of potato salad and a green salad. Good grinds… really great service… girl was a real sweetheart. Acceptable price too. For all that and 3 sodas, $ 37 total, incl. tip. Chump change. When we finished, we just leaned back like true G’s and glared at all the patrons and loudly sucked our teeth… noticed a lot of people eating ramen, weird since I’m seeing a lot of reviews saying the ramen sucks here. Next time I’ll try the ramen because I’m a gangsta and since only God can judge me, I’ll be deciding that, cuz I’ll def be back. Satisfied and full of liquid(Diet Coke) courage, me and the posse rolled outta there to do our next mission… froyo.

My dad to «Grand Opening» restaurant signs is like a moth to the flame. No joke. So here we were at Ojiya Tokyo Ramen, my dad saw the sign and insisted we go in because the pictures outside looked good. I ordered the Corn Butter Ramen, while my dad got the lunch combination of the Mackeral fish and fried oysters. I remember thinking that it was a little odd that a chunk of butter was chillin in my soup, but I figured that it could add some sort of ridiculously good flavor to the soup. In reality, I don’t think it did much other than add more cholesterol to my meal. The noodle soup tasted normal, nothing special really. The fish was yummy, my dad squeezed a lemon slice on top and dipped it in the brown dipping sauce that came with his meal. I love, I mean LOVE oysters, but I realized that I only like them raw. Eating them in fried form changes the flavor and consistency which I didn’t really like. There’s tons of parking outside, but it can be difficult to find parking near the restaurant as it shares the lot with many other restaurants including In-N-Out and Curry House. Prices were fair. The one thing I really liked about the restaurant were the ridiculous amount of bowls along the right side of the wall when you walk in.

Large portions. Average food. Nice servers. For the $ 8.50 Lunch special, I got a giant bowel of miso ramen, gyoza & a small bowl of pork rice. This was definitely enough to feed two. While the rice and gyoza were pretty good, the miso ramen left something to be desired. The noodles had a good texture to it but the soup was a bit too salty. There were lots of veggies but it felt a bit disorderly for ramen. I kind of had high hopes for this place because the Ojiya on Gale is delicious. However, Ojiya ramen needs to improve some more to be competitive.

I somewhat reluctantly agreed to come to this place for lunch because my mother wanted to give it a try. My mom ordered the lunch special, which was a bowl of ramen loaded with veggies, 4 tiny dumplings, and a small bowl of rice with meager pork scraps. The ramen itself was okay — nothing to write home about — and the broth was just okay too. But it had a lot of veggies and some meat in it, and my mom and I basically got full off of that alone. I ordered a chicken katsu and grilled squid combo, which wasn’t anything impressive either. The katsu was super fried and oily, but the squid was actually flavorful and not bad! But if you’re looking for good ramen, go to Foo Foo Tei or Daikokuya — those are your safest bets!

I like the food at the Ojiyas in Chino Hills and Hacienda Heights, so I was pretty excited when I found out they opened a ramen-ya. I’m pretty sure they have ramen at the Chino Hills location, but admittedly, I had never tried it. Well, now I’m glad I never tried it because the ramen here is seriously MEH. Their specialty is a Tokyo style shoyu(soy sauce base) ramen. My grandma ordered this and I had a sip of her broth and we both agreed that it was weird. The soup seems to be based on bonito flakes and lacked a meaty flavor. My grandma called it healthy and was disappointed. I usually order shio ramen, but since Ojiya doesn’t offer it, I went with the tonkotsu. The tonkotsu broth was better, but still on the weak side. Overall, it was pretty bland. However, the chashu was tender and flavorful and I enjoyed the medium boiled egg. They really try to load you up on carbs here, because all ramens also come with a mini bowl of rice topped with either some veggies or chashu. It was ok, but nothing to rave about. I don’t think I would return and if I did, I definitely wouldn’t order the ramen. If you’re looking for ramen in the area, I would suggest driving down Colima another mile to Tamaya for a more serviceable bowl of noodles.

I was very excited to see another ramen place open near my place. However, after eating here, I am very disappointed. The prices are a little high for the amount of food you get. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen, with that they gave a complimentary side of rice with pickled vegetables. You can choose pork, but I figured I was already getting pork with my ramen. The broth was definitely rich, but there was not much flavor to it. The only reason I knew it was supposed to be pork was because that’s what I ordered. The noodles didn’t really stand out and they were very cheap with the condiments such as green onion and garlic. I am not really sure what the purpose of the free bowl of rice was for, after all you are already having a bowl of noodles. The pickled vegetabels on top, about a teaspoonful, was tasty, but like I said, it was just a teaspoonful. On a positive note, service was friendly and quick.

Two words pretty much sum up my ramen experience tonight as this restaurant: NOTASTE. First impression when looking at the menu. is that wow… the prices here are no joke! The ramen can run you anywhere between 8 – 10 bucks a bowl. But what made the prices SEEM better is that when you order ramen here, you will be served a complimentary bowl of either rice with vegetables. or rice with pork. We all opted for the pork and when it came out and was placed in front of me. I had to stop myself from laughing. Behold. a little bowl of plain white rice drizzled with some soy sauce and some pork shreds that amounted to no more than a piece of trident gum. It almost seemed like they were trying to say. «HAHA. GOTYOUTHERE!» But Okay okay. I take most humor well. and it WAS supposedly complimentary… so time to get serious. At least there will be no jokes when it comes to the ramen… right? We ordered three completely different broths tonight which were the Miso, Soy Sauce, and Pork Bone Base. I like variation so I always tell people to order different things from one another… that way we can see which items are better than others. So when it comes to miso, soy sauce and pork bone base… even someone who doesn’t eat ramen very often can tell you how different those three bases will taste. However what I tasted tonight from sampling all three. was vaguely the same flavor. Very disappointing and also shocking at the same time. It almost tasted like the whole bowl of ramen had been diluted with water! This establishment proudly boasts on its walls and menus how their ramen soup base has no MSG. and uses fresh ingredients in which they extract the full flavor to use for their broth. I really am no cooking genius. but this place is doing something wrong by either not adding the MSG or not making the stock correctly. Or quite possibly just by being cheap and heavily diluting their broth with water. I have mentioned a couple of times in my other reviews that rather than price, environment, service. and other factors that other Unilocalers would give higher stars for. I only rate exclusively on taste. And really hesitate to write this… but I might have to agree with the other Unilocaler and say that this might just be the worst ramen I’ve had in my life.

This place could be much better. I came a couple days after the grand opening and was excited to try another ramen place in the area. We ordered the chashu ramen, the pork belly ramen, and the pork fried rice with pickled vegetables. Both ramen come with a side of rice with either vegetables or pork on top. The vegetables are basically the same pickled ones that come in the fried rice. The noodles in the ramen didn’t have the same texture or bite, and the broth was definitely not up to par with other ramen. The meat didn’t melt in your mouth either. I would recommend everyone to order the fried rice, as that seemed to be the best out of the three. Bottom line, I probably won’t be coming back for a while, at least until I hear the food’s better!

UPDATE: 01÷22÷12: THEYCLOSEDDOWN! We go to all Ojiya in LA, except the one in Honolulu. When we knew that they’re going to open a new ramen place. we’re so excited. They have a simple menu, yet it’s a lot of variety. Love this place! The ramen is not too big, yet they gave alot of food. The Fiancé ordered chasiu ramen and it’s a lot of chasiu and it’s very tender and tasty. Love their dumplings too!!! This is our new favorite ramen place! Ojiya always rocks!!!
