It was nostalgic for me to see such a restaurant still exists on top of a Hyatt. It brought me back to the days of Equinox(not the gym) in San Francisco. It was a 360 degree revolving restaurant on top of Embarcadero Hyatt with breathtaking views of the Bay Bridge and the surrounding area. I was sad when it closed, and I wasn’t the only one. Unilocal still shows it as closed, and many reminisce about it by writing a review. Who remembers when these revolving restaurants were a huge HIT back in the good ‘olé days? I had to make a reservation! The service was impeccable! Our server Jared was awesome and funny(not Subway Jared, more like the jeweler), as he would put it. I like his sense of humor with all the patrons, extremely engaging. He mentioned this particular restaurant is one of the few revolving restaurants left. This one was built in 1977 and has been remodeled. They only serve dinner and closes at 10pm, make your reservations early to see the gorgeous sunset. One must order«View from the Top» cosmo, quite fitting for this marvelous dining establishment. The cheese and charcuterie consisted of Chef’s selection of local cheeses & preserved meats, Muscat grape marmalade, marinated olives, Marcona almonds, Indiana ale mustard, and grilled brioche. My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. We ordered the herb crusted prime rib and heritage pork shank osso bucco, both were absolutely delicious! Let’s not forget the amazing caramel salted walnut bread served warm — OMG! I hope this unique 360 degree revolving restaurant continues to thrive for many years to come. Folks in Indiana are lucky to have this iconic establishment. Highly recommended for dinner + drinks + view + ambiance = truly magical!!! P. S. If you want to read about SF’s revolving restaurant & what it was like, here’s the link.

I first have to say I didn’t eat here, but I came up to get a glass of wine. All other venues at the Hyatt are under construction so no choice. As soon as you get off the elevator the smell hits you. It’s the smell of years of grease. The kitchen ventilation must be inoperable or just clogged with years of frying. There is no bar, so you are seated in the«lounge» while you wait for your drink. Oh yeah, it rotates.

My wife and I ate here for our anniversary. The atmosphere was great. The view was incredible and the food was spectacular. I loved the prime rib and the lemon meringue bomb was by far the best dessert on the menu. The prices look high, but in regards to the service and view it is well worth it. The crab cakes were good and my wife’s hanger steak was good as well. Definitely a great place to consider for a romantic evening out. Make reservations because it was pretty full when we arrived. We had a 7:45 reservation time and missed the sunset by about an hour. Would have been nice to see that from the 21st floor. The moving floor made me a bit queasy at first but after 2 – 3 minutes I adjusted and had a wonderful time.

Go here for the view and experience, of course! We had pleasant service, although it seemed slightly unorganized. The drinks are reasonably priced, and were pretty good, and that’s what my date and I were mainly here for! It was a nice starter before heading to Tastings for food and wine!

Made reservations two weeks in advance and then were cancelled by the restaurant for a more affluent person. Discriminatory and uncaring attitudes for both parties.

Great view in a rotating top floor restaurant. Drinks were expensive — $ 10 for a cocktail, 7 – 9 for a beer. Food was expensive and not worth the price — entrees range 28 – 45. Good service.

My husband and I decided to visit the Eagle’s Nest during our visit to Indianapolis and we were not disappointed! From the top notch service to the amazing food… it was a memorable experience. Great views of the city as the restaurant rotated during dinner. It takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes to go 360° We started with the blackened Ahi Tuna as an appetizer and it was fresh and delicious. My husband had the pork cheek and I had the filet. Both were cooked perfectly. Mine came with the most amazing scalloped potatoes; practically melting in my mouth.

We had an amazing experience from beginning to end. The cocktails and elk appetizer was a great way to start. The salted Carmel and but bread was also a favorite. I ordered the filet and my boyfriend had the pork cheek. Both were wonderful but the pork cheek was better! A must try! Such a Romantic place with a beautiful view of Indy!

Stopped up here for drinks and to check out the view. We didn’t eat here so I can’t say anything about their food, but it did smell good! A bit pricey of a place, hence the stop for just drinks, but a neat place to check out. It takes a little over an hour for it to rotate all the way around. My one complaint is if you sit still, you can feel it making jerky movements as it rotates. Not a huge deal but a little weird. I’m sure it is a gorgeous city view at night– we went about 5pm– still a great view.

My boyfriend and I hit up the Eagle’s Nest during devour downtown. We’ve been meaning to try it out, but the price point is a bit higher than what we would normally pay, but hey! Life’s too short, right? So we took the(terrifyingly fast/high) elevator up to the 21st floor and had a great evening. Our waitress was wonderful and persuaded us to try to the crab cakes and a glass of wine. These were definitely additions to the Devour menu, but i’m glad we tried them. I love crab cakes, and these were incredible. They have a bit of a kick to them. I could have eaten 12. We both ordered the she-crab soup(yes, more crab) and it was also delicious. I had the prime rib for my entrée, and this is where i’m docking a star. It was okay. nothing special, and not memorable. Just okay. This was my entrée, so I had high expectations. They weren’t met. For dessert we both had a cookies and crème cheesecake bar. Yes. Yesyesyes. I think my favorite part of this experience was that I told my boyfriend, «wouldn’t it be cool to see a storm up here?» ANDTHENTHEREWAS A STORM. I took pictures. Seeing a storm roll in and getting photos of lightening strikes was so fun. To be honest, i’m not sure why this restaurant has so many low reviews. Service was great, the view was beautiful and unique and the food was very enjoyable.

The Eagles Nest is a place I’d been meaning to try for a while, especially after reading reviews and hearing about the view. It’s pretty easy to find and the valet was great. The service was so friendly and they kept checking us on and giving recommendations. They let us know the rotation takes a full hour and they plan to roll out our dishes accordingly. Our seats were low so the waitress have me a cushion to sit on. It was also pretty chilly the whole evening. I loved the classic romantic songs that were playing. We had a great date night and a great view even though it was a stormy evening. I liked the bread at the table. It was soft and sweet. But my husband compared it to cinnamon raisin bagels at Panera, and I have to say that’s pretty accurate to describe the taste. We both had the salmon. My husband loved it but I thought it was a little bland and fatty. I liked our appetizers best. We had the lobster tempura bites and crab cakes. Wish there were more than 2 crab cakes in an order! Our waitress made a nonalcoholic juice mix for me but we were still charged a liquor tax because it came out of the bar apparently. The dessert was meh. The Crème brûlée was too orange-y and so thin. The tip of your spoon hit the bottom of the dish. Crème brûlée at Harry and Izzy’s is soo much better. The bread pudding tastes okay but it wasn’t bread pudding. It was a small berry loaf of bread with a berry compote on the side. I’d give it 3.5 stars if I could. I would come back to show friends the view or a special evening. But this won’t be first on my list.

V took me to The Eagle’s Nest during one of a Devour Downtown week. First, the concept and location of the restaurant is neat; when we dined, it happened at a dusk in a slightly stormy summer weather. Our view of the downtown Indy was brilliant, photos of our view turned out very pretty as well. We were served by a sweet lady who worked at the Eagle’s Nest for a long time; it made a difference in our dining experience. Courses tailored for the Devour Downtown were presented nice, served warm and tasted fine. Though, their dishes were not something left me long lasting impression, not anything special. Ending our date night with glasses of champagne and sweets were very nice along with the view of Indy downtown. We appreciated a discount card gifted by our server as well. I do recommend the Eagle’s Nest for its location and view for any date night.

My husband and I came Monday to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had Jared and he was great! We started with the short rib gnocchi and it was awesome. I wanted to lick the bowl… well I pretty much did. My entrée was the pork cheek which was soooo good. It’s so tender, it basically melts in your mouth. My husband had their famous prime rib and was disappointed. I’m not sure if it was just a bad cut but it had way more fat on it than how prime rib usually comes. There was a glob that was the size of my palm. The meat was super chewy and not up to par. He came home and got sick and thinks it was because of how fatty and how just not good the prime rib was. Overall, my experience was perfect. His was great, aside from regretting his entrée choice, which is disappointing but happens.

Went to the Eagle’s Nest on Friday. My boyfriend tried to make reservations online but was not able. He tried calling, but it was a voice message, so he didn’t leave a message. When we arrived, the hostess was polite but made it seem like we were inconveniencing them by not having a reservation. She said they were at capacity but could squeeze us in. There were a LOT of empty tables. I had the special of the evening — surf and turf. I asked for my steak to be medium rare. I added a lobster bisque, which was BYFAR the best part of the meal. Delicious. My handsome date got the chicken and added a salad. He enjoyed his salad very much. The food took around 45 minutes to come out, but the view was wonderful so we didn’t mind. However, I cut into my steak and it was WELL done. I never send food back and eat just about anything, but I felt for $ 43, I should have my steak the way I want it. The waiter came over, saw my face, and saw my steak and said«that’s not even close to what you ordered.» He grabbed my plate without me saying anything. It took another 20 minutes for it to come out a second time. It was medium this time, but that’s close enough, and I was hungry! There was no apology or coupon for a next visit. Definitely eat here for the views and not for the food.

Ok, so I am not basing this review on the food. It might be incredible. However, the hostess was so rude to my party that we ended up leaving and not eating here. I was recently in Indy for a conference and stayed at the Hyatt. At the end of one of the days, a group of five of us decided to eat at the Eagle’s Nest because we heard the view was amazing and it was convenient since it’s at the top of the hotel. We were all dressed in business attire. As we arrived at the top, it was weird from the start. The hostess asked if we had a reservation and we said no. Then, we asked if she had space for a table of 5. She curtly said that they did but they weren’t used to having walk ins so they would have to go see if they could find where to seat us. It was a Wednesday evening and obviously not very busy in the restaurant as there were several tables open. When the hostess came back to seat us, she rudely said that they had a table but she wanted to make sure we knew that we were being seated near couples who were all celebrating special occasions so we needed to be considerate of that. She said she just wanted to make sure we knew that as we were seated. We were so caught off guard by her rudeness that by the time we set down, we were all so uncomfortable that we ended up leaving. I’m sorry, but if you have a restaurant on the top of a hotel that has a conference center, you have to be ready for walk-ins. And secondly, if a group of business professionals walk in, treat them professionally. It’s not as if we were going to be loud and rowdy in a really nice restaurant. I’m not sure I’ve ever had an experience like that but I will not be trying this place again.

So I went here last night with an old friend who I hadn’t seen since I last lived in Indy(2007). This place is easy to get to. It connects to the mall, the convention centers, etc. So that was a major plus. Never had to walk outside from the parking garage all the way up. Staff was friendly and helpful without hovering. We hung out in one of the lounge areas(comfy seats that helped me remember good posture is lady like). I ordered my typical moscato. While Moscato D’Asti is on the menu both online and in house, the server said they did have it, so I stuck with a regular Moscato(no bubbles for me). Had two glasses. My friend had two bud lights(in those aluminum bottles). And I had a crème brûlée. Total was just under $ 35 before tip. The crème brûlée was not the best I have had. I imagine because the container they make it in is a bit larger and not perfectly round. A french pastry chef friend of mine from St. Louis told me the key to getting that lovely crack(when you hit the Carmelized sugar top with your spoon) is in the right amount of sugar, the right amount of torching, and using a perfectly circular vessel of a particular size. Too small and you can easily over beat the sugar. Too large and it’s difficult to do it evenly. Based on his use of the word«vessel» it seemed believable ;) and he always made excellent crème brûlée. This was just average(if that). Oblong shallow dish… Nice creamy consistency though. All in all an a-ok experience. I appreciate servers who aren’t all over you, but mysteriously appear a few minutes after you’ve finished a drink to ask if you need another. And the view was lovely.

We met two friends here during Devour Downtown last week. We were seated promptly and took in the wonderful ambiance of the restaurant. It is beautifully decorated. The spinning does take some getting used to it sort of feels like a shaky clicking and not a smooth revolution. The entire table ordered soup and Prime Rib, except one person who ordered salad. I really suggest the salad over the soup, it was a large portion and the soup was too filling and heavy for such a heavy meal. The Prime Rib was truly excellent, it was well-cooked and well-seasoned. The serving size was huge I had leftovers for lunch the next day. One person did complain that they did not enjoy their meal because it was too fatty, and they felt they barely had any meat and it was mostly fat. I didn’t have that issue, personally, I felt like it was well-marbled. Drinks are VERY expensive. Drinks are usually expensive at restaurants, but this is especially so here. My friend ordered a glass of wine for about 9 dollars, and it was very small. We looked up the bottle because we enjoyed it so much we wanted to buy it again– it costs about 14 dollars. I also ordered a «Pink Passion» drink, it was delicious. We also ordered the chocolate coffee mousse for dessert. It was VERY filling and sweet, but good. Speaking of drinks, we had to request a drink menu twice. It was not offered to us. The service seems to be very hit-or-miss. Our waitress was not friendly at all, and seemed sort of annoyed and aloof. One of the other servers helped us twice and was very friendly, and the busboy(busman?) was also helpful and friendly. I would probably have left 5 stars if the waitress hadnt rubbed us wrong. She was not outright rude, but I felt like she thought we werent worth serving or something it was odd. We will definitely be going back. Also FYI, we discovered that there is an Indy Entertainment Book coupon for this restaurant.

How is it possible this place is still open? CLOWNATHONALERT ! This place should be the highest quality and most romantic place in the city… Of course… my decorating style is post high school and pre frat house… but…this place having been apparently recently remodeled… appears to be appealing to the Elvis Jungle Room crowd of interior design… however, it is interesting. The service… ummm…horrible. Two young ladies and I arrived ½ hour before our reservation and were directed to the«lounge» area… where we sat… and sat… and sat… with numerous staff walking indifferently by… with not even a hint of acknowledgement… finally a nice gentleman showed up and offered to take our order. Fine I guess… however there was no attempt at selling anything… no description of a special cocktail of the day… nothing relative to wine choices… thusly we ordered two whites and one red… the wines were barely drinkable… perhaps there were other choices but possibly that would have rendered the server exhausted had he mentioned or described them ? On to dinner where three other lovely women joined us… to the credit of the Eagles Nest… my other dining companions were 30 minutes late and no one complained… of course the place was no where near capacity, and remained so the entire evening. The food was mediocre at best… and EVERYTHINGWASWAYOVERSALTED… probably my fault as I neglected to request«no added salt». The universal opinion of the table was bland and over salted, and over cooked, as if many of the items were sitting in a steam tray all evening. Simply not enough value to justify the price. Finally the check… when we arrived I made it abundantly clear I was to receive the check… so of course… the server presents the check to one of the women at the table… one male at the table with 5 women(college gfs and current romantic gf)…and they give the check to the one woman who was visiting from out of town. Call me sexist, although I would rather you text, but I still open doors, pick up checks, a pinch buttocks… so I was in a palpitating fit of incredulity when these folks did not give the check to the«man»…and gave it to a visitor ??? Overall…an amateurish operation… but everyone was very nice and accommodating… disappointing because it could have been a near first class experience with very little additional effort from the staff and kitchen. However, you cannot beat the views, which would have been better had they turned down the«Enhanced Interrogation» lights… I think too damn bright. No real deal killers here, super nice people… we may go back for the view… and I will do a better job as a consumer and make better choices from the menu… and next time I will make sure I don’t get the check… utilizing Costanza logic and perhaps I will then end up with the check ??

*Note: Skip to the bottom for a TL;DR if this review is too long for you! I had a reservation for four at 7:15 pm on a Tuesday. Three friends from out-of-state were visiting for a conference and *really* wanted to go to Eagle’s Nest. We were addressed and seated promptly. The waitress seemed knowledgeable about the menu as she took our drink and appetizer orders and explained the evening’s specials. She made a point to mention that over all else, she highly recommended their prime rib. Our appetizer, shrimp cocktail served to ways, arrived roughly fifteen minutes later. Now, I’ll mention that said friends were staying in the Hyatt Regency and, as such, received coupons for free appetizers. So I would normally say that there’s no way I could justify $ 17 for four shrimp on a plate. But we weren’t paying for it, so I guess I can’t. Upon arrival of our appetizer, our waitress took our dinner orders. I had previously perused the menu online(as I almost always do), and had already decided that I would be having the aforementioned prime rib because I’m a voracious carnivore. It just so happened that my friends were feeling quite the same that night, so four orders of prime rib it would be! The time was 7:30. After talking among ourselves, imbibing and watching the sun set over the city, the manager suddenly appeared. He stood awkwardly over our table for a few seconds before starting with«Well, when the manager appears, it’s usually not with good news…» He then proceeded to tell us that they had miscalculated the availability of prime rib, and they were completely out. At 7:30. On a Tuesday. Furthermore, they had decided to let us sit for 30 minutes before letting us know, and the time was now after 8:00. The manager mentioned that of course he’d be willing to make substitutions, such as the filet. He wanted to substitute four cuts of steak that were almost half the size of what we’d originally ordered. Can’t say I was all that interested. My friends, who are geniuses at controlling these types of situations, formulated a plan. When our waitress returned a few minutes later with menus, she was asked if the $ 25 lobster tail could be tacked onto our dinner at no cost because of the trouble. Absolutely, she proclaimed, and we decided to have the small filets(now with more lobster!) added on. I asked to substitute mushrooms for the mashed potatoes. The time was now 8:15. We had been at Eagle’s Nest for an hour and had just now put in our dinner order. We sat. We waited. We sat and waited some more. The company was pleasant and the view of the city was beautiful, which probably attested to the fact that we didn’t realize it was now almost 9:00 and no one had re-visited our table since we placed our(second) order. We finally spotted our waitress and asked if we would see food coming to our table any time soon. She disappeared to go check. Finally, our food arrives. The time is now 9:15. We sat at our table for two hours before anything other than our original appetizers appeared. The asparagus was under-seasoned and under-cooked. While edible, it was the kind of asparagus that make children hate vegetables. Additionally, I’m not really that into filets. I’m a ribeye girl who enjoys a nice, marbled cut of meat. I’m biased. My filet was cooked perfectly to rare(difficult, I know) and was very tender, but I just wasn’t that into it. The mushrooms I had ordered tasted(and looked) like they were poured from a can. We had to flag down the manager to inquire about dessert and coffee. The mandarin orange crème brûlée(flavor changes daily) and cheesecake were both fairly good. The chocolate mousse, while tasty, was about the same size as a Little Debbie Ho Ho. It looked so tiny and sad on such a big plate. We finally got our bill around 10:00. We received four free lobster tails, as well as 25% off our entrees for our trouble. We made it out of the restaurant exactly three hours after we had been seated. Had the food or slow service been better, I would have given additional stars here. Two stars reflect the view and price adjustment. TL;DR — While the manager made the proper adjustments to our bill and comped us $ 100+, the quality of food was still lacking for the price and the service moved at a snail’s pace. I wouldn’t recommend Eagle’s Nest for more than a drink or dessert to enjoy the view.

«Is that the Speedway? I can see the Pyramids!» This is a must-try at some point if you live in Indianapolis. The rotation alone is cool(maybe stop up just for a drink or an appetizer if you don’t want to splurge), but the food is very good, too. I’ve been here twice. The first visit was several years ago. My understanding is that they renovated around the time of the Super Bowl. The décor is definitely more chic now. The good is high quality, no doubt. You’re probably paying a little premium for the view, but it’s worth it for a special occasion. On my recent visit, I had the duck. It was good, but not amazing – maybe a little less flavorful than I’d hoped for. But, I finished it all, so that’s always a good sign. For an appetizer we tried the glazed peaches and they were not something I’d get again. They were fine, but nothing special. Everyone at our table cleared their plates. Portions and presentation were all good, too. The most memorable part of the food was the mushroom side dish. That’s a must if you like mushrooms! Our service was fine, save for an initial delay after our drink orders. We were drinking wine and beer, so it wasn’t like they had to mix cocktails. But I appreciated the attentiveness after that initial bump and the recommendations to narrow down the menu. There are a lot of tasty choices so you shouldn’t have trouble finding something you’ll like. I tasted the halibut was great. Our waitress informed us(without asking) that the salmon was farm raised and that she’d go with either the grouper or the halibut, and I appreciated that heads up. For dessert, I liked the chocolate caramel cake. For a fun game, try to hold off from going to the bathroom until it rotates around to your table. I am super mature.
