Smoking Iron Alterations

Went in to have some canvas sewn up for a tent and get my kilt altered. Mike did a GREAT job! I’ve recommended him to may friends and they have all raved about the work he did for them. He also does historical clothing which looks better then the originals!

Dropped off some canvas to turn into a diamond tent and a kilt to be altered. Mike was very friendly and the work was done very fast with great quality. He also has historical clothing that he makes that looks better then the originals. I will definatly be back!!!

I spoke to the owner of this shop, he called me upon seeing my review. To his credit he wanted the chance to make things right, unfortunately I do not live in town –which brings me to why I accepted the coat in question in the first place, I could not afford to give him another week to «fix» it. At this point, I have had the jacket altered and dry-​cleaned and it fits wonderfully.
He did not offer a refund and I did not ask for one but he did insist that he does stand by his work and implied that the dry-​cleaner (which I guess he uses) may have dropped the ball.
In the end my impression is that the jacket was not tailored and if it was, it certainly wasn’t for a guy my size. It was not dry cleaned which I told him as well on the phone. (I paid for both services)
In the end, I will amend my comments about his lack of chalk use because he says he used it. Again, if he did it begs the question… ugh, never mind…
I am still giving you my impression of my experience which I relayed as honestly as I could. I do appreciate his call and him wanting honor his standards but I still say this was a wholly unsatisfying experience. I’ll add a star for the follow-​up. But if I had it to do again, I would not use The Smoking Iron.

Mike has helped me with a number of different items. He is fantastic! Very nice, affordable and does good work. He also accepts debit cards! I was recommended to him by a girlfriend of mine and I am so glad she suggested him. I love being able to support a local business!
