Awesome, friendly staff, but the doughnuts(dense, coarse, and yeasty) were not my favorite. I’m a coffee fiend but didn’t like the espresso cream at all. The strawberry jam was super tasty.

Yes! Espresso cream tasted strongly of espresso which I really enjoyed. Blueberry was very good. I loved the chocolate on the bacon. Very dark and rich. Vegan is soy and dairy free! Perfect! A donut my daughter can eat. We will be back.

Yummy!!! Had(shared) a toasted coconut and a dark chocolate glazed vegan doughnut. Delicious! We Like that they are«normal» size and not oversized. Very fresh and very moist! Nice service. Small little shop, but worked just fine for us. Good.

Sometimes places try so hard to be cool their product suffers. I don’t understand why donut places around broad ripple just can’t make a normal good donut. These were dense and had a weird flavor. Donuts should be light, these were not. I just spent $ 5.00 on two bad donuts. You can almost get a dozen of great donuts at Longs for $ 5.00. I’m a donut snob but I’d rather get a donut at marsh over this place.

Designer/craft doughnuts. 18-$ 23 for a dozen depending on the style you choose. This location is very small. One round table and a few other random seats. Doughnuts are tasty an I highly recommend the expression cream filled. A lot of vegan options too. Not where I would go on a regular basis but a place I would go to treat myself.

Tiny shop. Easy to miss. Very pleasant young lady behind the counter. No normal size cake donuts. Yeast doughnuts. Cinnamon sugar and espresso filled. A little on the tough side. A little greasy. A little bland. I must have caught them on an off day. If I’m going to be bad and have a donut it better be pretty good. Willing to try them again but maybe at their main location in Fountain Square.

These are the yummiest vegan donuts(I’ve been trying vegan donuts when offered a chance for a decade +, so I have a handful to which I can compare Rocket 88’s). The flavor selection I’ve seen when I’ve stopped in is ideal for me– a few creative/fun & a couple of classic flavors choose from, not enough to be overwhelming. The staff is sweet as can be. I’m pumped that they are in the neighborhood, and grateful for my waistline & wallet that my commute no longer takes me right past the shop daily.

Ok, this is just provisional… I arrived just before closing and the lady behind the cash register was super cool. However, t there were only two donuts left… chocolate old fashioned. They weren’t very chocolately… but worse, they were like bricks. SO dense, I could have used them as hockey pucks. I couldn’t even finish them. I“ll be back to taste some of their more innovative donuts and hopefully to raise my score.

We had these at the office one day and everyone sampled a bite of each one. I love the unique flavor combinations — definitely not your traditional donuts but so good. They are also extremely dense, which isn’t necessarily what I prefer.

Well, we had heard about the shop in Fountain Square and saw the Unilocal 5 star rating and decided to give Rocket 88 on College Ave a try. Pretty underwhelming. The space is small and somewhat cozy but very limited seating. The donut selection was limited to about ten, not sure if this was because we arrived at 9:45am on a Sunday and they ran out of others? Regardless the display was simply one donut of each flavor on plastic trays. So much more unappealing than a display showing more quantities. The quality of the donuts was similar to what you find at a gas station. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and it was refreshing when they gave a sweet but confused older woman free coffee. We normally go to Dancin Donut thus we are a bit spoiled. Hopefully Rocket 88 can bump up their game because the world needs more donut shops!

Thursday mornings I meet with a few close friends for coffee to catch up on life, and we decided to mix it up and try this out-instead of our neighborhood Starbucks. They brew Mile Square coffee, which was delicious! Only $ 2.50 for a large :) it was about $ 5 for a large coffee and one donut-so pretty affordable! The space is super small-seems like more of a grab and go type place. There’s a total of 7 seats, so our group of 5 took up most of the sitting area. I had the brown butter pretzel donut, which was really yummy! There were a few pretzel pieces on the top, which I didn’t care for but the icing was great! My friends had the cinnamon sugar and the old fashioned, and they both were raving about the flavor. For the quality and price of the donuts and coffee, Rocket 88 doesn’t disappoint! However not a place I would stay to hang out… but I would come back to pick something up on the go!

You haven’t really lived a full life until you’ve tried the dark chocolate and bacon doughnut from Rocket 88. They bake a huge batch in the early AM and when they run out(which they usually do) they close up shop for the day. I had been dying to get over to this place before they run out. I tried once while taking a stroll through fountain square and made it there just as they were locking up. It was like the wedding scene out of Wayne’s World when he’s banging on the church doors screaming«Nooooo Cassandra!!». So needless to say, when they opened up a new location in SoBro I was stoked because it was closer to where I lived and I knew I’d beat the rush for once. So there I was hanging out at home on Easter morning, drinking my first cup of coffee when I checked Instagram to see what’s happening in the world, and Rocket88 had posted that they were open, on Easter no less! I jumped up, threw some clothes on and scurried down to Sobro just in time to snag the last dark chocolate and bacon! Sooooooo worth the wait and the rush and now my life is complete. Thank you Rocket 88 for being so dope. Your doughnuts make me go nuts

The donuts at Rocket 88 are simply fantastic. I had the pleasure of sharing a few of these yummy goodies with my fiancée and I can only describe our experience as transcendent. The coffee is by no means subpar either. We did have a little trouble when at first one of our doughnuts was left out of the order but the staff quickly and kindly fixed this error. I would suggest these goodies to any and all who wish to partake in the best life has to offer.

So enthused that one of my favorite doughnut shops has come to my neighborhood. With delicious doughnuts, good coffee, and an honest local product they fit right in. The cherry on top the staff is super friendly and relateable. As i understand this is serving as a pop up for now, so the décor is not as… established as it is at the kitchy fountain square venue. Today I had the espresso cream doughnut. It was pretty good, I must be honest that I enjoyed the outtersds more… they’re buttery flaky creamy and leave a little something something on the tip of your time. The espresso cream was ok… I think it may mix better with more of like a cadbury crème and less espresso… Can’t wait to try their next concoction

Rocket 88 takes some of the guilt of stuffing your face with doughnuts by offering all natural, organic ingredients. Their menu of the specialty donuts changes daily, so make sure to check their web site. While I appreciate their unique offerings such as the Glazed Ginger Beer and Dark Chocolate with Bacon, the one that will have me coming back time and time again is the Double Chocolate Old Fashion. A chocolate cake doughnut covered in sweet chocolate icing is the perfect for any and all chocolate cravings, a bit of heaven in doughnut form. The store itself is pretty small. They have a few tables for those who want to enjoy their picks right away. They don’t make the doughnuts here, so get here early, because they sell out quick and are only open till 2pm. The store does have a small parking section out front, which is nice if you need to get your donuts on the run.

I should preface this review by saying I have not yet visited this new R88 location, but I have a kind professor who brought her students three boxes of R88 donuts to her 8AM class on a cold, snowy Wednesday #blessed The chocolate and regular glazed looked great, but the green tea cake donut with pink and green icing caught my eye so I decided to live on the edge and try something new and different. It’s not that I don’t like donuts; I generally just don’t seek them out. This donut might’ve changed my anti-donut mentality. WHAT. I shoved that in my face faster than you can say calories. Cake donuts are clearly superior to yeast and this cake donut was mighty fine, slightly moist(sorry if you hate that word) and not too dry, with a dense texture. Very filling! Oh and I could actually taste the green tea(though not overpowering) and the inside cake was slightly green! #Authentic. I am so glad I woke up at the crack of dawn and trekked across campus to my dreaded 8AM, only to be greeted with a napkin and a green tea donut. Wouldn’t it be great if every day started out like that? *minus the cold*

I have to admit I was a bit put off when I walked in at 11am on a Saturday and there were a total of ten donuts left. However, out of the four varieties left on the counter, one really caught my eye: green tea hibiscus. After trekking home I eagerly bit into this dense, sweet piece of heaven. This is not a yeasty donut, but a heavy, cakey one with plenty of frosting on top. The flavors are subtle, but this is one of the best donuts I’ve had. Some tweaks need to be made to the shop itself. I’m no germaphobe… I actually scoff at those dispensers of hand sanitizer I see everywhere, but donuts were out on the counter without a glass shield or any sort of barrier from the line of customers. I also appreciate minimalist chic, but the space is really lackluster. Some waters or milks in the fridge would be a great addition, too. I’ll be back again, but next time much earlier so I can check out all of the creative varieties!

You know those meals that magically transport you back in time to your childhood by taste? For me, Rocket 88 provides just that time machine. Many a mornings before Catholic grade school and many a Sunday morning were spent at the local family owned bakery. An iced chocolate yeast(or two) and a little carton of chocolate milk was my poison. Fast forward a couple decades. I no longer live in my hometown and that bakery has unfortunately been long shuttered. Now, I’ve had my fair share of doughnuts in that time, even chocolate glazed yeast, but nothing compared, ever. That is until this past Sunday. One bite into the chocolate glazed yeast from Rocket 88 and I was 10 again, wearing my uniform and walking to school. Dare I say it was even better than what I can remember! It was like watching your favorite childhood movie… but in HD… and with your mouth. I’ve had plenty of other doughnuts from Rocket 88, and they’re all scrumptious, but I’m a creature if habit, and I don’t think I’ll have a choice to make from now on. I’m sold.

I’m pretty smitten with SoBro, my favorite neighborhood in Indy with all of my favorite spots. As long as I live in Indy, I’ll live here. Lucky me, Rocket 88 has given me another reason to stay with the opening of their second location on 49th and College. Goodbye, morning drives to Fountain Square. I’m only one stroll down the Monon away from fresh, spongy rings of fried dough and glaze. The only thing better than Rocket 88’s standard selection? A Leslie Knope, the waffle donut they sell on Wednesdays and Sundays. Add a cup of Mile Square to my order, and I’ll walk out the happiest lady on College Ave. Join me in welcoming the latest addition to SoBro by picking up the best donuts in the neighborhood!

I’m so happy Rocket 88 opened nearby, being dissatisfied with the other SoBro doughnut place. I visited early Sunday on their opening weekend, with no wait… perhaps owing to the snow. This location is a satellite of the original Fountain Square location and kitchen; the doughnuts are not baked at this new location and once they are out, they’re out. There is a small entry area with perhaps 3 – 4 chairs, not really a place for hanging out, more a grab n’ go type atmosphere. The walls are covered in modern wood paneling, with succulents sporadically placed about… sort of a minimalist vibe. Rocket 88 still offers the best tasting«gourmet» doughnuts in Indy at prices ranging from $ 1.75−2.50 each. No issues with burnt or overly sweet-tasting offerings, it all tastes fresh and homemade. On my first visit, I picked up the cranberry-orange, root beer Leslie Knope waffle, brown butter, espresso cream, mint chocolate popcorn, and gingerbread old-fashioned. All tasted amazing… and a root beer-glazed waffle doughnut… yes please! The espresso cream was very lightly sweetened and tasted like it was made with freshly ground espresso. This location also offers coffee and I had a few glimpses of an espresso machine, although did not order any drinks. I think if visitors realize that this is a to-go type location and don’t get hung up that there isn’t a lot of space to hang out and WiFi freeload, then the reviews should be good. I’m hoping they collaborate with Sinking Ship on later hours, perhaps on the weekend. With Rocket 88 and Sinking Ship’s vegan offerings, I see a lot of overlap and awesome possibilities… a coffee stout and espresso cream doughnut? Doughnut & craft beer brunch? Drool.
