Naket Tchopstix is like an old friend that never disappoints. Its been awhile since our last visit, but when the hubby said he wanted sushi for his birthday dinner, Naket Tchopstix was the first place that popped into my head. We were there on a Saturday night. The restaurant was busy but we were still seated very quickly. We started with steamed dumplings, that tasted homemade and a little floury… not the best dumplings I’ve had, but ok, followed up by some calamari. The sauce that came with the calamari was very good. The calamari itself was well cooked and tasty. It was completely fresh and tender, but hey we are in a landlocked state. We followed up our appetizers with 4 rolls. Of course we had to have the famous Playboy roll, followed up by a Mango Roll, California roll(for the kid) and a finally roll that I can’t remember. They were all relatively good. Nothing stood out as either really bad or really eccentric and different, it was just good. Our dinner was finished off with complementary Japanese ice cream with candles! Overall I would rate my experience a B. Very average but acceptable and worthy of a return visit!

Loved it. I have been in Indy for 9 months and looking for a regular restaurant. I found it. Wait staff friendly and prompt. Wife is vegan and they had tons of items for her. Atmosphere is nice. I admit the staff seems to be stretched thin but this place seemed hit or miss on how busy it is. Sometimes it’s busy and sometimes not. Probably hard to plan schedules like this. Overall I am a fan and will be a regular now. Thanks

I reeeeealy wanted to love this place! But honestly It was Meh ;-) I have made it a personal mission to seek out The Worlds Best Sushi Houses… Needless to say, after lunch yesterday, I am still lookin in Indy… The décor was appealing and the Bulgoki Bento Box was plenteous in nature, however the citrus vinaigrette was abhorrent on the salad and the excessive amount of sweetness of the Bulgoki Gravy left much to be desired. I had also heard much about the Playboi Roll and how it comes presented in flames… A for presentation!!! D on taste because although the chat oil smell was awesome. The extra charbroiled aka BURNT taste was a bit unbearable. It was a bit pricey as well for the underwhelming meal. I don’t slam restaurants because everyone can have a bad day so I’ll just say it was Meh. And I’ll be back to give them another chance if SOMEONE else PAYS

usually very pleased with this restaurant! I get the fire and caterpillar rolls and almost always love them! This past Friday, 11/27, I got food poisoning from one of those two rolls, or the crab Rangoon. So despite them usually being good, I will now be wary and inspect the rolls before I eat them.

Good casual sushi dining. The Playboy roll is served wrapped in foil and on fire which gives it a delicious charred flavor. It’s really delicious! They have a large menu so it’s good for everyone, even if you’re not a sushi lover. No reservations needed.

When you get seated in a less than busy restaurant and there are two wait staff covering four tables with customers and no one has even taken a drink order after 20 minutes, you leave and go elsewhere. That’s what we did, and found a much better Asian fusion place just a little west on 96th where we received top notch service and delicious food. Do yourself a favor and skip naked chopstix and go to gurescu up the road.

Love playboy roll. Usually very good but last night burnt. If the foil has holes immediately ask for another roll so not burn inside but in general I love their sushi’s

Usually enjoy service and food there. Today went for lunch carry out, was charged for all three meals only to return to work short one lunch meal. Contacted Resturant who left me on hold over 10 minutes. Had to call back only for server to advise that manager wasn’t in and they didn’t know what to do. Finally received a call back and a refund. Service has been lacking lately, will be a while before I visit again.

The food was delicious, I had the Dancing Dragon Roll and my boyfriend had the Sushi Set A. However, I’m taking stars away for service. I’ve been a server/bartender before, and I know the job can be extremely frustrating – therefore, I don’t expect the employees to be super bubbly. But our server(also the bartender) made it very obvious he wasn’t in the best of moods. He was very short with us, quiet, and didn’t check on us at all while we were eating. He wasn’t exactly RUDE by any means, but I didn’t feel exactly welcome either.

Okay, I got wasabi’d and was very upset about it. This location is very good for dine in. I even ended up having my birthday dinner here. The wait staff is great and I love the food(particularly the crab rangoons that don’t have any green onions!) The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is that if you don’t go during«normal» lunch or dinner hours you might get rice that has some hard grains(not sure if it undercooked for the dinner rush or dried out from the lunch rush) but in general this place is pretty great.

service was ok, sushi was just ok and at least it wasn’t cold from sitting in a fridge, restaurant smelled and almost didn’t want to stay to eat. Salad was barely edible and watery. Probably won’t be back. Having worked for Japanese corporations, I’m a sushi snob but typically don’t expect a lot for Indiana sushi restaurants.

I’ve been to the Broadripple location and I was not a fan.(I think I have a review for it) I got taken here for lunch for a work event and figured this will be the 3rd try for them in a different location. The result? Meh. It was better than the experience I’ve had in the past, but still not enough to wow me. I had the Salmon Bento Box and it came with 2 pieces of California Roll which is common, but I wish it could be something a little more unique.(even Spicy Tuna or something) It also came with a spring roll, crab wonton and two dumplings(all fried). There was a half cup of stir-fried veggies, a cup of rice, and the salmon. The fried items were good(duh, they are fried), the California rolls were boring, the vegetables were very good but so few, and finally the salmon was a bit dry and flavorless. There was some teriyaki sauce on it that gave it flavor, but it mostly made it salty and sweet without any decent flavor. Although I did not enjoy my lunch here, this was still a step up from my previous visits to naked Tchopstix.

The NORTHSIDE Naked Chopsticks is the only option(sorry Broad Ripple) if you want a consistently amazing dining experience, great drinks and incredible sushi creations. The Northside location wait staff, chefs, bartenders & hostesses are all professionals(again, sorry Broad Ripple location — you’ve failed on all fronts too many times — never going back!).

Usually we enjoy this Naked Chopsticks location. But this evening it was horrible. No one available to seat us or greet us when we arrived for dinner, service was awful! Our waiter had zero personality, forgot everything ordered. Food was not up to normal standards. Then as we left the host didn’t even reply to our goodbyes or give any response whatsoever. Will not return to this location. Time to find a new sushi restaurant.

This place is disgusting. My mom and I walk into the restaurant and have to wait over 5 minutes before being seated. The host says«pick any table you want to sit at and I’ll follow you with menus». So we go look for a table and 14 tables are dirty and the rest are occupied. We didn’t even look at the other half of the restaurant.(I have pictures of the dirty tables) so the host cleans a table off for us then hands us sticky and dirty menus. Everything in this place was dirty and sticky. And the restaurant was in no hurry to clean the tables. None of them were cleaned by the time we left. I would not visit this facility again.

Really was up for liking this place but am sorry to say I was disappointed. First of all, I know there’s a polar vortex going on but it was FREEZING in here! I wore my parka the entire meal and was still shivering. Maybe our table was especially drafty? On to the food, the salad wasn’t anything to write home about, and the two rolls I ate weren’t generally as flavorful or large as I have been accustomed to at other sushi restaurants. Maybe I ordered the wrong ones here. I would go back or maybe try the Broad Ripple location if others were choosing the place but wouldn’t come back on my own.

Naked Tchopstix is the kind of place that can wow you with one menu choice and disappoint you with the next. Having said that, I’ve found the outstanding menu items here and so this is on my short list of restaurants to visit whenever I’m in Indy. I can’t speak to the more traditional sushi and sashimi options, but there are several standout nouvelle-sushi options that keep me coming back here. The top of the heap for me is the ORANGESUNSHINE roll, a salmon-based roll with orange slices and fish roe, drizzled with a lemony sauce. Dab a bit of wasabi on it before plopping it in your mouth and your tastebuds will be doing a happy dance. It’s a wonderfully sweet, light yet complex flavor that blends perfectly with the wasabi. Orange slices and salmon don’t sound like a good combination, but if you like sweet sushi you’ll go nuts over this dish. Truly a standout. The other roll we frequently order is the PLAYBOYROLL, which you are guaranteed to see delivered to many tables. They set fire to the aluminum foil-wrapped roll at your table, which warms the roll and makes it a unique and interesting choice. It’s a savory roll, a bit on the salty side, but very good. A lot of the standout dishes on the menu will be Korean… the pan-Asian entrees often fall short of the mark. For a delicious treat, try the DOLSOTBIBIMBAP, which, along with the Orange Sunshine Roll, is one of the things we must get here. It’s served in a hot bowl, and you mix the ingredients in while the rice sizzles away at the bottom of the bowl. It comes with a spicy sauce, but we’ve found that we enjoy it more without, despite the fact that we both adore spicy food. The quality of the ingredients and preparation is good enough that we don’t want to mask it with a sauce. The SHRIMPSHUMAI are good, but won’t wow you. This place is worth a few tries to find the things you like on the menu… once you do, it is worth it!

Naked Tchopstix on 96th street offers two rooms you can dine at — bar and general area. Both of them have appealing décor. Bar area is great for small group gatherings and is more intimate. Place itself is famous for Playboy Roll. Give it a try. If you are craving something spicy — try Mafia, Dragon, or Voodoo roll. They also have great Kim Chi — they are not only spicy, but also healthy as they contain probiotics. Expect to be seated pretty quickly and get an attentive server. Both times I was there with friends the service was superb.

The concept and atmosphere are appealing — streamlined Westernized family-friendly blend of Sushi and newly popular Korean. Disappointing for a «sushi snob» on the simplest points: hot green tea was clearly a tea bag left for a couple of minutes in luke-warm water(almost room temperature arriving at the table). Shumai came out on an open plate vs. a traditional bamboo container with lid, also luke-warm. Same with edamame — cold and bland. Seaweed salad cold and salty as intended, but greasy. The rolls were an improvement(Corona and Playboy). Flavorful and obviously not required to be hot, although Playboy is fired up at the table. With multiple options on the North Side, I would struggle to find a reason to come back.
