Good price for the portions. But not my first choice. On a positive note: A friend and I decided to share a «barbecue beef» sandwich and a half order of rib tips, and it was enough to feed us then– and then we had left overs for later. I definitely got the«bang your my buck» feeling. We didn’t spend over $ 25 combined. I would definitely only take-out in the place, definitely. However,(yes, however) the meat was tough. Like really friggin tough. Which is never a great adjective for barbecue. Ever. It was so tough it gave me empathy for any senior citizen that’s ever been challenged by any sort of food experience. I almost choked three times from trying to force my throat to swallow the meat just because my jaws were exhausted from chewing. Which kind of inadvertently canceled out the fact that we got the generous portions. Perhaps, pessimistically it could lead one to think they were attempting to get rid of the last servings of the jerky, I mean barbecue… Which would explain why we had enough food for four. The sauce was greasy to say the least and it looked loose like Carolina style sauce, but definitely tasted of sugar and water, I wouldn’t expect them to be bottling it anytime soon. Moving on, the«barbecue beef» sandwich was NOT, I repeat, not brisket. Which was kind of confusing because it is a BBQ joint– brisket is a staple in 99% of them(so welcome to that 1 percentile King’s Ribs). It kind of figures though, because the menu was vague to say the least. But imagine my foodie horror as I unveiled this box beef that had the consistency of pot roast but with that disappointing Crock Pot taste. Eeek! not my favorite by far. Plus they put zero sauce on it, so either way it would have been a lose-lose situation. Needless to say, it was wasted. I mean don’t get me wrong it wasn’t all bad. The rib tips that weren’t drenched in that water sauce or that I didn’t almost asphyxiate on we’re in fact delicious, moist and tender. I counted about 5 tips out of possibly 25 that didn’t fail us that day. I’ve eaten King’s Rib since I was a kid. And honestly it’s like Russian Roulette. You may get a good day with tender cuts of ribs and tips and pulled pork… But other days you get huge mouthfuls of pure greasy sugar soaked leather, that make you die a little inside. I just want to not choke, or break my jaw to get sustenance. Is that too much for a foodie girl to ask? Long story short. You need food on a lunch break, in-between meetings or commutes? Try it out, you’ll be nourished and won’t be served anything inedible. But I like to eat, food that is not based in mediocrity so I just couldn’t really fathom being a regular there. So try it, I’m all for local businesses. Just don’t bring your grandma or anyone over 65 if their teeth aren’t what they used to be. But please whatever you do– do not order the barbecue beef. –dev

Kings Rib always cooked to perfection! Tender and juicy. I like them without the sauces. However I always buy the sauce on the side. The sides are good too. Mac & cheese, greens, bread, and chicken is delicious as well. They have desert available for that sweet tooth.

This is strictly a take out joint! When you walk into the dinning room you’ll have second thoughts, but trust me, it’s worth overlooking that. I love their house sauce, it’s sweet and nicely seasoned, not a hint of heat. And their mac & cheese is just like the kind you got in your Indiana school cafeteria. At least the mac & cheese served at my school was awesome, as in the most valuable food in the lunch room barter system. Pick up a rib tip dinner complete w/mac & cheese on your way to the track this May, and you’ll be the envy of the bleachers!
