This was some good bbq. The corned beef was fantastic. I got cheesecake, peach and apple cobbler, brisket and chicken as well. Everything was good and they were kind and accommodating.

This place is amazing. I was given a sample of corned beef right before ordering and I completely changed my entire dinner plan. The corned beef is the best I have ever had and corned beef is not an easy meat to master. The brisket was also insanely tender and flavorful. I also tried the rib tips which were great but a little pricier than what I am used to BUT — that’s not to say they aren’t worth that price. The sauce is also fantastic. Hanks got it going on! Also, the owner is the nicest guy!

Hank just plainly makes the best damn brisket in the world! Just as good is their special potato salad. I love this place! Only problem is that it’s all take out, but that’s never stopped me from getting a start on it while exiting the building.

Tonight I was craving bbq, so I searched on Unilocal to find a bbq place. I’M SO happy I decided to try Hanks. Delicious bbq. I ordered a pull pork sandwich and it was very tender and the sauce wasn’t spicy but just right. I DEFINITELYWILLRETURNTOTRYMOREONMENU

Some of the best beef brisket in the city. I prefer the sliced over the chopped, but it’s just personal preference, as both are delicious! You can take it with sauce or without. The mac n cheese is a nice combination of creamy with just a little crust on the outer edges. The beans are saucy and a little smoky as though they’ve been cooking low and slow. DONOT pass up the cobbler. I can’t say which is better, the peach or the caramel apple, because they both have their merits. Get both, and you decide.

I’m going to ask Hank to marry me. The brisket is insanely good. Is this what smoked chicken is supposed to taste like? Good God, where has this been all my life? The baked beans are like what dad makes(which means they are the best) and the potato salad has a distinct Caribbean flavor. Call ahead and order because this level of perfection takes a little time– and it’s worth it. Get it home and make a saucy mess of yourself.

Winnah Winnah perfect for dinnah. Food is awesome, gives those southern state BBQ places a run for their money. This is a take out, no tables, phone ahead preferred. Great service, friendly people, I would definitely go back to Hanks for some good ol’ BBQ.

Best beef brisket ever.!!The staff was really friendly and also gave us samples of brisket and corn beef. Of course I got the beef brisket sandwich and some to take home too. We also got ribs and bought bottle of Hank’s BBQ sauce which was equally great. They brisket was the star. Thank goodness we got extra to take home. We couldn’t stop eating it. I wish I lived closer. Hank knows what’s going on! I have been on the search for amazing bbq since I moved to Indianapolis and Hank’s is on the top of my list. When you first walk in, it feels like you’re in a check-cashing joint or something along those lines. It’s very simple, with a few chairs in the waiting room and a big open window where you place your order. If it’s your first time visiting Hank’s they will offer you a sampling of their meat. They know it’s good and they’re not afraid to give you a sneak peek. The only thing I can really comment on is the brisket cuz that’s all I’ve ever had. I mean… it’s called«Hank’s Brisket» so… ya know what I mean? The brisket is melt-in-your-mouth delicious and their sauce is absolutely amazing. The brisket is served on a bun with your choice of sides. The meat has such an amazing flavor and just the right mix of meat and bark. This stuff is to die for. Hands down… some of the best you will find in and around Indianapolis!

I had a taste for bbq so I looked at Unilocal to find a place nearby. This place wasn’t what I expected because from the pictures on Unilocal it gave the appearance of a sit down restaurant. However it’s a carry out place. So once I got over that I ordered my beef brisket, Mac and cheese and cole slaw. The cole slaw was just okay. I’ve definitely had better. The Mac and cheese was good and brisket was so tender you could cut it with a fork! It was flavored and smoked to perfection. I also got the caramel apple pie for dessert. It’s more like a cobbler than a slice of pie but it was good nonetheless. Overall I enjoyed my meal.

The most amazing brisket I’ve ever had. I almost didn’t stop because I’m on a road trip and there’s no dining area but the smell was too good to pass up. Stopping here was the best decision for RoadTrip food. The menu is on a screen and it scrolls through slowly. Talking to Hank will let you figure out what you need and how much to order. A pound of brisket and two slices of pie disappeared while sitting in the parking lot. Pecan pie and sweet potato pie are both delicious. Big slices of pie that may not fit after eating brisket. Mac and cheese was OK. I will be back for the brisket. Tasted the corner beef — was good with sauce but the brisket made my taste buds explode. We had forks but wet wipes were necessary.

I heard Hank has a little slice of Texas in Indianapolis, and sure am happy I stopped by! When I arrived, Hank wasn’t there, because he was in Texas getting mesquite wood. That right there folks tells you one thing: «The smoked meats here are going to be really, really good.» The place is, quite literally, a hole in the wall. However, it is one from which truly amazing things arrive. I went only for one reason: Texas Brisket. Once I watched it being cut I knew it’s the real deal! Indy is lucky to have a place like Hanks. You won’t find that kind of quality often folks, trust me. I’ve been to Austin, St. Louis, Kansas City, and South Carolina — and Hanks brisket and sauce stacks up against them all just fine. If I lived nearby, I’d be a regular. Stop by for a brisket sandwich to go — you’ll be happy you did!

My first trip to Hank’s was pleasant. I was greeted by the staff ion entering in. You can tell its a neighborhood place to go. That the locals come there very often. The cook(it may have been the owner but not sure) was chatting with the customers like family; so that was nice. About the food: it was good. I ended up getting a pound of brisket and a pound of the corned beef. It was very good. Not too dry and not too greasy. I thought it did need a bit of seasoning. I’ve personally never cooked either item so I don’t know what kind of seasoning or how much, but it taste just a touch bland. It wasn’t terrible just needed a little more… hmph…little more kick of flavor. I may be back to try some of their other items; it was a bit out of my way. But it’s ok. We’ll see…

This is a take-out only type of place but that’s perfectly fine with me. If it’s your first time, let them know and they’ll let you taste the brisket and the corned beef. Both are very good. I personally find that any order with the baked potato is really intense. That should definitely be split into two meals where you add your own real vegetable as your side. Didn’t stop my boyfriend from eating it all in one sitting though. As for the sides, I’ve only tried the mac n cheese and the potato latkes. Both were pretty good but not amazing. You can get the meats by the pound so one option is getting just the meat here and making your own sides at home.

Holy corned beef. No, really, you guys. You haven’t experienced Indy’s food scene until you’ve rolled into the parking lot of Hank’s on MLK and cozied up to the counter to place your order. Corned beef? Smoked turkey? Smoke Texas-style brisket? Where to begin… Good news is, Brenda at the counter will help you sample and decide. I can only speak for the smoked corned beef and brisket but I will confidently say that whatever you choose, you will be happy in the end. Note that Hank’s is carry-out only, so plan to stay in your sweats and take this feast on home. As for sides, don’t pass up on the hearty and richly flavored mac n’ cheese. It pairs perfectly with the meats. I’m also a fan of their slaw which leans on the creamy side but doesn’t come with the mushy vegetables you’ll often find. And for dessert? Made-in-house answer: caramel apple pie… hallelujah, it’s sinfully delicious and made by Brenda herself. Plan to spend $ 12-$ 15 per person on eats. Stop saying«we should go there» and make it happen. You can send the«thank you for your review» cards to the following address: …

Do you love food? Yes? GOHEREASAP! We were driving through Indianapolis on our way to Lexington and just so happened to stumble upon this place while filling up gas. It may not like much when judging from the outside of the shop but who cares about that when you can find some of the best BBQ and hospitality from any establishment. The hospitality and BBQ started right when we walked in. Unsure with what to get the lady behind the counter(sorry, forgot her name) offered us some samples of the smoked brisket and corned beef. Words cannot describe the taste and texture of these two meats. They were absolutely mouthwateringly DELICIOUS!!! Even after we had decided to purchase pretty much everything on the menu her and Hank continued to offer us some more corned beef and some apple pie to taste. We had expected a quick lunch but left with half a pound of brisket, corned beef and half a slab of ribs… I do not regret any of it. I can’t wait to go back for more smoked brisket and amazing service. TIP: It is take-out only

As a diehard Texan, as soon as I heard«brisket in Indy,» I knew I had to try this place. Come to find out, Hank himself is from Henderson, Texas, and actually goes home twice a year to get Lone Star mesquite wood with which to fire his smoker! With a setup like that, it’s nigh impossible to fail, and let me tell you, Hank’s positively EXCELS. The sloppy brisket sandwich is a hot delicious mess of meat, sauce, and bun – fortunately, they give you a fork. As for sides, the mac is cheesier than some pizzas I’ve had, and the sugar cream pie is a surprisingly not-too-sweet finish to your meal. I’m already planning my return trip.
