I came here with my wife on a Friday night about 6 p.m. for dinner. I ordered their special for the day which was prime rib. My wife had the pork tenderloin. Before I get to the food, let me say a few things about the atmosphere. The table was sticky, and when I walked to the restroom my gym shoes sounded like the soles were covered with scotch tape– every step was very sticky. Not exactly an inviting atmosphere. On top of that, there was one waitress for approximately 15 tables with people. She was pleasant enough, but it is safe to say that they were understaffed. On prime rib, I like nice crust of seasoning, but this had none. They said they were experimenting with a new seasoning and I have to say the experiment was not a success. My wife’s pork tenderloin sandwich was the typical Indiana version of this item, flattened out and much hanging out over the bun and she said the flavor was not bad. Because of that, I’ll give it two stars but if this review were based just my experience there, I would give it one.

We eat here often as we live in the neighborhood. We bring out of town guests here regularly to get a taste of a genuine Hoosier tenderloin. Great service, good food reasonably priced in an awesome retro setting. We LOVE this place!

Very cute traditional American restaurant. I’m passing through Indiana and found this restaurant to be an nice lunch spot. Our server was really friendly. She gave us free popcorn at the beginning which was a surprise. I felt very taken care of. The décor is very warm and welcoming. The tall ceiling and the wood everywhere make you feel like you’re in a log cabin somewhere in the woods. If you want a real local experience, I highly suggest the Ice House. I’ll definitely be going back!

This place has been in a steady decline for years. My friends and I go for lunch every so often just to remind ourselves why we don’t go regularly. The sign out front says new owners so maybe something will change. we ordered and our food was out 4 mins later… that’s a problem when you order a burger. I checked it out and it had obviously been precooked and thrown in the microwave. The waitress never came over to check on us until the end, so drinks were empty and there was no ketchup on the table. Disappointed.

The Ice House is under NEW ownership(just a couple of weeks now)! They have done a good job of cleaning it up and making some good improvements. The food is still really good for a great price. Worth a try when your in the downtown Indy area.

The ice house is a very typical lunch time establishment for the baby boomer generation. The baby boomers that worked in the area throughout their career love it, but there are lots of better options around. If you find yourself here, you will at least get a good portion for your dollar. If you like Indiana tenderloins, order it up but ask for 2 buns. If you’re looking die something healthier, they make a decent chef salad. It’s nothing fancy, but it is a casual place for a quick lunch. Plus, you get free popcorn.

Great burgers! Been here twice and haven’t tried anything but the Mushroom Mozzarella Burger. Way good and the price is right. Very comfortable place to eat.

One of the better burgers in town. Nice char-grill taste, but still tender and juicy. Cool, dimly-lit roadhouse atmosphere.

I usually have business meetings at this place. The food is great and the atmosphere is like something out of a 1950’s bar, except there are color tvs all around. If you go at 12PM, you normally have a small wait for a table. On Friday, they have their fish and chips on special and the line is out the back door. When you sit down, there is free popcorn to munch on and if you want more, its free too. For around 10 bucks, you get a very good meal and very American Blue Plate. I have always wanted to go there for a Monday night game but my big screen lcd is always a better view so I guess I can wait.

So this place used to be an actual ice storage house or something similar. I mean if you go, be prepared to enter through the original super-thick door that weighs 200 pounds(or it seems like it). A little quirky, this place has the best pork tenderloin sandwiches that I’ve ever had. They are so big, they take up the entire plate. The bun looks like a seed sitting on top of this giant fried tenderloin. One neat thing is that they have a popcorn machine and serve popcorn at the tables.
