A solid 3 for me. The fiancé and I were going through Indianapolis and so I did a quick search for the staples of Indiana. Pork loin sandwiches popped up quite a bit and Big Daddy’s was one that was still open(9:30) when we went through. So we had the pork nachos and the pork loin sandwich for two. The nachos were leaps better than the pork loin. I do have to say too, being from the south I expected a little more from the sand which I guess. The bar was dead and the waitress felt the need to spend time with one of the only other customers in the bar instead of checking up on us. Honestly I should give it a 2 but it will remain a 3 just because of the nachos. They would be a 4 out of 5 alone.

Went by the reviews & menu looked interesting. But must say it wasn’t anything special. Tried the pot roast nachos. The serving was large but mostly chips, a little bit of chili & very little nacho cheese. But there was a lot of pot roast on it but the meat lack flavor like no spices where used. Poor selection of beer on tap. We ordered Guinness beer & bar maid had no idea how to pour it. She bought it to the table with two thirds of it being a foam head so when finally settled it was 2″ from the top.

Came in here for an early dinner to take advantage of their Groupon deal. It’s a good thing we got here early. They were planning on a busy night with 3 different birthday parties going on. The service staff was extremely nice and accommodating despite all the craziness going around that comes along with prepping for 3 large parties. I went with the Fritos chili burger which I thought was good. A lot of flavor which I liked but was a little dry and thick in my opinion. I would have liked more of a liquid type chili on the burger. Also it costs extra to order fries with your burger which I thought was weird. It originally comes with kettle chips. My wife ordered an individual pizza and salad combo and she really enjoyed it. To top it off, they had leinenkugels on tap which that in it of itself is almost enough for 5 stars… but not quite.

I am sitting here constantly trying to get the waitresses attention. We are a group of 3 and there are 2 people at a table and 4 people at the bar. It is cold and the waitresses are constantly talking with the people at the bar. I have had to get up and go to the bar to get someone’s attention. I really like this place but lately it is such a hassle to get the attention of the waitress. Too bad! They put a lot of work into this place and the people working it are letting it go down hill. So I had to go get my own beer and the bartender is eating jimmy johns at the bar. I guess we will have to find a new place to go like everyone else has. Oh and now there is no music…

I first discovered Big Daddy’s over a year ago when searching for a decent restaurant near where I lived at the time. I can’t remember what I ate that first visit with a friend, I just remember being pleasantly surprised. Fast forward to a Friday night in October of this year, we were in the area again and with a crowd of us, I searched Unilocal for something reasonably priced and nearby. Big Daddy’s came up, so I suggested we stop in. With the bar area and the family seating area busy, but not packed, it was a very different experience than my first visit. And with a DJ Bingo game just starting, I put my game face on and jumped into the fun while my husband began ordering. In all, we probably had seven different things on the menu and every single thing was yummy and BIG. We laughed at the size/portion of food every time our waitress brought something out. Most impressive was the tenderloin sandwich, which is literally as big as your face. Eating well, playing a fun game(one of us winning), we knew we’d be back. My husband started talking about craving a Big Daddy’s tenderloin this past Friday afternoon, so by Saturday we gave in to his craving and visited again. Another totally different experience. While the bar was full of people, we had the entire family dining area to ourselves. Live music by a talented artist named Gene Deer could be heard, if barely seen, from our table. We loved listening to the music while we ate and we’re convinced that good music was the reason our toddler grandson behaved so much better at this restaurant than the previous two we’d dined at over the weekend. As expected, my husband ordered the tenderloin and was again impressed. My stepdaughter ordered a grilled cheese and being a bit of a grilled cheese snob, we have to believe her claim that it was«reeeeally goooood». She loved the French fries just as much. I ordered a Black & Bleu Burger that was so filling I only needed to eat half of it to be full, but so good I ate almost the whole thing, anyway. I also ordered the Baked Potato Salad which was one of the best and more unique potato salads I’ve had the pleasure of eating. I’m curious to see who, in our house, gets a Big Daddy craving first next time. As I mentioned, sandwiches are huge and portions are plentiful. A kid’s meal wasn’t even necessary to feed our grandson when he had so many plates from which to sample. This restaurant is in a dark and questionable neighborhood, doesn’t look like much from the outside and could definitely use some updating on the inside(family dining area is way too dark), but that won’t stop us from eating there when the craving hits. I must also sing the praises of our server. Carrie was as sweet and friendly as she was attentive. We could have been easily forgotten being the only table in use on the other side of a wall separating us from an area that had to be more needy, and yet, we never felt neglected. She took great care of us, even stopping to chat with my grandson each time she refreshed our drinks or just made sure we didn’t need anything. If she doesn’t love her job, you would never know it. She helped us to have another great experience at Big Daddy’s, which means we’ll definitely be back again sometime soon.

Shady bartender tries to say in 45 min my wife drinks 64 oz of vodka soda. Meanwhile my tab has only 3 shots of fireball which I had not even finished. This place has always been awful.

For a semi dive bar, one would think I would give less stars. The truth they have it updated, an expansive menu, scheduled live local entertainment, and a good staff. It’s a little off the normal path just south of downtown on South Meridian, in more of a residential neighborhood. It’s an affordable central location for my family on all sides of town to gather. They even have a family dining area for when the under 21 part of our family wants to joint. The food is tasty and I recommend stopping in.

I lived about 3 miles from this place for over 10 years. I moved away and ended up dropping in to meet people. i have to say it looks much better on the outside than it did a while back. The food was really good– and everyone had something different amongst about 9 of us. The only drawback was staffing. Our waitress had the entire dining room and no back up from the bartender. Brittany did everything to keep up with the entire room– but she could have used help somewhere. Bartender was not leaving behind the bar to help even with the tables in the bar. So our waitress had them and the family dining area. If they could get their staffing sorted out or a better bartender … I would seriously consider going back.

Finally made it to this place. They are closed on Sunday, somehow it was the only day I could visit, but anyway I went tonight to try the famous nachos! The server said the order was huge, she wasn’t lying. Two of us tore it up and there was still some left on the plate when we couldn’t eat another bite. I started a touch tunes account and played some of my favorite songs while watching Several different things on TV. Glad I went tonight. No dishes!

Usually a great place to eat, today seems to be a different story. So far we waited about 10 min to get some water. Twenty minutes after we arrived, I wrestled down the waitress asking if she could take our order and was met with major attitude. She actually snapped at me. This is lunch, people don’t have for ever. I’m a regular here, but I may have to change that now. The food is still great, but I am miffed.

Everyone raves about the pot roast nachos and I’m not really a fan. However, their buffalo chicken sandwich is a different story because it’s one of the best I’ve ever had. Come here expecting large portions of solid bar food.

I love stopping in big daddy’s on cold winter night for a heaping bowl of the prime rib stew. It is the perfect mixture of prime rib, rustic cut potatoes & carrots, and spices. Great way to warm up on a cold night. The tenderloins are huge and all white meat with a crunch-tastic breading that goes well with their thick cut fries or their ginormous onion rings.(Side note– I have them fry my onion rings longer than normal because the fatter rings tend to not be done sometimes) The atmosphere is normal bar atmosphere. The service can be a little slow at times but the waitresses are always nice. Great place.

Great local bar, food is awesome. Very nice inside. Sometimes gets a little clique if you aren’t a regular but wait staff is decent and reasonable alcohol prices. One of the best sports bars on the old Southside. Try the stew if you go there.

Big Daddy’s is one of those great examples of how a looks can be deceiving. It’s kind of a hole in the wall place, but they do a good business here. It’s close to work for me, so it’s a fairly common lunch spot for a lot of the guys I work with. I hadn’t been before, but I can see why they go. The price are appropriate for the food — mostly burgers, wings, sandwiches, etc. — and the food tastes good. It’s a no frills place, but the place is clean and the services is good. With good food, good prices, and good service it’s no wonder this place is packed for lunch. I think next time some of the guys head here for lunch I’ll be tagging along.

Hole in the wall lunch! My work team goes to lunch together once a month. We’re committed to avoid the chains and stick with random mom and pop establishments. We’re so passionate we’ve created a long list of places that lead to a monthly vote. Big Daddy’s won this month and so the trip for lunch took place. Off of Meridian Big Daddy’s Bar & Grill is a place that reminds me of my college days. It’s a good place to huddle up to the bar with your bros and watch a game and drink a beer. It’s a large bar area with a smaller dining room. So if you have kids it may be difficult to get a table– keep it in mind. We arrived just after noon and the place was PACKED! Good sign that I was in for a great lunch. The menu is huge with a variety of sandwiches, pizzas, salads, apps, pasta. You name it and it’s probably on the menu. I was tempted by so many things, but went for the chicken nachos. I know it’s a boring choice, but had a craving for them. I guess it was the homemade chili that got me. And– they were really good. Service was great. I was concerned at first because of the crowd, but no misses here. She even offered us separate checks. Very much appreciated especially knowing that it’s more work for the server. Would I go back? Yes. Would I go back with my family? Probably not because it’s not a place for kids and the dining room is really small. Regardless it’s a great place with a hometown feel, comfy food, and a spacious bar to kick back and let the stress go.

Because I can’t give 3.5 stars, I’ll round up to 4. I bought a Groupon for Big Daddy’s, so we headed over there for a Saturday lunch. Weirdly, there were only about 5 other people in the restaurant at 12:30. Plus, there was no music playing — so the loud tipsy guy at the bar(yes, at lunchtime) and — special treat! — the guy at the next table discussing his Crohn’s symptoms over the phone with his mom(yes, at lunchtime) — were quite audible. There was only one server/bartender but he ably took care of everyone. I ordered a Reuben, which was meh, but the coleslaw was good. My husband really liked his burger(the Big Daddy) and his fries were excellent! Eventually someone commented on how«awkwardly quiet» the restaurant was so the bartender put on music — and it was the weirdest choice ever. I was so peeved my Shazaam app wasn’t working because it sounded like it could have been the Baja Men or something like that! Apparently they are super busy during the workweek during lunch. Lots of TVs around the place. They have a smaller«family» dining room — I want to say it is 18+ after 10 p.m. For the Big Daddy burger, Reuben, two upsize sides(the standard is kettle chips) and an iced tea and diet coke, it was about $ 28. Not bad, especially considering how much food we got.

Oh, Big Daddy’s, I just cain’t get enuff of you! I really like yer dang menu. You know how I love them fried chicken livers and yers are mmmm mmmm good! And, Polish Mistakes, my gawd you never see them on a menu anywheres. My momma used to make them all the time when I was a sweet little girl. Yer burgers and hot wangs and pizza pies are really good, too. And, what makes me happier than a pig in shi… uh, mud, is yer POTROASTNACHOS. Words cain’t explain. But, I know Taco Hell cain’t hold a candle to those. And, Big Daddy’s, I don’t like to spend a lot of my hard-earned cash on beer & liquor so yer daily drink specials really help out the ol’ pocketbook. One dang dollar for long neck beer on Mondays and draft beer on Tuesdays? Criminy, yer just about giving it away. Also, I like when folks play that fancy jukebox of yers — Touchtunes — but, boy do they play it loud! I gotta get my drunk ears on before I really enjoy it. Yer place is always so clean & tidy which sure is a nice change from my trailer. And yer employees have always been super-duper friendly and I ‘preciate that. You don’t get nice chit-chat and helpful service from them snooty folk at those schmancy places out there. I’m gonna keep comin’ back and visiting with you, Big Daddy’s. You’ve been treating me real good. And, I gotta try that breaded tenderloin. It’s bigger than my Uncle Lou Gene’s head. No lie. I love you, Big Daddy’s.
