If Carsberg did bookshops this is perhaps what it would look like! If you’re someone who enjoys spending time in /browsing book-shops then you’ll love Barnes & Noble. If you’re a Bod Dylan fan, like Kerouac or have any interest in the Beat generation then you will likely spend a lot of time here.

I’ve been here a few times and I absolutely love it. It’s well organized. If you’re a parent I highly recommend taking your children here. There’s a make believe stage and seating area in the kids corner. They also have the newest books displayed up front. The décor is awesome. Of course Starbucks is located inside and well away from the kids corner … It’s on the opposite side of the store. Well played.

so I had eaten chili that morning and went jogging. Had some time to kill before a movie so we wondered around B&N for awhile. We sat in the coffee shop area and enjoyed some pumpkin lattes. I’m sure others have this problem but after a few sips of coffee, I gotta go. The bathroom was very clean with amble paper towels. The only problem was, there was something grunting and moaning in the non handicapped stall. I know bears don’t were nikes so I assume it was a man. I left the bathroom to wait him out. I walked with the wife a bit, read through a metal magazine and returned. There were those neon orange nikes again! I left one more time and read through«A farewell to arms.» I figured by now he was done so I returned. NOPE he was still there. I went to the other stall and quietly did my business, clearing my throat to mask any terrible noises that I might have made. I’m not sure why I bothered because Mr. Nikes never let up on the grunts and couldn’t hear me anyway. He finished while I waiting for him to clear the now rancid bathroom. Another fellow came in and remarked out loud that it smelled like something had died. I’m sure he assumed it was my chili coffee combination but for once i was not the culprit and framed for a crime I did not commit! I left the stall with my dignity intact but question why someone would choose B&N to release something so horrible. While washing my hands I looked into the mirror.

Personally I don’t like purchasing new books. I prefer browsing thrift stores and garage sales for books with history, full of memories and rips and creases in the pages, and saving a load of money in the process. But I still can’t stay away from Barnes and Noble. My husband would gladly live in this store if he could, and a great number of my visits are spent casually browsing the selection around him for the hour or so it takes him to decide which book he wants. I have discovered so many interesting books from those trips that I couldn’t leave without. My bookshelves are full of fun little mystery paperbacks, puzzle books, and how-to books I picked up here. There’s a Starbucks inside, and although I don’t usually drink coffee either, it makes it easier to wait when I have a hot drink keeping me company. The staff is friendly and really helpful, so I honestly don’t have a lot to complain about when I come here.

Wonderfully roomy book store with a starbucks franchize located inside so you can walk around with a coffee and browse. They have a great section of sale books — all kinds of books marked down. They also have a great seating area so you can chill and check out the newspapers and magazines. Not much not to like… can lose the time very easy in this store.

I thought I’d already reviewed this location. 5 stars: 1: It is the only big bookstore around this area, until you drive over and around the Plaza and Westport or Lee’s Summit. It holds it’s market 2.: I own a Kindle but I friggin love books, and Barnes and Noble fils my passion. I mostly love local bookstores, and when and if City Lights in San Fran ever moves to Independence, I will shop there. Until then, I will fulfill my hunger of books where I can, considering Barnes and Noble this one being the closest. 3. I follow the«Beat era» writers around like a fascinated author groupie, even though they are usually dead and Barnes and Noble carries their books. I find this store has what I am looking for, rather than ordering it of Amazon, I check here first. It had 4 different editions of On The Road, that which I visited Barnes and Noble for today, even though I’ve read the book six other times. They have an array of fiction and nonfiction books, classics, and oddities. Most of my cookbooks come from here. 4.I’ve bought every Nursing drug book I own from this store. 5. They serve hot chocolate that kicks my milk allergy to hell and back which is nothing to brag about, but it’s that bad, or good. I can also grab a book, and skim through it, or a magazine, while I sip hot chocolate. On Fridays, and Saturdays, I’ve seen guest authors speak. 6. They have an astounding amount of magazines, and newspapers from around the United States. I can spend alot of money, and have, just on their magazines. 7. Their music CD’s are often better stocked than the Best Buy near there. And that is why I love Barnes and Noble.
