Must stop anytime in San Diego. Worth the drive south for their tasty breakfast. Good vibe, feel at home here. :)

The kitchen closes 2 hours earlier than Unilocal has them open until. Hours are so random everyday.

Found myself hungry in Imperial Beach and stopped at this café. Really, outstanding. I had a tuna melt absolutely perfectly done. Best sandwich I’ve had in a long time.

Today was my first time to Katy’s, but it won’t be my last. The biscuits & gravy were the best I’ve found in California, and the people working here are friendly and welcoming. I felt like I entered Katy’s house and made some new friends. I will recommend Katy’s to everyone.

Yummy! The portions are huge and the patio out back is newly decorated. I had the sausage and egg on the croissant. It has two patties! Yum. Biscuits and gravy is so good as well! Love it!

Not only is Katys conveniently located next to me, they also make one of the best acai bowls in SD! The Acai and yogurt combo topped with fresh fruit is probably one of the BEST things in the world. The girls here are very attentive and polite as well. Katys is definitely going to be one of the many things I miss about IB!

Hands down the BEST Tuna sandwich I have ever had I was in Imperial Beach for work and had to grab a quick bite to eat. Quick search and I decided Katy’s was where my stomach was leading me. I’m so glad I found this hidden gem, I only wish j lived in the neighborhood so I could come here weekly. Katy is the sweetest person, she greets you when you come in and takes your order while she’s running around multi tasking. All good things. The décor is spunky and eclectic. I had their Tuna sandwich that came on lightly toasted wheat bread accompanied with avocados and sprouts. All the ingredients work in harmony with the fresh tuna salad with all the right ratios of mayo to tuna and whatever secret Katy puts in it. Washed down with a strong brew of iced coffee, every bite was a delicious harmony of flavors. I was so sad that my sandwich disappeared so quickly. I’m willing to drive all the way down here again. I need to try their other sandwiches but on this occasion my tuna blew me away.

Comfortable ambiance and the service is great, very friendly staff and owner. Food is tasty if you’re looking for an easy quick meal, nothing too interesting but that’s great when looking for food that appeals to everyone:)

I’ve been here a couple of times and have always had great service. They were even nice enough to make me a grilled cheese sandwich during my last visit, even though it’s not on their menu. I went to Katy’s yesterday(Sunday) and got there just before 3pm because the website said they closed at 4pm. I was really looking forward to getting something to eat and drink, so I can relax in the lounge with my laptop. When I got there, the employee that greeted me asked what she could get me today. As I was looking at the menu, I told her I was looking to get something to eat and maybe a smoothie. She said that their kitchen closed at 2pm, but they were still serving tea, smoothies and other drinks. I was really disappointed because I was starving, but at least I could hang out and do some writing, while drinking my smoothie. When I ordered my strawberry smoothie, I asked the cashier what time they closed. She said they were closing in a couple of minutes. I was like, «okay.» So I left with my smoothie, leaving Katey’s, disappointed that I couldn’t drink it there. To add fuel to the fire, the smoothie was absolutely disgusting. Ugh, it was the worst drink ever! I only finished half of it and the only reason I drank that much is because I paid for it! $ 4.75 for a tasteless drink. What a waste of time and money. Online, it says they close at 4pm. I didn’t see anywhere on their website that says they close their kitchen early, either. I was soooooooooo disappointed. I’m not writing off Katey’s Café because I like the location, they’re friendly and I’ve had meals there that are good. I just won’t go out of my way to go there, anymore.

Espresso blend was over-roasted and almost seems like it was poorly-selected(no real flavor). Food was solid; nothing special but comfortable. Ambiance was nice. Plastic water cups were stuck together as though left out for multiple months(evil yellow residue on rims), and my styrofoam cup had what looked like a lipstick mark on it(no, really). Service was good, though!

Not crazy about this place as most people are. It’s the classic surfer/beach town café. Katy is aggressively smiley(which doesn’t equal warm & friendly imo, but then I’m not from california) with undertone of hostile. Super straight and white. Way overpriced. Only one electrical outlet. Styrofoam cups and no mugs for staying in which is just depressing in 2015.(Seriously guys, paper is cheap and at least recyclable.) A little grimy and threadbare as per the beachside norm. Walk in and it’s like being transported back to the late 80s nary a hair, or menu item, out of place – though I agree, the smoothies are nice.

Excellent. No frills, just good food, good vibes. Comfortable living room like atmosphere. Step out back and it’s a courtyard like area to eat on wooden worn benches and patio tables just steps from the sand so you’ll get the ocean breeze and the sounds of the sea. Just as you expect to see at a cool beach nonassuming, not snooty. place. Food was excellent, as it was not greasy. Healthy menu for the energized surfer, or wannabe. Plenty of comfortable cushioned couches inside to be cozy while enjoying a great smoothy or sammy and read the latest surf magazine. i’m pretty sure if you don’t have shirt or shoes, they’ll still serve you. hang ten here for sure. We ate all up and down the street from high end(sea180 to low grill) and this is by far the best and we’ll come back here for breakfast, lunch, and if they’re open for supper then sure we’ll do it again.

The best acai bowl ever! I don’t even like them, but I wanted to order something as I was on my 3rd hr of free WiFi and only had a tea. There is so much fruit in this thing it’s crazy. The yogurt and acai are scooped separately and I love that. It also came with tons of granola. Super filling and yummy. It was surprisingly perfect for my lunch.

Really cool place! Coffee shop vibe with seating outdoors both in the back and front. Food is great! I was pleasantly surprised that the sandwiches made with bagels are not tough. The bagels are perfect for a sandwich. You order at the counter, but they bring you your food.

I love Katy! Her restaurant ain’t bad either! I’ve been coming here for a couple of years now since PierSouth opened and have truly enjoyed a casual breakfast on Katy’s patio. I know she doesn’t know me, but she sure treats me and all her other customers like she does. Lot’s of smiles, great coffee and awesome breakfast sandwiches make Katy’s a must try in IB. WHENYOUGO– Al’s Cali King and Zac’s sandwiches are the go-tos here. Al’s(croissant) and Zac’s(toasted bagel) both come with lots of sausage, eggs and cheese. Plenty so you can skip lunch and spend the day on the beach. If you’re in a hurry or want something sweet, they always have a variety of pastries and again, excellent coffee. Plus you get to have Katy talk to you! Winning!

I LOVED this little gem. I needed to get some work done and was tired of Starbucks. That is how I happened upon Katy’s — which is clearly a favorite of the locals. SO many menu choices and the service was super friendly. I sat outside, enjoying the wi-fi, and delicious food — and the people watching. If I lived in IB I would be a regular. For SURE!

This place is the spot to get some sandwiches by the beach. I’ve recently moved around the area for work and I’ve been coming to Kathy’s during lunch. Everyone is very welcoming and helpful when it comes to which sandwich or teas to get. I always get the North Side Surf Club, always the bomb. Also unbelievably cheap prices too.

Heyyyyyyyyyyy Katayyyyyyy :) I recently enjoyed a couple days worth of breakfasts here. It was PDG.(Pretty Damn Good) I recommend the triple sausage patty breakfast sandwich with their tropical ice tea. Good food, unbelievably cheap prices and a sitting atmosphere that is a cross between the, «Friends» coffee house set and a surf museum.

Hands down, best breakfast I’ve had in San Diego! That may be a bold statement, but let me explain: I was looking for some tasty/fresh breakfast and asked some fellow Unilocalers who recommended Kathy’s Café. Indira and I rolled in about 9am and it was relatively empty. There were a few people seated eating and a couple waiting for their orders. Indira ordered the Davo $ 5.99(a croissant with sausage, cheese, avacado, mustard, mayo), and a caramel macchiato. I ordered the Big Al $ 6.99(basically the Davo with more sausage and no mayo), a Mocha and the Acai bowl. The croissant sandwiches were phenomenal! Literally the best, most memorable croissant sandwiches I’ve ever had. The acai bowl was also wonderful. Multiple fruits, granola, Greek yogurt, acai goodness. If I was going on another deployment(thank God I’m not), this would definitely be my go to spot upon my return. 100% recommend!
