Thought I would try this place, for a good meal. Prices are high, for what you get. Nothing GOOD. The steaks tips were tough & chewy. The mashed potatoes were dry as a bone. No gravy, no butter, no flavor. The best thing was the bread, however, served with basically: plain thick oil, to dip it in? Whatever was in it for flavor? Sunk to the bottom. Will never return.

Sat at the bar and it was full. Only 1 bartender and she was busy. Didn’t eat but ½ price apps 3 – 6.

Sorry, Joe. I wanted to like you, I really did. There were some promising items on the menu. The bread and olive oil everyone raves about didn’t even impress. How hard could it be to warm the bread? It came out very cold, which wasn’t nearly as appetizing as it would have been warm. Just as well, I suppose, as I was able to save a few calories. I tried the seasonal special, Spaghetti Squash Bolognese. I very rarely send anything back when dining out, but this needed it. It came out cold from the kitchen, very cold, like not even room temp. I hate the idea that someone just forgot to zap it in the microwave… just sad. As sad is the thought that timing was so bad it was actually made to order and then just sat there so long. It wasn’t a particularly busy night, so not sure what happened there. The waitress was apologetic and did bring the dish back heated up. The flavors were a bit bland. It could definitely have used some better spicing, but I suppose I was already not into the dish since it had been dragged around a few times before I actually got to eat it. Prices seemed okay, average for that kind of a restaurant. Service was friendly.

I have 3 favorite Joe’s locations. Hyannis is one. I am a vegan, and Joe’s staff bends over backwards to accommodate. There are three meal choices for me which beats having to just get a salad when I go out. Those three choices are fantastic. The rest of my family also loves going to Joes. The atmosphere is fun and the service has been wonderful.

Good, solid restaurant choice. Varied menu with a lot of great choices. Tomato basil soup was the best with fresh basil. House salad was fresh with crisp lettuce and shredded mozzarella cheese. Complimentary bread with a garlic parmigiano olive oil dip. Quick service. Great atmosphere. Friendly manager. An overall great experience. Could use a few more vegetarian options and a few less salad choices.

Outstanding staff, food & general environment. Fresh bread &XVOO come quickly after sitting down to munch on. I’ve gone to this location a few times, each time trying something new. I haven’t been disappointed yet & neither has my company. Prices are very reasonable & the cooks are very creative. Great place for a date !

We ordered take out from here and I don’t know why anyone would CHOOSE to go here with all the other options on the Cape. The alfredo pasta was bland and overpowered with flour and lemon taste. I have never met an alfredo I didn’t like. until now. The focaccia was very hard on the crust… and standard focaccia otherwise. The steak tips and mashed potatoes were normal. Bland mashed. Chewy fatty cuts of steak tips. Breaded chicken entrée was SUPER greasy and barely edible. For the price, go somewhere else!

Great service, good food, reasonable prices. filthy bathrooms. Visited Not Your Average Joes again, this time with a party of seven. Great service, very attentive waiter(his name was Matthew) good food, good prices. again with the bathrooms. but I’m attributing it to messy patrons of the restaurant, who chose to throw paper towels on the bathroom floor instead of the trashcan.

Was just looking for a good place to watch a baseball game and stopped by this place. When I walked in I noticed that it looked much nicer than I was expecting — cool vibe for a resto-bar. I actually had quite a bit of time to notice the décor because no one said anything to me for the first 5 minutes I was there… The hostess even walked by me twice without even acknowledging me. I almost walked out but I was more concerned about the score of the game than my ego and eventually the bartender asked me if I needed a menu. He was cool and helped me out. Food was solid, bread with oil was clutch — exactly what I wanted. NYAJs has decent food but it’s hard to overcome the poor service so I’ll probably just check out a different place next time.

one of the only«chains» I will go to. Joes is consistently good and never fails to deliver a delicious meal & unique drinks. As I’m sure you have read in every other review for Joes, the bread and dipping oil is to die for. I would leave happy just after that. For cocktails, the seasonal sangria is always yummy. If they happen to have the strawberry rhubarb sangria, GETIT! It is truly a treat! The margaritas are also good made with all fresh juices instead of sour mix and they are huge! Perfect bang for the buck! For appetizers; we tried the Ahi tuna wontons which were extremely flavorful. Sesame crusted tuna sashimi on a crispy wonton smothered in wasabi aioli, ginger and a sweet eel sauce.(Pictured) yum! The mustard crusted chicken is amazing; and is what I usually get. Two chicken breasts with Panko mustard and a yummy dipping sauce. Served with creamy garlic mashed potatoes and flavorful green beans. You can see why I don’t sway from that entrée when I come here. The Caribbean buffalo chicken pizza is also extremely flavorful and I would recommend it. Enjoy joes!

Last Saturday, I brought some friends who were visiting from Florida to NYAJs, because it has always been my favorite restaurant. I raved about their veggie burger(with beets in it!) and their warm bread and delicious dipping sauce. My sister raved about their gluten free bread and gluten free menu. As soon as we started eating, I felt so silly for raving. The food was all so different, the bread was cold and not very good, my sister’s gluten free buns were nothing like they used to be, and my burger was a thin and beet-less mess! I am heart broken. What ever you did, NYAJ, undo it please. I feel like I’ve been broken up with. My favorite restaurant on earth is gone, replaced with a mediocre one. We’ll be back when you go back to whatever business model you were practicing previously… RIPNYAJ. PS. the sweet little blonde waitress with the accent was adorable and the only reason I do not regret spending money here.

Not too sure what happened tonight. This place used to be my go-to but after the mediocre food this evening it has me second guessing that decision. I shared an appetizer of spring rolls and asked for the veggie burger as an entrée. The spring rolls were decidedly not freshly prepared, were still deeply chilled in the middle and the rice paper was thick and barely flexible. Not sure if it was a function of being too deeply chilled, but the wrapper and ingredients(noodles, asparagus, carrots) were dry and didn’t mesh together at all. The saving grace was the peanut and cilantro sauce — that was exceptional and made the appetizer palatable. The veggie burger didn’t hold up well to the bun. Fell apart after the first bite and the patty didn’t have any texture or real flavor at all. The whole grain(while appreciated) bun overpowered the patty in terms of both flavor and volume. I don’t know what I was expecting but it was not this. Don’t get me wrong, this wasn’t a make or break event. Certainly willing to give them another shot, the service from Elina was great and truly appreciate the 15% military discount.

Went in with my son before the movies. Beat the food court. I got a Cobb salad which was good but may have been great if they had chopped the romain a bit smaller and tossed the greens with the dressing before building the salad. They used a high quality bacon and blue crumbles were big chunks. Blue cheese dressing was probably home made. My son got pasta with marinara sauce which he really liked. We have been there many times and will continue to do so.

NYAJ is an excellent casual dining option at the Hyannis mall. Let me Start by saying that every order at this restaurant is preceeded by a bowl of amazing bread and a side dip of olive oil, spices, and parmesan cheese. This stuff alone is worth the trip. It is to die for. The actual entrees here vary in quality but typically you cannot go wrong. I’ve gotten salads, soups, burgers, and steaks, all have been phenomenal. I’m currently waiting an ahi tuna salad and I will definitely post a pic when it cones. Overall, this is a great place to check out and not just a mall convenience trap.

«I’ve experienced better» is totally right … I had some time to kill at the Cape Cod Mall and I figured I would pop into Joe’s for lunch. I’ve never had a really bad meal at Joe’s but I’ve never had a great one. I always thought of them to be consistent. At any rate, the restaurant is located within the mall, but you feel like a rat chasing cheese through the maze of alleys and corners one must traverse to get to the restaurant. I saddled up to the bar and waited … and waited. I almost left. I finally got my drink and ordered the mustard crusted chicken(I keep saying I’ll try something new, but it has yet to happen). The entrée came about 15 minutes later and«pan-fried» was a mistake. It was like a giant hockey puck. Lots of breading and not a lot of mustard. Fortunately, the fresh green beans were a nice touch! However, what really made it a two-star review(and not to the fault of the restaurant per se) … were the other customers. Seriously, where do some of these people come from? One guy was arguing with the bartender as to why he couldn’t order a round of shots(at 11 a.m. on a Saturday morning). The guy next to me wouldn’t shut the hell up although I politely told him I would like to be left alone. When I put my credit card on the bar to pay my tab, he actually GRABBEDIT and examined it to find out what type of AMEX card it was. I couldn’t wait to get out of there. Inconsistent food. Weird patrons. No thanks.

The most inconsistent NYAJ ever. Every time I come in here and order the same dish I had the last time it ALWAYS looks different and has a different assortment of ingredients when the menu hasnt changed. The«chef» here really needs to be trained to NYAJ standards because I frequent the watertown location where the food is much better and is worth the price. Came in to Hyannis location last week and ordered the saffron cod over pan seared crab cake in «lobster corn chorizo» broth. Broth was so fatty that it left marks around the edges of the plate and left a residue in my mouth. Fish had ZERO seasoning and tasted like nothing, needed salt BADLY. Crab cake was absolutely disgusting, it was mushy and tasted fishy, couldnt even eat it. There was hardly and corn in the broth and certainly no lobster flavor. Chorizo is an excellent accompaniment with white fish… too bad there wasnt any here. There appeared to be cubed sausage or linguica in the sauce, the same they use in the jambalaya, it was not the beautiful red chorizo you would expect. The line cooks here and the chef do not know how to send out a good looking plate of food or how to simply sear a piece of fish without scraping it out of the pan and completely destroying the crust(the goal of a sear). This wouldnt be so bad if I wasnt paying $ 22 for this unpleasent dinner(see pictures) Hire a new kitchen staff. Wont even go on about the 25 minute ticket times.

Joe’s is surprisingly average for something who claims not to be. I will break this review into things that are above average, average, and below average, in honour of their name. Above Average: Their bread and olive oil is like crack. Maybe they put actual crack in it, that would explain the huge drug problem on Cape Cod. Their catering is also above average, everything I’ve had catered from them is fantastic. There are an above average number of menu choices as well. The fact that they have a gluten-free menu with more than steak and baked potatoes on it is above average. Average: Their prices are average. Their food is in general pretty average. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with it, but it’s not incredible. Their drink size/value is average. Some interesting cocktails, some gross ones, altogether average. Service is also average, I have never had an issue but I’ve never had anyone stand out to me. Below average: Wait time. There is very often a wait, but it’s a mediocre restaurant in the mall so that goes without saying. I just don’t get people who would wait a half hour to eat here, personally. Children’s meals are also below average. I think they’re overpriced and the quality is atrocious. I introduce the«wiggly chicken fingers» as exhibit A. Chicken fingers should never flop, wiggle, or fall over limp like a… well you know. In conclusion, don’t believe everything you read on the internet. Despite the name, it is quite average indeed. I do enjoy eating here if there is no wait and I’m not ordering chicken fingers.
