Big Crab easily has the best crawfish I’ve ever had. Peeling those tails was so smooth and so tasty. The flavor could not be more on point. If you live in the North Richland Hills area, this is the place to go! And if you go, find there server Bow. He’s a great dude. Best crawfish service I’ve ever had.

My new favorite seafood place, never going to Joe’s again! This place has great seafood for the price and the service was soooo fast and friendly. The owner came by and talked to us for about 10 minutes and he was very nice. They had a cover charge for BYOB which is odd, but we didn’t fuss about it. Will be coming back again!

Maybe that they figured that the similar name and similar décor(complete with ropes and graffiti-ed walls) would compel people to believe it was the same as Boiling Crab. Unfortunately, the food at The Big Crabs doesn’t quite live up to the same level of addictive tastiness as Boiling Crab. However, is it a good alternative? Most definitely so. You can order seafood by the pound, like shrimp, crab legs, and shellfish. Then you choose your sauce and the spice level — we got some shrimp and crab with the medium shabang sauce. It was more mild than other seafood places(especially the one this place seems to have taken inspiration from), but we just told ourselves that it meant less salt, therefore less sodium, therefore healthier… right?(Butter doesn’t count…) The seafood was fresh and our shrimp were huge! We added potatoes and corn to our bag and the corn came out just right. We ordered a side of fried okra, which was pretty good, but I’d pass on the fries — they were not really cajun fries, as stated on the menu; they were plain and were a pretty standard fry. It was BYOB(at least through February 2016) and service was friendly. It’s in a big plaza with a supermarket, so plentiful parking. There was also no wait on a Friday night. Overall, even though the food is just ok, The Big Crabs is a great option for those in this area, or those who don’t want to wait two hours for a seat at some other seafood places in DFW.

Couldn’t even try the food. Walked in with my family, every single waiter looked at us, never acknowledged us, and kept on about their business. We waited 10 minutes and no one even spoke to us. We left

I was excited to see this restaurant The Big Crabs… Unfortunately I was very disappointed. Menu was not impressive. We ordered the gumbo… Not the gumbo I was expecting. Very greasy and very watered down. We had to ask for crackers and hot sauce. We decided not to push our luck and just split catfish and shrimp basket. I was surprised not to see more items such as side salads, Cajun pastas etc Menu items are over priced I wish them good luck in getting this new restaurant better

I was hoping this would be as good as The Boiling Crab or Pots over by Dallas. It’s not. We had the #1 combo with medium shebang. The snow crab was over cooked or had been sitting too long. You know when the leg bends instead of breaks? & the meat won’t separate from the shell? That’s it. The sauce was spicy & full of garlic. No other flavor & weird ring of something floated to the edge of the sauce towards the end. The tiger shrimp were more like tiger cubs. The Cajun garlic wings were good but the ranch dressing is Hidden Valley in the bottle. No wet naps or bibs. BYOB. they add a 10% charge to the total ticket for that. We won’t go back.

Have been wanting to try this place and decided the other day to give it a try. Even though we found the crab legs a little pricey, I ordered the combo crab legs and shrimp and the 9 sha bang seasonings that they used were amazing and they were cooked to perfection. My wife got the crawfish and for this time of year they were nice sized and very fresh. I wanted to give it 5 stars but due to price I couldn’t. Highly recommended.

I wanted to like this place. Okay, I wanted to LOVE this place! It’s right down the street and it’s crawfish season… Huge disappointment. The crawfish were a good size, but flavor is so weird. We ordered spicy and it’s definitely not spicy. Definitely not Cajun spice– more Asian… But something different? Also super oily which is odd. The whole thing was very interesting to say the least. I feel like people who aren’t used to eating crawfish might not know the difference and like it.

I give this place a 3 star. First time I went the oysters were very tiny but still fresh. At the time pappadeaux offered their half priced oysters so to keep up with competition they should do that or at least be decently sized. Second time I got crawfish and it felt like it was drenched in spicy butter. It cured my crawfish cravings but definitely wouldn’t be my go to for crawfish. More than half of the 4lb I ordered were dead and extremely tiny. Will give it another try in a month before not coming again as my crawfish go to.

My boyfriend and I came in on a Friday night. It wasn’t busy, they had a handful of customers there. We were awkwardly greeted by the hostess. We stood around for a couple just looking at each other until she sat us.(We were the only ones who walked in keep in mind) Our server was AMAZING! I wish I got his name. He was so friendly, attentive and outgoing. The two stars are for him. Anyways we ordered a pound of Tiger shrimp, 3 pounds of crawfish and oysters. The oysters were tiny, so make sure before you order them ask if they’re a decent size. We ordered the nine sha bang seasoning. It was not what I was expecting. It was really watery and bland. Not sure why it was such a dark brown color either. The tiger shrimp we expected them to be bigger than the other shrimps but unfortunately they weren’t. Save the few bucks and don’t bother with the tiger shrimp.

We gave The Big Crabs a big try yesterday. We are always on the look out for good sea food and Cajun cuisine. A quiet restaurant that now occupies the suite of our past favorite German restaurant. In an attempt to not gorge ourselves silly on New Years Eve, we thought we would take it easy by keeping it simple. First we split a bowl of the Gumbo. It had a rich clear rogue instead of the dark rogue. The heat was still there but not too hot to eat. I gave it a few minutes to cool off since the temperature and spice heat combined slowed me down a bit. We followed with entrees of fried fish basket and a Calamari basket. We substituted the regular fries for sweet potato fries on the fish dish. Both dinners were fried to a light but crisp golden tan. No over cooked to leave you with a burnt critter not too light so you think you are eating bait. The service was fantastic. We were seated promptly and our meal arrived quickly. To our surprise we were in and out within an hour. Maybe next time we will linger. Interesting, the ordering and check payment is done at your table by your server. They have an iPad allowing you to tip, sign and pay while the server is holding an iPad.

I ate here right after opening. They mention craft beer online as well as on the menu. We get there and it’s completely byob until they get their liquor license. Right away, this is something they should tell patrons. Post it on the door. The crab was big, as promised but lacked any spice whatsoever. We spoke with the owner and left this feedback. I hope they’ve stepped it up. We ordered extra spicy and no joke, there was no spice. It was so disappointing. Their equipment seems state of the art but the employees didn’t know how to use it. Paying the tab was a huge production. The employees were completely awkward. They made us feel awkward. We were literally the only customers there from start to finish and it never got better. I will never go back to this establishment because it’s no longer close to me. I doubt I’d go back either way. It’s just not up to par with competitors.

This review is for all you Boiling Crab, Tasty Tails, and seafood lovers in Dallas-Fort Worth. There is a new sheriff in town. Their name is The Big Crabs and it is spectacular. They opened in November and has been going strong ever since. The menu includes King crab legs, Snow crab legs, crawfish, clams, shrimp, mussels, lobster, and oysters. They also have a variety of fried dishes like catfish, shrimp and chicken. We have been there numerous times and usually get the snow crab legs, crawfish, shrimp and clams. Now what makes this items even more amazing is their own homemade sauce call the 9 Shebang! This sauce is DELICIOUS! In my opinion blows past the Boiling Crab and edges out Tasty Tails. IT’S THATGOOD! The owner Tony is always there to make sure the ship stays on course. It IS apparent that he cares about his customers and wants to make sure to serve quality food. His staff is super friendly and wants to make sure your visit is an experience you want to remember. For those who have never had the pleasure to dine at a restaurant like this. Be prepared to get messy. The shell fish are served in a plastic bag smothered in the wonderful sauce. Don’t be shy and just dig in. It is an experience. Personally this is a dream come true for me. This is my most fave food hands down, and it is down the street from me. No more driving to Dallas to get delicious seafood. This is the biggest thing to hit Tarrant County. Dallas natives come to this restaurant. You will not be disappointed. They are BYOB for now and should be getting liquor license soon. The Big Crabs! Remember that name. One may be coming to your town!

If this place is «Cajun», I’m a 6’6″ Pygmy. This place has a good catfish po-boy and relatively ok service. They are friendly. Not super attentive but friendly. When they asked if I wanted a sauce for po-boy, I asked for remoulade sauce but they only had tartar and cocktail sauce. I ate it dry with the few shreds of lettuce, pickle, and tomato. The bad: «Gumbo» — overly spicy, and had was made with no discernible roux. It did have rice, LOTS of okra, sausage, headless whole tail-on shrimp, and some odd blob of crab meat. That went into a napkin as I tasted something odd. Ambience — This is in the same space as Everything German and has reused a lot of the décor. It is clean and basic. Menu is simple and limited but that is usually a good thing. My suggestion from this visit — If you are going to name it gumbo, make gumbo. Otherwise, spicy seafood broth stuff or something else. Name it Big Crab Soup

So glad there’s now a seafood restaurant close to home. This place was delicious and the service was beyond great. I had the combo #1 which is 1 lb. of snow crabs and ½ lb. of shrimp. I also got 1 lb. of crawfish with medium sha bang sauce and a dozen oysters. My boyfriend got the catfish basket which came with a good amount of food. Everything was great I def. will be back!

I walked into the restaurant about 40 minutes before closing time and was greeted promptly. I ask if it was too late to dine in and order a boil. They said no that was fine come in and have a seat. Since it was my first time dining there the waiter made some great suggestions for menu items. I decided to go with the combo #1 which is 1 lb of snow crab and a ½ lb of tiger shrimp. They have several spiced sauces that your boil can be tossed in before being served to you. The house special sauce(The Nine-Sha Bang) was suggested and I decided to give it a try. I also ordered a side of hush puppies and fried okra. My whole meal came out very promptly with the boil being in the bag hot. The snow crab and tiger shrimp were very clean and of good size and cooked perfectly. The house special sauce was very good. I believe it’s a butter base and has 9 ingredients it was excellent. The okra seem to be hand battered in a light tempura type batter. This is not what I’m normally used to but it was very good. I would definitely order it again! The hush puppies seem to be scratch made and were very good as well. Both the owner and manager came by on several occasions to ask how I was enjoying my meal and I had a nice conversation with them both. As the menu states«it’s time to get messy!» so don’t wear your best shirt and there’s a roll of paper towels on the table. So just go and enjoy a great seafood boil. Or they have poorboy sandwiches, seafood baskets, and buffalo wings to choose from on the menu. All in all it was a great meal and I will definitely be going back. I’m just glad I don’t have to drive all the way to South Arlington now to get a good seafood boil.

I always check the«Hot and New» business option on Unilocal and I gotta say this is a good find. First of all, The Big Crab have very cute interiors, reminds me of those seafood shacks in California and Florida, which is a good thing. Not only its very spacious, its also very well designed. Service was exceptional, even though our waiter was a little bit shy, he was very prompt and polite. He got our orders right away and everything was done on the portable tablet(for ordering and paying, i thought this was very cool of them, very high tech). The food came out extremely fast, I ordered Calamari(their house special) $ 10 and a combo of 1lbs Snow Crab + ½lbs Tiger Shrimp with sha bang sauce $ 24.99. The level of spiciness is just enough for you to feel the heat without making you lose your appetite. The calamari was super tender, it almost feel like biting into butter! Overall I would comeback to this place, I give this place 4 stars because I feel like the seasoning can still improve, I would recommend this place to my friends.
