Came here for birthday dinner. Our first time. The cachon n grits and bayou chicken were stunningly good. Service almost too fast. App was crab n fried green tomatoes. Very yummy but the tomatoes were, perhaps, sliced a tad too thick. Dessert is pending. We WILL be back

Becca was our server and was outstanding! Her personality made a huge impact on our night out. As a server, having great service is a huge pet peeve of mine. This location is by far my favorite. The flavor and spice of the Cajun is so perfect, I could never replicate it! Keep up the awesome job because we will be back!

The drinks are strong and the food is a ticket to NOLA via Huntsville. During my recent visit to Huntsville, I couldn’t get enough of this place. I grabbed the crawfish étouffée. Could use a bit more rice, but good nonetheless. Fried cheesecake for dessert, period. Fast service to top things off. I’ll be back :)

Wow! Delicious. Atmosphere is a bit loud but very welcoming and fun. Lots of TVs for your sporting pleasures. I was in a party of 6, everyone ordered something different. All the plates looked great, general consensus was the food was great but a little on the spicy(Cajun) side. Service was great, kitchen was on the slow side, but so worth the wait!

Visited Cajun Steamers with a group of ladies after a play at the Von Braun Center on a Sunday evening. I had the Shrimp Diablo at it was excellent. I’m giving an average rating based solely on the service. Not sure if the waitress was new, just having a bad day or what but the service was not great at all. She seemed very impatient for us to order. She cut straight to the chase on the main entrée without inquiring if anyone wanted appetizers. After dinner, she brought the checks over without ever asking about dessert. One of the ladies actually said to her, «You never asked if we wanted appetizers or dessert.» Instead of apologizing she replied, «Well did you?» Really awkward moment. Again everyone enjoyed their entrée. However, I wouldn’t rush to return based on service.

The food was well prepared but significantly more expensive than similar restaurants I have been to in both D.C. and NYC where you pay a premium for the location. I got one of the Tahlullah platters which was extremely spicy! I like spicy so for me to gulp water during a meal is saying something. The menu says hot crawfish but honestly I thought it referred to the temperature. This could be a little clearer. Most other places I’ve been to offer a variety of spice levels and flavors for their broiled seafood. The interior has some what of a dive bar feel to it which doesn’t mesh well with the cost of the food. For the price I would expect more of an elegant atmosphere. That said the beer selection was pretty good and while I probably won’t come back for the food, I’d meet friends here for happy hour.

First time here with craving for Cajun and the did hit the mark. Food was a bit on the bland for spicy but it would cater to larger audience that way. Overall it was really good and the prices were reasonable. I also I loved that their oysters on the half she’ll came with real horseradish so miss that at many places. Everything came out hot and I loved my ettouffee. Would recommend coming here.

Love that we can get fresh local. Last time I went I got the peel and eat shrimp with the red beans and rice. Fresh shrimp and the red beans and rice was just the right amount of flavor with not too much spice. My cohort also ordered some hush puppies and they come with an amazing white sauce! Two complaints: always a wait, and when you finally get seated it feels like the wait staff and servers are so busy on getting people in and out that they do t do their just time to accommodate you. Also a little pricey. Last time visit meal and tax put me at $ 25 flying single and I ordered something that was in what seemed their midrange price point. Overall good food!

Had a great experience here for Thursday night dinner! The waitstaff was great, service was prompt, and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend the Melvin’s chicken plate. I couldn’t get enough of it! Will be back ordering it again soon.

Service was great here, the Melvins chicken plate was good but a little more on the salty side. Also ordered fish tacos and a popcorn shrimp kids meal. The portions are good. The environment is very clean. I would come back for more

Decided I needed something sweet after dinner at my hotel. This was right next door and not too crowded. Decided on the beignets. Order came with about 5 golf ball sized beignets covered liberally with powdered sugar and with caramel sauce. Overall taste was good. I would have preferred 2 biscuit sized beignets versus more smaller ones, for the same serving size. Based on my experience would have improved the consistency and texture. I will most likely go with the bread pudding in the future.

It is Sunday afternoon and I just ate at Cajun Steamers for the first time. My first impression is I love the location, great patio bar, good service, and some really average overpriced food. I had the oyster po boy and curly fries; I strongly discourage this order. The oysters were tasty, but there were so few that only 2⁄3 of the sandwich had oysters. I asked if they usually only put 5 oyster on a po boy and they said it depended on their weight … these were not big oysters. The lettuce was wilted because they dressed the bottom of the sandwich and put the hot oysters on top. The fries were cold. The iced tea was cloudy and looked like it was made earlier in the week. My one star is based on spending over $ 20 on bad food.

Aside from any jokes about how this place could never work in Cleveland… I gotta say I like the joint. I really do. In fact, I’ll be back. But I cannot for the life and integrity of my ill-conceived sarcasm give this place more than 3 stars. Not yet. The Cajun Steamer(+1 to the miscreant who snickered reading this aloud) is a block away from Asian Rim in the new«it’s mixed use real estate close to the hospital» thing in the medical district right across from Publix and H&R block. Perfect location imo. And yes, on a Sunday early evening it is… noisy. And I think it’s perfect. Why? Ever been to a NOLA dive for anything? I think the raucous, busy atmosphere is one of the better things about the place. Maybe CAJUN Steamer is more Slidell than NOLA or maybe more Baton Rouge than Jefferson Davis but it has the right attitude… and big screen with all the SEC games(softball currently, Geaux Tigers and Roll Tide) on full display in about 8 spots. The waitstaff is friendly albeit hurried but hey, they’re putting effort into it. Now if noise and TVs were all to this place it’d be H.H. Greg. So what you really wanna know about is the food, right? Well here it is: hit or miss. There I said it. What’s good: fried pickles… the accompanying sauce looks like Ranch(gross) but actually has horseradish in it(thumbs up). And the«everything» gumbo actually tastes like – you guessed it – actually gumbo! Or at a minimum it kicks all its competitors in the few teeth that they have. The hush puppies are OK as well. What’s mediocre? The crawfish etoufeé. It’s simply the wrong color… and if you know a thing about etoufeé you’ll know exactly what that means. What’s bad? The Grouper sticks. What should be luscious fish sticks for grown-ups are actually… overcooked and under-seasoned. And lastly… the beignets. What a finicky item to prepare… much less for the multitudes. But everybody knows if you’re brave enough to call yourself cajun /creole, you gotta have the powdered doughnut thingies that are wonderful at Café du Monde in NOLA. Actually you don’t… but… most places dare and fail anyway. Cajun Steamer falls right in with everybody else here. Quite simply… they’re too tough to be beignets. Re-do the batter and don’t… well talk to Raymond. Now my main tonight was actually a flounder roulade that was neither good nor mediocre or bad. It was an intriguing combination of them all. First, the first was actually well prepared… but there was a whole lot of it(who in the South complains about big portions??? Me.) But the bad was the stuffing… for one roulade. Bland and rushed, it seemed. But for the other? Pretty damn good! So how do you have one roulade that’s good and the other that’s bad? Takes talent… and likely a new kitchen working out the kinks. All in all, I think Cajun Steamer is a welcome addition to Huntsville. After all, it isn’t another so-so steakhouse or, heaven forbid, gringo Mexican joint. It’s a gringo cajun joint(j/k). I see potential and I look forward to a pint when football season cranks back up and the weather cools down here… like November. 3.5 stats but no more. At least, not yet.

I was quite underwhelmed by everything except my waitress during the visit. The drink prices, even during happy hour, are quite steep for watered down mixed drinks and cheap wine. I won’t say the food was flavorless because you could definitely tell that it was frozen… so that’s a flavor… but it lacked any sort of spice or freshness. At least Poboy Factory has the overly salty flavor(also not desired). There were several minor service issues(again, except our waitress who was exceptional) that just led to annoyance and making me want to leave as soon as possible. So although nothing was ‘bad’, I doubt I return to pay for the mediocre food and service and ‘try too hard’ décor.

It was good. We will be back again. The appetizers are small, but it’s perfect for two people before a big meal. We shared the fried crawfish tails which were on the smaller side, but they had a good overall taste. For dinner, I had the Mahi Mahi with crawfish étouffée on top and a side of cheese grits. My husband had the redfish with the Tasso cream sauce and cheese grits and we shared a side of hushpuppies. I have had better étouffée, but it was decent. I enjoy mine more thick with roux than runny and this was runny. This is not nearly in the same category as Po Boy Factory. The menus are drastically different. I love Po Boy but I did really enjoy this place. Overall me and my husband had a great time on the patio, we will definitely come back.
