In the Parkway Place Mall food court, there is Sbarro, Chick-fil-A, an out-of-business Malibu Cantina, a Japanese fast food place, a Chinese place, and Cajun Grilll. I’m always drawn to the Asian food and tried the Chinese place. Very mediocre and pricey. Being new to the South, I then found myself drawn to «Cajun Grill» to see what they have to offer. Looking at the available food… it was 2⁄3 Chinese and 1⁄3 Cajun side dishes. I literally ordered General Tso’s Chicken with fried okra and baked beans. As bizarre as that sounded, I was game… after all, what’s to like? HA! Being a Food Network devotee, I found myself asking what they are focusing on. I wanted to scream out«PICKONE!» Are you Chinese food or are you Cajun? Seriously, Chinese food with cole slaw and baked beans??? I can hear Gordon Ramsey screaming, «pick one, for God’s sake!» So be it… I did get the Chinese chicken, fried okra and baked beans. Chicken was surprisingly delicious — much better than the Chinese place in the food court. The«Cajun» sides were tasteless, but I added soy sauce and salt to get a little taste out o f them. The staff who worked there was Asian. I really, truly, want to encourage them to pick one… Chinese… or Cajun, because the two do NOT go together. I would give this unusual mixture 3-stars, but alas, I got sick after eating that lunch, spending the next few hours in the bathroom. I really do want to like them, but… pick one, please.
