SAD! Came here to eat lunch and find out Nick and Cindy are gone. Business is closed and gone. I hope they pop up somewhere else. I will miss this food place. New restaurant opening, we’ll see.

I found a hidden gem in HB! I decided to try this place out for lunch because i was in the mood for some chilaquiles. The place is small but cozy. The owner had me sit down and brought over my water and some chips & salsa. I have to say that the salsa was excellent! There were pieces of roasted green chili in the salsa, which added so much more flavor to everything. The chilaquiles with green sauce was perfect. The perfect balance of flavor. The beans and rice that came with the meal were seasoned really well, not overly salted. The food honestly reminded me of home cooked food i grew up with. If you are in the area, give this place a try!

Seriously the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. I don’t know how he does it. the guy who served us was so friendly and warming, instead of being overly polite. Their breakfast plate was absolutely delicious

I just ate the most legit breakfast burrito I have ever had. It was just straight up eggs, chorizo, salsa, and fried potatoes. It was the best breakfast burrito I have had in a long time! Reminded me of something my grandmother would have made, but better.(Ps. Don’t tell her that) everything was cooked perfectly. Usually I go for cheese and sour cream in my burritos, but this one did not need it, the flavors were already there. I ordered the 1 lb burrito, and now I am stuffed. Washed it down with a Mexican Coke and now I’m ready to face the day. If you are hungry and want only the tastiest of burritos, check this place out. The guy working the place was also very nice and friendly too.

Hands down some of the greatest Mexican food I have ever eaten. I’ve had the huevos rancheros and the chilaquiles, both with green sauce Their chile verde does not mess around! Definitely ask for a green corn tamale with extra butter for dipping if you still have room! A tasty bite for after your meal(or could be your entire meal if you want — the tamale is pretty dense!). Just sweet enough — not too sugary-tasting. Perfect!

My second time here, and should have known better not to come back, the burritos are packed with rice and beans and only a few chunks of meat, 1 star for the salsa 2nd star for me to be able to write this review.

Just went at 230pm, they were rude to my husband. If you close at 3pm you should be able to order 30 minutes before closing. Bad customer service. Won’t be back.

Enjoyed our order very much! When I asked, the owner suggested the Chile Colorado or Chile Verde as a plate or a burrito. We eat at a lot of mexican restaurants so when the burrito was served we were impressed with the presentation as you can see in the photo. Flavor was«muy deliciousa». Also the chile relleno and crispy shredded beef taco plate was exceptional. I want to say, thanks Nick & Cynthia for the nice meal! It is worth finding this little gem.

This place is great! You got to try the breakfast burritos, the ½ pound one is plenty for the morning for me and it’s delicious with the salsa! Also I love the taquitos beans and rice combo, the taquitos are stuffed with meat and are freshly made! And to top it off Nick and his daughter are just the nicest folks you’ll ever meet. Support our locally owned businesses and we all benefit!

Very happy with our service we received as well as the delicious food! I love the vibe this little taco shop has. The owner was very helpful and very happy. You can tell he loves what he does. The red salsa was the BOMB! I liked the green as well but the red was spicy but also a little sweet. I’m a salsa snob so I’m very pleased. Found this place on The Local Flavor app from my iPhone. My tacos were so good! Sometimes the shells are too hard but these were fried but yet they melted in my mouth. Just some good stuff! We will definitely be back. No beer sold here… Only downer. But there’s a little liquor store next door ;)

Originally I was craving Seafood Zone’s fish tacos after a morning surf session but they weren’t open yet. I read the breakfast burrito reviews on Unilocal for el chile frito and decided to give them a shot. First the positive. Customer service was excellent! I felt the warmth and I felt welcomed. The salsa was tasty with a little kick. You gotta have flavor and spice, thats a must for me. The portions were big, but than again I paid for the bigger burrito. Now the Negative. I ordered the chorizo breakfast burrito & large Jamaica My burrito tasted like an egg and potato burrito. Definitely not enough chorizo! I use a 2 to 1(maybe even 3 to 1) ratio when making it at home. This was not authentic enough, as white as I’m, my mom is mexican I did grow up in a mexican kitchen. The Jamaica was watered down and tasted like it was made yesterday, it had that open container in the fridge taste. Overall I wont dine there again. I should’ve known better, really.

I thought this place was horrible! The place looks dirty and the water tasted worse then water out of a hose. I dined-in, I got 7 chips with the salsa the owner put on the table. He was very quick and not personable… no one else was in the restaurant the entire hour I was there.

Love their tacos! Especially the Potato one! My mom, sister and I enjoy grabbing lunch here! I would totally recommend El Chile Frito!

Not sure why this place is even open. There’s not much of a restaurant or to-go joint. High Prices should be for good food and great customer service. Not what you think your food is worth. Reminds me of a Chinese restaurant I went to a few years back that believed their food was authentic but didn’t know the meaning of authentic. Food here doesn’t taste Mexican to me let alone authentic. I could make better burritos and way better salsa. As for customer service, I’d start by being inviting and friendly. It’s all about the customer when they visit your restaurant. My opinion: Prices should match the quality of food prepared, not one’s opinion of what one should charge. Taco Bell makes better burritos and for less than ½ of what one pays here. Not me again coming back…

This family owned restaurant is the place to go if you’re craving some authentic mexican food. The owner of this establishment is super friendly and outgoing. Every time I come in with a group of friends, he makes me feel as if I’m at home with my grandpa whose cooking us breakfast! I love this place and would definitely recommend it to all my friends.

Walked in and the owner is on the phone, saw us walk in but doesn’t acknowledge us. He continues on his phone call and hands is a menu without saying a word to us. A girl from the back finally comes out and is somewhat nice. She says hi and when we start to order our breakfast burritos she shows the size and says«their small do you still want to order them» Already discouraged about this place but I’m hungry so I get them. She asks what kind we want then says they all have to be the same kind. Even more discouraged but hey I’m hungry and can deal with sausage instead of bacon. After the burritos are done I go up to pay and ask if they accept card. «Not for $ 7 I don’t» That’s what he told me! He then says I’ll do it but I have to charge me 50cents I reply I guess since they already made the burritos. I ask if they have salsa and he replies… Owner: «Yes» Me: can I have some? «Those are the sizes we have for sale» Pointing at 10oz container I was about to get pissed off at the owner but luckily the female calmed me down explaining there is salsa inside the burrito. Seriously they hate their jobs and have the worst customer service. Only reason they deserve a 1 star is cause the burritos actually tasted good. Never returning here tho, the owner is a major dick

Nick to the rescue again staying open late for us! Food was wonderful tonight. Burritos with amazing flavor. The salsa is always fresh and make sure to get the green and the red. Macho cheese chips are the best, the more jalapeño the better!
