I really enjoy the tacos here! The staff is super friendly and the Birria or Barbacoa are perfect to start off the day with a full belly!

Good place to pick up a fast semi-healthy dinner. Corn tortillas are awesome and a bargain at only $ 1 for a pound. Grab yourself a pound with roasted chicken and you’ve got a meal for 3 – 4 for cheap. Pork tamales are pretty darn good and you can get 6/$ 4.50.

One of the best places to get tortillas in bulk, fresh and ready to eat. Aside from their tortillas, they offer a variety of meat, salsas and sides to go perfect alongside any dish.

This place takes me back to my childhood when my dad would wake up early to go buy the family barbacoa Back in those days, the earlier you got to the taqueria, the better(leaner) the barbacoa. Ok brass tacks, everything i have tried here is above average. The barbacoa and carnitas are not too fatty. The corn tortillas are great. The flour tortillas are passable. The salsas are good. It should be said that this place is geared towards take out. The tortillas are sold by the dozen and the meat by the pound, There are a few tables to sit down and eat, but I think everything is self serve. If you have a lot of people to feed and are looking for old school Mexican food, this is your place.

The tortillas are awesome. The Wednesday rotisserie chicken special is great dinner for cheap, I normally eat the cárnitas or barbacoa for breakfast and it’s always fresh. The salsa can be hit or miss on days when they are not busy, it’s the only small complaint. Overall this place is a guaranteed win for fresh Mexican food, bring your extra stomach.

If you are looking for authentic Mexican cuisine… well it just doesn’t get better than this. Try the barbacoa or there menudo on the weekend. You won’t be disappointed. Green salsa is one of there best!

The tortillas are a dollar a pound. I came in Saturday and got 2 ½lb of tortillas, green salsa, chips and 2lbs barbacoa all for $ 23.00 not bad at all. And the barbacoa was tender and full of flavor I recommend this place to any one wanting good barbacoa. Now, I wonder if the meundo is as good as it looks?

This place rocks! Not an eat-in kinda place so come by knowing that you will be taking food to go. Drove by and decided to search it on Unilocal.Glad I tried it! Holy schnikees this place is good. You can get one pound of fresh made corn tortillas that are super soft and delicious as well as a whole roasted chicken for less than $ 8! I don’t even like corn tortillas — I prefer flour. BUT, when I saw them coming off the line hot and fresh, I had to try them. And one pound for only a dollar? You can’t go wrong. I also purchased a pack of flour tortillas, just in case. But honestly, I didn’t even open up the pack of flour tortillas once I tried the corn ones. The chicken is awesome. It’s about 2 – 3 pounds and it is roasted and has great flavor. It’s such a big chicken that I can make at least four meals out of it. They have a chilled green sauce that is hot and good. The sauces they give you for free are mole based, and I didn’t like them at all. So do yourself a favor and buy the chilled green sauce. The side of rice they toss in for free is tasty. I usually don’t care for Mexican style rice, but I always eat all of theirs. The beans are charro style and they have pieces of hot dogs and bacon in there. Yum! Overall, this place is a winner. The ladies behind the counter speak enough English to help out people like me, who wander in wondering how to get started. Trust me, get the chicken, the flour tortillas and the chilled green sauce. Go home and add your own sour cream n cheese and rip off those chicken legs and thighs and DIGIN! If you’re really on a budget, on Wednesdays they have roasted chicken for only $ 5! This place has me singing: Pollo Rostizado! Pollo Rostizado! Every time I drive by. It’s just that good. (Pollo Rostizado = roasted chicken)

You can’t beat $ 5 chicken on Wednesdays!!! With freshly made corn tortillas! They have the best roasted chicken. They also have tacos with different choices of meat. Their green sauce is great!

Re: Sabrina A.‘s post: Sabrina, honey, delicious fresh corn tortillas are absolutely not good after a day. They are meant to be eaten IMMEDIATELY. Corn tortillas that keep longer than a day have preservatives, but they also taste like cardboard. What happened to your poor corn tortillas was that you did not eat them fast enough — such a shame. You should have invited me over to finish them, stat.

I can’t believe all these positive reviews! The corn tortillas are impossible to eat after ONE day. I wish I had a picture of how hard and twisted they got. I don’t know what kind of ingredients they use but I’ll go ahead and say that they’re probably of an extremely low quality. The flour tortillas were so tasteless that we through almost an entire packet.

I loved the corn tortillas and the salsa de molcajete. The carnitas tasted good and the meat was tender but not crispy. The frijoles charros had little chunks of hot dogs and that’s not my thing. I’ll be back to buy just the tortillas and salsa next time.

Good lord its hard to find fresh corn tortillas in Houston. Everything was so manufactured and plain… until now. The place is cheap, the people are nice, and the food is good. What more can you ask for?

I’m gonna keep the 5 star streak going. If you’re searching for delicious food on the cheap; this place is hard to beat. The corn tortillas are easily the best I’ve ever had. Like the other reviewers, I think I’d just never had fresh corn tortillas before. We walked with a whole chicken, multiple sauces(the spicy green sauce is the best), and flour/corn tortillas for less than $ 10. I almost felt guilty! The queso fresca is apparently also very good here, but we didn’t try it this time around.

I think I am going to get really fat. Corn, corn, and more corn based products, but oh so good. they sell everything priced by the pound, like a deli, tortilla’s and meat. buy it, give them very little money, take it right home and eat yourself into a coma. I never liked corn tortillas, thought they were like plastic frisbee’s, but obviously i have never had them freshly made before. They take them right from the machine when you order them! And for 90 cents a pound(which is about 25 or so)!!! Serious good, and cheap eats if you are in the area. They operate an eat in spot next door under a different name that is not listed and it is the same meats and tortilla’s, so if you want to get a taco while there, tastes damn fine also.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this place already listed on Unilocal. It is my go to spot for fresh corn tortillas. They sell corn tortillas hot and fresh for $ 0.90 per lb. Flour tortillas are $ 1.40 per pound and aren’t as fresh as the corn(still made that day, just not hot to the touch like the corn). Both the corn and flour tortillas are better than anything you’ll get at a grocery store. Also, they sell homemade chips and salsa. The red salsa there is not my thing but the green salsa is one of the best things you will ever eat. Now our friends and family request that we bring the chips and green salsa from this place whenever we host people. No joke, it’s delicious. In Brownsville they have drive thru tortillerias. To me, that’s the only thing this place is missing.

OMG the corn tortillas at this place are heavenly… I usually eat 3 in tha car on the way back home. They are freshly made, yes machined made, but undeniably the best fresh tortillas this side of the border. They also sell carnitas, barbacoa, lengua by the pound. All meats come with salsa on the side so you can go home and make your tacos. They also sell the two salsas by the cup… they are also very authentic. Do yourself a favor and buy 2 lbs of tortillas a couple of lbs of your favorite meat and ping me later with your tales of nirvana.
