Note: I have only been here once and it was sometime early last year so I’m not taking into account if any changes or improvements have been made since then. I also won’t comment on the service since I can’t quite remember. For starters they bring you black refried bean dip and chips to the table. I remember the entrée I had was good. The restaurant was clean and nice. They had a bar area with a TV(s). It seems like there’s not much parking from the street view but there are more spots around the corner of the building. I can say this was authentic food and that this is the first place that comes to mind if I want to introduce someone to Honduran food. I have a another Honduran restaurant closer to my house yet I prefer this one.

Went last night around 8:30 for the second time. Place was decently packed as they were showing the Honduras vs. Mexico game. Service is not the best, but they only have two girls working the restaurant so it’s understandable. I ordered the fried chicken breast, which comes with plantains and a cabbage salad, but I also asked for beans and rice. The chicken was topped with a buffalo-like sauce that was great. I’m not too familiar with the specific names of the food, but everything we had was delicious, and the food came out within a reasonable time. I took off one star for service, but otherwise if you’re looking for a good and well-priced Honduran restaurant, I would say definitely give this place a try!

Great food, great taste loved it., but really bad service a girl named karen and another coworker were extremely rude with us. People like this should never be serving people. It just ruins the bussiness. If they dont fire them, they ll take the bussiness down.

Food is not good. The fish dish was over cooked and too dried. Music too loud. Good service.

It’s unfortunate that there are so many reviews noting poor service. I have thankfully never experienced this on any of my many visits and have always had quick and happy service. But I digress. Let’s get to talking business. You start each meal with chips and refried black beans covered in crumbled Honduran cheese. Sooo much better than salsa. I have not tried their famous baleadas, but everything else has been great. I especially like the lomito w chimichurri sauce. The fried yuca and chicharones are always extra crispy and delicious. The chancletas(chayote squash with cheese and a red sauce) are a perfectly satisfying dish when you’re craving a no meat option. And their drinks are always good too. I’m not one to ever complain about a good margarita, although they have a full bar if margaritas are not your thing. Their portions are very generous. Especially for the prices. I tend to be a very good eater, yet I often leave this place with leftovers. Overall a great spot for a good(and affordable!) bite.

This place is amazing!!! Every time I’m in Houston it’s a must have. Best Honduran food in town for sure(other than home made)

Glad I didn’t read the other reviews before stopping by while a flat tire was getting fixed at the nearby Goodyear. We had ‘#9′, which was eggs, bacon, rice and beans, cream cheese, and some sort of white cheese and tortillas and ‘#10″, which was awesome chilaquiles. The winner was #10. #9 was quite satisfying, though the beans were a bit undercooked. Coffee was a good smokey dark roast, better than the usual dishwater served in American diners. Service was good: One server switched to English flawlessly, the second stayed with Spanish, but with smiles, hand gestures, and rudimentary Spanish absorbed by osmosis after 31 years in Houston, everything was fine. A plus: A couple of day laborers having breakfast were having a beer with it. Another family let its son have regular pancakes. Bottom line is, we’ll be back. It’s certainly good value for decent, though not gourmet, food.

Sorry I really hate to give bad reviews but it seems that the service here has not improved at all. I stopped by today during lunch(tue 12:45pm) ordered«sopa de mondongo with totones» by 1:30 I was forced to asked if she had placed the order. 5min later the soup arrived. It was not the worst I Hv ever had and honestly it’s not even fair for me to grade this dish because us DOMINICANS make the broth much thicker and tasty. It was simply put, Blah. But the tostones were good :-/ Will not be returning :( I gave them two stars because they had bachata playing. It made the wait less noticeable until my stomach started growling

SOooo, where shall I begin… my family and I went here for a Sunday breakfast. The server didn’t speak a lick of english, Luckily I do, my cousins and my uncle do not. So once we gave our drink order that took 15 minutes to get(ridiculous)! SO we placed out order(breakfast), which came out all at different times. My cousin had his pancakes first, then 30 minutes after that they brought out a few more plate, so my uncle didn’t receive his meal until 15 minutes after that. The food is okay, the service sucks u know what. Not to mention for 5 ppl they include gratuity.

Really like the bean dip and chips they give you in the beginning. It’s pretty addicting. The baleadas are also very tasty and are enough for a whole meal. Tried a pork dish from the main menu but wasn’t too impressed. Will stick with the baleadas and plantains next time. Good, inexpensive meal.

Heard about this place from Houston Press and they recommended the Baleadas which I too recommend. And one is plenty(if you get everything on it it’s definitely a whole meal) Staff was nice and attentive on a Sunday morning. We will definitely be back for a great inexpensive breakfast meal.

I absolutely love trying food from different countries. I have driven by this place several times and finally decided to try it. The location is great, very easy to find. I walked straight back to the bar where unfortunately I did not receive eye contact immediately but eventually took a seat, was handed a menu and asked for a drink. The waitresses recommended a few things and opted to go with the«Carne Asada» which the description sounded delicious! I have to say, I was very, very disappointed. The meat was very bland and hard to chew. I asked for some type of sauce to eat it with because it was extremely dry. I literally had to let the meat soak for a little bit with the warm picante sauce the waitress had brought. It got a little tender but not enough. Unfortunately they use very low meat quality. The rice tasted old, the beans a little burn, the tomatoes on the salad not fresh at all, they were very soggy. The plantains were extremely bland, they were not sweet nor salty, they had no type of flavor. The very best part of the whole experience was the freshly made warm, thick tortillas and the restaurants décor. The poor quality of the food and service was very disappointing. :-/

I have been here several times and have not experienced the poor service mentioned by the other review. The food is very good for the price, just wish they had an outdoor area.

After reading the positive review in the Houston Press(August 2010), I was excited to try this place. I spent 2 years living and working in Honduras and am a big fan of Honduran food. In terms of food, this place was pretty good, but not so different than some of the other Honduran places in town. The baleadas were quite good– the flour tortillas appear to be made on site and were thick and fluffy. The corn tortillas were Central American-style, thick and hearty. The frijoles machucados were good as well. I was disappointed by the carne asada, which was dry and tough. However, what ruined the whole outing was the service. It was absolutely terrible. We arrived at 1:30 on a Saturday and the place was about ½ full. After waiting an hour after placing our order, half of the group received their food. Half an hour after that(an hour and a half total after placing our order) we inquired about the other half of the group’s food. The server didn’t know what we were talking about. She went to «check» on our order and 10 minutes later came to say that she never put ½ the order in. She said(in Spanish), «Oh it’s ready, it’ll be right out if you still want it.» We were starving so we agreed. 15 minutes later our food had STILL not arrived. My husband went to speak with a gentleman who appeared to be the owner or manager, in order to cancel everything and just leave. They finally brought the food to the table and the owner/manager was coming over to see what the problem was. When the waitress came over, *she* was complaining that she had to make the food! We finally got out of there at 4:05 p.m. We never received so much as an apology for the wait, neither from the waitress nor the owner/manager. It was the first time in my life I have ever left less than a 10% tip(on a $ 65 bill). Although it’s further away, I’ll stick to Las Hamacas for my baleada fix.
