This just became my favorite sushi spot in the Cypress area. Went there with my 11yo daughter and although I ordered a roll with something deep fried(Oscar Roll) and she ordered something simple(Philly Roll) they both came out at the same time which was nice. We later ordered another roll which came out quickly. Everything was perfect and delicious. Our waitress was very friendly and provided excellent service. She was funny, gave suggestions, and was happy to suggest substitutions or alterations on the rolls my daughter was considering.

Service is alright but the food is damn good! My favorite is the squid steak(I think that’s what it was called). I still talk about it to this day even though I went there like 6 months ago. The place is quiet which is nice because you can talk to the people that you went there with. Sushi isn’t too bad either

Great ambiance, pleasant customer service. Sushi role was good, chicken teriyaki bento box looked like a meal you would get from a hospital cafeteria. Quality lacking. Needs improvement for sure! Would not recommend.

Great service and fantastic sushi. The hibachi is deliciousness, but if your looking for an amazing show, it can be hit or miss. Some of the cooks get really into it, others are meh. Try the some of the special drinks/martinis. Solid Bar for a date.

Soup was real weak and it got sent back for the salad. I ordered the hibachi steak and chicken and it was delicious. Waiter was generally slow and after asking for the check, I had to wait another ten minutes for him to come by and ask if I wanted the check… Huh? Took off one star for bad soup and one for slow service when there was about ten people in here.

Tried their lunch sushi combo B, their Orange Dragon Roll, and pepper tuna nigiri. Better off getting HEB or Kroger to get the same quality food. Immediately when you walk in, it smells weird, which is definitely not what you want to experience in a sushi place. The fish was not very fresh, gritty, and too warm. The rice was way too compacted and glutinous. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant at all.

Decent. I loved my choice of roll, the hurricane; the waiter was present and pleasant, and my daughter’s entrée was great. My complaints: it took awhile for the entrée to come out, and by the time it came I had already finished my roll, so we really didn’t dine together. Another thing I noticed was that the edamame we ordered was inconsistently cooked: half was warm while the bottom pieces were cool. Overall, it’s a decent place for sushi and if you’re looking for a hibachi spot.

YES!!! The shrimp friend rice, the miso soup, everything we get is up to our standards and I enjoy the sushi while my boyfriend sticks with the steak portions. They have good alcoholic beverages and will make adjustments willingly and with courtesy. The happy hour menu is limited, but the quality is always consistent

One of my favorite sushi spots! Come during happy hour 2 – 5 I believe! I’ve been going here for years. Amazing service! Good quality is amazing, you won’t regret your visit. Try the fantasy roll, crunch roll, tornado roll, shaggy dog, Phoenix, NY roll, sumo roll, hot Mama roll! The onion soup is delicious! Fried rice is awesome! Hibachi food is amazing as well.

After a disastrous second visit, I’ve had to amend my previous review. If you are vegan or vegetarian this is not the place for you. The first issue is upon asking my waitress to double check that there was no dairy or eggs in the veggie tempura batter, I was informed that it did in fact contain milk. During my first visit my server asked and conveyed to me that the batter only consisted of water and flour. I decided to order the veggie gyoza and avocado rolls. The avocado rolls came out fine but the veggie gyoza was in fact the traditional pork gyoza. I discovered this only after taking a bite. I sent the order back and waited for the veggie gyoza to arrive. The veggie gyoza now had a green wrapper but upon biting thru seemed to contain some sort of meat, most likely chicken. I sent it back and asked to speak with a manager. The manager informed me that she had a similar complaint by another patron and had since spoken to her supplier and assured me the gyoza contained only vegetable products. I told her that although she may have been told this, clearly the gyoza contained non vegetable ingredients. Anyone who has ever eaten meat or tofu knows the difference. I was told what I was seeing was mushroom by my server. NOT! Try again. The manager assured me that she would double check with the manufacturer but basically seemed unphased by the ordeal. Given that this was the second admitted complaint, I have no faith that anything will change. Management did not even offer to comp any portion of my order. If I could give 0 stars I would. I will not be returning to Toro and if you are a strict vegetarian or vegan I’d advise you do the same.

Forget any memories you have of this place being good. Ignore any old positive posts. I’ve come here for sushi several times through the years, but last night will be the last.(Sunday around 7:30pm, the place was about half full) There are too many good sushi places on the north side now to waste your time or money at this place. 1.It took almost 10 minutes for someone to come to our table and take our drink order 2. The sever could not answer questions about the menu 3. They made our roll incorrectly TWICE — yes it took three times 4. They forgot our salads — they came after the roll, which was at least 30 minutes into the meal 5. They forgot our sashimi, which was eventually dumped at the table by the manager without a word — and it was on a plate instead of the usual ice bowl. She had to reach over several empty dirty dishes to do that, but left them. I guess to add the ambiance of disaster. I asked the server about the plate vs ice bowl, and he said«yeah, I thought that was weird.» 6. Table was covered in dirty dishes for an unacceptable length of time 7. Waters were left empty for far too long. 8. The waiters congregated by the bar and loudly complained about their tables for about 5 minutes 9. The vinyl of the booth was completely cracked and rough — the place is not being maintained 10. After all the problems we had, the manager didn’t say a word to us. She checked on the table next to us, but not us. When your experience is so bad that they are comp-ing multiple items, I expect an apology from the manager, who mostly stood around doing nothing. I can’t remember the last time that poor service affected a meal this much. We were just laughing at the comedy of errors by the end of it, because it was so bad. Our sweet but incompetent waiter suggested that maybe daylight savings was to blame and then offered to pray about the ordeal. What??? Save your money, and go somewhere that your business will be appreciated.

Tonight we came for our daughter’s birthday and as we are eating, we see a roach on our table. We tell our waiter who gets the manager. The manager tells us that she is «sorry» and will give us a «discount» off our ticket. She comes back with our ticket and a 25% discount, we only ate half of our food before seeing the roach. My bill was over $ 60 and we only ate half our food, so I asked for 50% off, which I really shouldn’t have paid anything after seeing a roach on the table. Also hearing that this is not the first time that it has happened. Someone else that works there told us since the weather change they have been seeing roaches for the past month. Obviously they are not exterminating right to get this problem under control. So yes I paid $ 30 for half the food me and my family ate after seeing the roach. ROACHESINTHISRESTAURANT! DONOTEATHERE. I WILLNEVERRETURNTOTHISRESTAURANT.

I’ve come to Toro for about 3 years, and it use to be one of my favorite places to go. I got the hibachi red snapper like usual but the meal no longer comes with soup and salad. You now have to choose. It is now 2.50 extra if you choose fried rice which comes with the meal(we were not informed by the waiter). The rice is now cooked with way more onions than before. The shrimp is now the smaller shrimp and it was tougher than before. And the«veggies» that came with it before, are now just onions, two bites of broccoli, extremely thin carrot slivers, and a small piece of squash. It use to have more vegetables, and was very delicious. The snapper was okay compared to before. If you love onions, you’ll like. If you want an actual meal. Just pass on the hibachi.

Happy hour everyday? Yes! The combination B sushi lunch special was delicious. We sat at the hibachi and found it to be very entertaining. The food prices were reasonable, given the hour that we went, I just wish they had drink specials too! That and personal sizes of flavored sake like other restaurants.

My favorite sushi place, only giving 4 stars because it’s expensive. Quality is always fresh and service is always fantastic. They do have a happy hour as well. Hibachi is really good too, they do noodles and rice which is different and really good.

We came back today to celebrate a birthday. We had the Asian chef with glasses he was really amusing not and fun. The food was much better the. Before and the service was really good and fast. The only thing I would say on a Saturday the place is pretty fun so you should make reservations.

Dinner for one, take out, this seemed like the perfect choice! Unfortunately I had to make sure that all I ordered was the Chicken and shrimp hibachi plate. I preferred the chicken only but to make things less complicated I just agreed for the shrimp. Before the waitress hung up, she said my total was $ 30.31! I literally went online and checked the prices to make sure that I heard her right. I can’t believe the significant difference between lunch and dinner at this place. There are several other places that offer this amount of food for half of the price. Maybe $ 30 if you are dining in, alone. The food was good, but after the wait, price and lack of sauce(that I requested extra), I think I can find somewhere just as good if not better.

One of my favorite places in North Houston for Happy Hour, Sushi, and Martini’s. Dim lighting, black sleek décor, and friendly bar tenders. Been numerous times during the week and weekend. It is also popular for hibachi. Large portions, but I don’t go unless it is happy hour. I have had almost everything on the happy hour menu. Loved the crab puffs and dumplings. Sushi wise Volcano Roll if you like cooked. Spider, New York, and all basic rolls included on HH menu. Try the Hot Mamma and something with jalapenos and cream cheese, can’t remember the name.

Come here regularly because its nearby and one of the only decent sushi places in the cypress area. They also have a great happy hour that lasts from 2 – 7 if I’m not mistaken, and has a looooong list of food and some drinks. Service is pretty decent here, my drink is always replenished anytime it gets low. The waiters/waitresses are really attentive and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the menu. The food comes out really fast, and the quality is always really consistent here. The menu boasts a variety of foods, from hibachi to sushi and even a few noodle options here. I’ve only had the sushi here but the selection of fresh sashimi and the rolls are aplenty. They have a bunch of really unique rolls here that i’ve never seen anywhere else. If you’re in the area give this place a chance and check them out.
