I had dinner there with my brother in mid-June. Excellent waiter, very knowledgable. He said he had been there 12 years, and he knew the menu well. Very personable, and I enjoyed the pleasant conversation we had. I was considering a particular entrée, but he highly recommended their«special»: Chilean Seabass. They do have it normally, but the«special» was that it was done with a crabmeat topping for $ 42. He made a point of the fact it was very special with the crabmeat, and they normally do not do that. Ok, you convinced me to change my order. Sounds very good. Nice presentation when it arrived(everything they brought was well presented). I was a few bites into it when I realized… there was no crabmeat. I got him over, and he was surprised. He went to the kitchen, came back and apologized. He said«what we can do is take $ 3 off of your bill, since that’s the price of the crabmeat». Really? If that’s the best solution you can come up with, keep the $ 3. I changed my order based on the recommendation, and the fact this was the special. When your kitchen does not deliver on a $ 42 entrée, you should probably have a better plan. I don’t expect a comp’d meal. No, not at all. But throwing $ 3 back my way is how this is handled in lesser restaurants. I certainly expected something a bit more sophisticated at Tommy’s. The manager came out, apologized, and said something about making it right… but nothing tangible to encourage me to come back. Plusses: very good service, excellent bread, excellent appetizer. Presentations were excellent. Vegetables and sides were cooked to perfection. My gin martini from the bar was one of the best I’ve had in years. They made it exactly as I asked. Negatives: I ordered a Cabernet, and it was warm. C’mon folks… nice wine at a fine dining establishment needs to be served at the correct temperature. It’s one of the easiest things to get right, and there is no excuse for it not happening. They certainly have the potential for 4 and 5 star ratings. But this was my first visit there, and it didn’t happen that day. I’d give them a 3.5, but as this is my first rating, I don’t know if I can do fractions of numbers. So, it will be a 3, it seems. I’ll probably try it one more time to see how it goes… and will wait to recommend it to my Houston friends until I can see if they can step it up.

People mostly come here for the seafood and I was not really in the seafood mood. I got the Blackened chicken linguini pasta with roasted tomato sauce mixed with the roasted garlic parmesan cheese sauce. This place was spot on with there pasta and it was not over cooked or soggy. This dish was packed full of flavor and did not disappoint. The chicken was cooked to temperature and moist to the taste. When I am ready I will come back to test the seafood and see how it is.

This is definitely one of the nicer dining options in the Clear Lake area that frees itself from being a chain or otherwise tied to other locations. The menu is extremely diverse, with a focus on seafood along with steak, chicken, you name it. Very classic American fare, with a variety of creative options. A good lunch menu and you can easily go with a soup/salad if you don’t have the appetite for something more filling. I prefer local seafood options(shrimp, crawfish, oysters) but they also have a variety of fish that are excellent. The service here is tops in the Bay Area. So much so, having been coming for years, you see many of the same servers. An indication of their ability and the restaurant’s dedication to ensuring their most talented servers are taken care of. Very attentive, never miss a beat, and extremely professional. Never had a bad server. The service is prompt enough you can get in and out in a power lunch hour, which is nice. They have two rooms for private events, both meet our company’s needs when called upon. Usually for Happy Hour or a private lunch, everything is ready when you get there and they make sure you get enough servers to take care of the size of your group. Finger food is good(not outstanding) and they are very attentive to empty drinks making the rounds frequently and returning promptly. The only reason I wouldn’t go five stars is that the prices reflect their pride in menu and service. I’m more than willing to pay for those things so that’s okay here. The food is well above average, but not necessarily. Certainly a place on my short list!

I wish I had a 3.5 option. We shared oysters, escargot, and fried green tomatoes. The oysters were $ 6.00 a dozen on a happy hour Saturday that’s great right!!! Love any place that has HH on Saturday. The oysters were great, fresh and tasty! The escargot was ok– just a bit bland. The fried green tomatoes presentation was great but totally lacked flavor. We each had one. Then let the waiter know we didn’t even want to take them home. Had a bottle of wine and a few beers. Cost was very reasonable. My companion ordered the mignonette sauce with her oysters and that had a $ 4.00 charge. Strange. We had a good time and enjoyed most of our food. Will go again.

Visited here for the first time recently for an early dinner, and was very pleased with the food and our waiter. The crab stuffed mushrooms were AMAZING, some of the best I have ever had. My filet was a bit on the dry side, but still delicious. Our waiter was very helpful, kind, and prompt with service. My only complaint is the hostess. Upon walking in the door the young red headed girl gave me one of those«up and down» glares, and simply stared at my husband and I. Instead of asking if we needed a table, just a blank stare. We were both quite speechless, thankfully our waiter made up for her negative first impression.

The staff was very attentive when we walked in and we were seated immediately. The restaurant has appealing décor and atmosphere. The waiter came quickly and was very professional. He served us everything we asked for in a timely manner. The food was disappointing because I expected it to be better based on our experience so far. I ate about four of the dozen oysters I ordered. The oysters did not have a fresh shucked look not taste. I really only told my boyfriend to take me here to try the oysters so it made it that much more disappointing. We asked the waiter if they make painkillers and was told yes but the bartender didn’t know how to make it. Although He gave it a try, it didn’t measure up but I was grateful for the effort. The Manhattan wasn’t anything to write home about either. My boyfriend had the crawfish platter. He enjoyed it but I thought it was just ok. I had the mussels in white sauce with linguini. I loved the white sauce and linguini! The flavor was amazing. The mussels were just ok and A couple didn’t taste too fresh. Didn’t stay for dessert.

Yes, I’m definitely a fan! …especially on Tuesday’s and Friday’s when the oysters are $ 6.00 a dozen. DIDYOUHEARME? $ 6 a dozen!?! And they are big and so good! Plus, Tommy’s has delicious fresh bread. I usually go for the oysters and get a ½ grilled wedge salad.

I usually always get let down when it comes to seafood. Not this time. It was amazing from beginning to end. Our waiter was so nice, and his suggestion of the off-the-menu oyster trio was amazing. The atmosphere is almost fine dining, but prices are good for seafood. You definitely get what you pay for and more. We searched all over on Unilocal for seafood… and now… And after getting burned at a restaurant in San antonio, I read every comment. This was an amazing suprise. I wish I had gotten our waiter’s name. He was so very gracious!(Kind of reddish blonde hair, young… sorry dude, next time…) Great place!

First time experience was amazing. Atmosphere is very mature. Just made it in time for happy hour. Service was excellent as I still remember our servers name Jo. The food was high grade and delicious. The best part was that for the quality of food and amount of food I ok would have expected to spend a good $ 100 for the 2 of us. But I spend much less than half of that for happy hour. Will come back with more people soon.

Oysters and food is delicious! Service was excellent, friendly, and fast! I do not like the layout of the tables at all, we were seated in the walk way area and it just wasn’t comfortable(not sure how to describe it). The music was very very low and felt as though the restaurant needs a jolt of energy to bring some zazz to the place!

Decent prices on oysters! Half price for raw oyster on a friday! Went late Friday night and was not that busy. Oysters were small but can’t complain because of the price. I had tommys grilled oysters and they were delicious! We will be back!

What a lunch. Started with Tommys Grilled Oyster as an appetizer and was blown away. Oysters with butter, garlic, white wine topped with parmesan cheese was a treat. Then had the crispy salmon. Phyllo wrapped salmon stuffed with spinach. Excellent. If you want a some special seafood dishes you cant get anywhere else go to Tommy’s. You wont be disappointed.

I went here the other night not knowing exactly what to expect. Well frankly I was blown away. First of all the service was spectacular. It was a Saturday night so it was crowded yet we were seated promptly even though we didnt have a reservation. Our main reason for going was oysters. Prdered a dozen and they came out fast. Very good oysters by the way. Their gumbo though is excellent. Just how gumbo should be. Even ordered shrimp and crawfish stuffed jalapenos. Maaaan those were good. Would def come back again!

Yuck. Pre-shucked oysters! Dry chewy nauseating. WHY would a place that specializes in oysters EVER serve them pre-shucked. There’s no excuse for that. If I ever go back I’ll be sure to ask for them to be freshly shucked. Suggest you do the same.

I came here while travelling in Houston for work. The dining room was very loud, but nice, and the server Mike was great. The food was very good, the blackened jumbo shrimp was great. They do not have beer on tap, but they did have a couple local brews from Texas in bottles.

This place was OK, my first impresion was that it’s a pretty solid 3 star establishment. They were a little slow sitting us, although there were a few empty tables. Once we were seated the experience was pretty regular. They had a special for oyster for $ 8 per dozen. My friend got the dozen and said they were pretty good. I ordered their calamari, which was ok. The red snapper was ok too. Not impressed but, I would go there again.

Went to have the $ 6 a dozen raw oysters. Normally I could eat about 3 dozen but stopped eating them at my first dozen. Oysters must be eaten alive, or cooked alive. Ours had to have been shucked in the morning and placed in the refrigerator in anticipation of the customer demand during the Tuesday and Friday specials($ 6 dozen all day). The oyster shells were bone dry and the oysters themselves were dry. Oysters die when they consume oxygen from air, like a fish? Oysters are obviously delicate and one can taste the difference. Kind of like a boiled lobster. You can taste the difference if your lobster was dead or alive when cooked. Our first dozen was dry. Who wants to eat a dried out dead oyster? There is nothing like being in a restaurant and watching the oysters shucked in front of you and immediately served. Entrée prices are insane. Service is excellent. Happy Hour dishes are great. I am a bit confused on Tommy’s mission. Seems like the success is potentially the Happy Hour oysters, dishes and service, since they are always packed full of customers. Forget the entrees, $$$$$$$$$ and ho-hum quality. I’d rip out the kitchen and fill it with folks that can support the demand for high quality food, what the customer wants and what they will pay for.

I have to admit I was impressed with the size and price of the oysters during Happy Hour! $ 6 per dozen! I also had the Tommy’s grilled oysters which are regular priced but all so good! Looking at my friends plates as well as other customers the portions of the regular plates are abundant and relatively cheap. The beef short ribs looked so good. Next time I am going to order them. The servers and bartenders were working hard and they did a descent job for a place that was packed with a waiting list. Definitely a place I will revisit. Another rare 5 star thus getting the T. Song of approval!

The oysters are the big winner here! We got the broiled oysters with the sauce and the gooey stuff on top, and loved them so much, we fought over who got the last one, so we ordered another order of them! They had great flavor, were fresh, and the sauces were really good. The second winner, a close second for two or our dinners that afternoon, was the carrot soufflé. My daughter actually asked for a second order of it, and they informed us the recipe was on the website. So I have since made the recipe at home several times. It’s really good! I’ve also made it with sweet potatoes and carrots both. The cool blue coloring and decore of the dining room fits nicely with a seafood restaurant. It’s got an ocean-y feel to it. The accessibility isn’t bad for wheelchair access, but there is a dining platform, so on a really busy night, you might want to be sure to get a reservation for a table to ensure you get one that’s not on the platform and so you won’t get stuck as a walk-in/wheelchair access problem. There’s a full bar. I got the feeling the bar business is probably bigger in the later evenings and weekends, because there were flyers on the table for drink specials. We were there for a very late lunch/early dinner. The fish – we had three types at the table and I got to sample all of them – we well seasoned and properly cooked. It wasn’t anything spectacular to write home about, but it was solid, well-prepared and tasty. The rice pilaf was better seasoned and more flavorful than most I’ve eaten at other places. After the carrot soufflé, dessert wasn’t even necessary. There’s a good selection of reasonably priced wines and sparkling bubblies and good drink specials. But again, if you’re an oyster fan, the oysters are THE reason to go to Tommy’s. You won’t be disappointed. There’s a bar menu with the oysters on it separate from the main menu too. I found the prices for the oysters very surprisingly reasonable, and the rest of the menu was also reasonably priced. Next time I’m craving oysters, this is the place I’m going!

Oyster dishes are good, the blue cheese burger is great for lunch. However, if your trying to portray yourself as an upscale seafood restaurant your fish special should never be TILAPIA — much less every day! Get some real fish, if I wanted bait fish I would go next door and get s McFish. I guess it’s on frozen special at Sam’s everyday. Even Red Lobster has a decent Mahi.

We have lived in Clear Lake for over 30 years and have gone to Tommy’s many times. The food here is consistently good and the prices are reasonable. However this evening the service was just awful. It took our waiter almost 15 minutes to address us after we were seated. He took our drink order and basically disappeared for the rest of the meal. The next time we saw him we were asking for the check. Too bad a comment card wasn’t provided. This is the type of service that drives customers away.

It’s good… for Clear Lake. $ 6 dozen succulent, fresh, readily available raw oysters on the half shell all day Tuesdays and Fridays! I would totally go for oysters, their bread and a drink. Everything else is not worth it. Their bread is great. Fresh sourdough with an amazing Italian dip mixture. I’m totally not a bread person but I ate half of a plate of their bread. I tried the blackened red fish, seared tuna steak, grilled shrimp, and actually several different other fish entrees. Ever single fish was leaning towards the dry side and slightly overcooked. Everything was spectacular until the entrée. Not a deal killer since it does have a great atmosphere, good service and you can be full from delicious appetizers without even looking at the main course dishes. Go here on Tuesdays!

This is my favorite place to eat Seafood when I’m in Seabrook. The prices seriously cannot be beat, the drinks are made well and the service is top notch. We ordered at least 5 dozen of the raw oysters, and I can tell you I was leading the charge in consumption. We also shared the Oysters Rockefeller and I tried the Enchilada Oysters for the first time. Everything was great and the Martinis were top notch.
