I am not an expert in Vietnamese food to say the least, but my chargrilled pork bahn mi didn’t make it out of the Fiesta parking lot, it was that good. The bread was amazing, the meat smokey and succulent, and the veggies fresh. I’m pretty sure I’ll be finding that flaky bread crust around me for days. I was tempted to go right back inside and order another! The price also can’t be beat!

I had a huge craving for Vietnamese food, and while it did satisfy my craving, I’ve had a lot better. This was the closest Vietnamese food place from work, and I am a desperate pregnant lady that needs to satisfy my cravings. I also had a craving for some Tapioca. DONOT get it from this place. My tapioca balls were not prepared right(they were hard and not chewy at all). On top of that, I was overcharged for it — $ 5 for a tapioca drink?!! Never coming here again. I’d rather travel further for quality/not being ripped off. He’s lucky I was so hot from the Houston heat that I didn’t even care he didn’t make my drink right. Grant it, the guy at the place was nice, but I honestly think he overcharged me. My receipt says $ 4.33 and I distinctly remember signing for $ 5.15. Ugh, I should’ve said something… my fault.

Nice balance of sweet and heat on the chargrilled pork Banh Mi. Enjoyed a plump order of spring rolls, too. Friendly service.

Was in the area and heard about this place through a friend… Its located inside Fiesta… had their charcoaled pork banh mi and charcoaled chicken rice plate… my fiancée and I thought it was real good, real cheap, and real fast… they also have spring rolls and tapioca drinks… just what you need when you work in the med center and need a quick vietnamese fix.

Their sandwhich-Combination one is really really salty. I asked for extra spicy and there’s no jalapeño whatsoever. It doesn’t do vietnamese sanwhich any justice. Having lived in San Jose, this place is like your panda express of vietnamese food.

I’ve been here a few times as it is just a few minutes away from work and I can do grocery shopping while I’m waiting for my food and make it back to work in an hour! I tried the chargrilled pork bahn mi which was very good. I also tried their egg rolls which were yummy. It came out to less than $ 6 — that’s a deal!

$ 5.25 for a small sandwich, appetizer, and drink? Sweet deal! Too bad they were out of eggrolls, which are usually amazing. I tried the crab puffs, which were ok, but seriously, when did deep fried cream cheese make its way into Asian restaurants? The whole concept is a bit strange to me. Everything came in a large-scale lunchables-esque tray thing, which was impressive. And sort of handy when trying to eat in the car because there are no tables to sit at(no, I wasn’t eating alone in my car, I have enough dignity to hide my lameness in the confines of familiar walls if it comes down to it). Anyways. Got the combination sandwich, which surprisingly had too much butter for me(I loveee butter). Maybe I minded because it wasn’t salted butter, so I was made painfully aware of the fact that I was eating pure fat globules. At least the vegetables were really fresh — a huge improvement over Cali’s average ingredient quality. Thankfully, the delicious(surprisingly large) vietnamese coffee(not included in combo) gave me enough buzz to move on with my day.

The customer service was great. The food was good. I paid $ 6 for a whole lot of rice and very little chicken. I think I’ve been spoiled by other Vietnamese restaurants that pack in the meat and veggies.

I was so excited to see Thiem Hung Express open up in Fiesta a few months ago, as I’ve eaten at Thiem Hung downtown. This one is much closer to my place. :) Anyway, they have a good variety of dishes, banh mi, vermicelli bowls, rice dishes, appetizers, and I actually can’t remember whether they have phở. Small banh mi are 2.50 and Large are 3.50. I always get a small chargrilled pork, and while it’s not the best banh mi I’ve ever had, it’s pretty good, AND i love how inexpensive it is. Now I don’t have to drive all the way to Chinatown for yummy, cheap banh mi! I’ve had the vermicelli once and that was good as well. I took it to go though, so it was kind of strange eating it out of a styrofoam container. They have specials each day, but I have yet to try those or any of the rice dishes… I really need to branch out. On one visit I was taken care by a lady who I had trouble communicating with. The rest of the times went more smoothly, and I received very friendly service. I usually place my order and then walk around Fiesta, seeing if I need to buy anything. Also, they now accept credit cards. The hours as of today are Mon-Sat 11 – 7 pm.

Closed on Sundays. Inside the Fiesta Mart grocery store. About a week ago, I hit the Braes Bayou hike and bike trail and wanted a light meal afterward but didn’t want to drive to New Chinatown or downtown for a banh mi. After spotting David N’s review, I thought I’d give it a whirl since it was tucked inside the Fiesta grocery store next to Reliant Stadium. One of the partners, Kim, greeted me warily and asked if I was having a bun [vermicelli] dish. When I replied that I wanted a banh mi [sandwich], she smiled in relief. Then, the grin turned to a sigh when I said I wanted a banh mi thit nuong [chargrilled pork]. They had run out earlier due to a wave of city workers — they only grill a set amount prior to opening since Fiesta asks that they not fragrance the store with grilling meat. [Why anyone would object to this is beyond me.] Kim persuaded me to try a banh mi ga nuong(chargrilled chicken) and I broke out of my rut and tried it. Slathered with hand whipped butter, the crispy baguette was filled with delicious lemongrass tinged chicken, fresh marinated and julienned carrots, heaps of cilantro, cucumber slivers, and a dosing of jalapeño slices. All for $ 3.50, including tax. Delicious! Returning on a different night, effusive Kim wasn’t there but her stunning cousin was there in her place. Even as a gay man, I can still really appreciate a gorgeous woman. I chatted her up as I ordered another banh mi ga nuong and couldn’t help noticing that she really was beautiful — especially, as she really laced my baguette with an extra large helping of butter. But, everyone looks better to me if they’re making me a big sandwich. The sandwich was just as scrumptious as before — and I’m glad that Thiem Hung Express is in the Medical Center neighborhood. While we’re not seriously lacking in beautiful babes here, we were suffering from a dearth of banh mi bodegas. Welcome!

On my recent trip to Fiesta I was shocked to see a Thiem Hung Express right next to Chopstix. A walked right by thinking blah, just junk in a supermarket and went along with my grocery shopping. At the end of my trip I was hungry and decided to give them a try. Good thing I did. I was greeted by the same woman that worked at Thiem Hung’s main location. This was when I knew the quality was going to be the same. I went ahead and ordered a banh mi thit nuong and a dac biet. They cost me 3.50 each and they were made quick. Within 5 minutes I had 2 hot crunchy banh mis. The quality meat, veggies, and bread were all transferred to this express location. They only take cash and has a short menu including only banh mi, rice plates, and noodle plates. I will be grabbing a sandwich everytime I shop at Fiesta!
