I had lunch from the buffet. It was very tasty. I’ll return. I’m not from Houston so I know food with quality and flavor when I eat it!

The food is OK, fine for a quick lunch, but not too impressed.

This is one of my favorite Thai places in rice village. The service is fantastic and the staff are always very welcoming. Food very good as well.

Thai Village has always been slightly subpar in my opinion. It isn’t nearly as authentic as other Thai restaurants, nor is it as tasty as other places. The food is a bit bland in opinion, and the supposedly«spicy» foods on the menu really aren’t that spicy at all. There’s something about this place that misses the mark, and it may just be the combination of the average tasting food, the seemingly forced decorations throughout the restaurant, and the slow service. Although Thai Village is conveniently located in Rice Village and even has student discounts for Rice students, I would avoid coming here if possible. The only real positive about the place is that their portions are sizable… but that’s still not enough to make me come here on a regular basis. There are many better Thai restaurants across Houston, so my advice would be to take full advantage of those before coming here.

12÷6÷15: I left a 5-star review on 9÷19÷10, but I am updating it to a 3-star. So I come here for much more than 5 years, and lately I noticed that the service has become terrible. Food is still OK, generally I go for the red curry with seafood and fried calamari. Last time I also ordered some spicy shrimp soup. So, two of the three items are spicy. Somehow servers at this place has the wrong idea about what service really means. They bring your drink(water) to your table, then deliver the food(food arrives fast generally). Then they forget about you. Refilling? Get ready to find your way to the kitchen entrance where the water jars are located. Last time I got a female waiter who became nowhere to be found after she took my order, and at the cashier seat two male servers were talking. Make no mistake: this is not a real busy restaurant, especially the times when I go. So, it cannot be an excuse that they were working with other guests. When I visited, there were 4 parties(of 3, 4, and 6). The owners should do something about the service, otherwise people will not return. And this is one of the reason why exactly I go to the next door to get my curry 48 times of 50.

I ate here for lunch, with my girlfriend. She had tofu pad thai, and I had the Treasure fish. My. Food. Was. Delicious! The sauce on that fish was amazing. I tried the pad thai, as well, and it was pretty good. Not the best pad thai ever, but not bad. I’d certainly go back. The service wasn’t bad, but it did take a long time to get my food. Not sure if that’s normal, since it was my first time here.

Tried this place for the first time and it was good. Ordered red curry and yellow curry. Tried Thai tea too. That was awesome!

Depending on your mindset, Thai village can be a hit or mess. Not the most inspiring culinary experience, but I come when I’m craving solid comfort food and for some reason, for me, that means pad thai. It’s probably the carbohydrate allure as Thai village presents you with a massive plate of noodles and so at that point, caloric worries go out the window. But if you’re searching for something more than that, then maybe not. However, Thai village isn’t the best in my opinion; it’s just the most bang for your buck. Their pad thai leans to more sweet than savory, which isn’t my preference. And they could have a little more customer care because I had a reunion dinner with some friends and we had a lot to talk about but it felt like the waiters were trying to not so subtly urge us out even though there were plenty of open seating… Definitely not a choice you’ll regret *too much* if you choose Thai village, but definitely better options available(i.e. Thai spice)!

The food wasn’t the best but it was good. My fiancé and I came here after receiving the worst customer service next door at Shiva. The waitress at Thai Village was attentive, polite, and patient. They were consistently filling our water glasses and took away our plates as soon as we were done eating. They greeted us at the door with a smile and welcomed us graciously. I’m glad we decided to leave Shiva due to bad service. We both had vegetable dishes that were great.

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in rice village and I could not help myself but to come here at least once a week. They had incredibly good fried rice that was really flavorful. However, recently, I have noticed that the fried rice has become really bland and the prices seem quite high for the quality of food I am getting. Is also seemed like they can never maintain consistent levels of spice. I will ask for medium spicy and either they will forget it, or when I ask again, dump in a ridiculous amount of chili. I don’t know what happened to the food because the quality has certainly gone down. However, the food is still edible and the prices aren’t atrocious. The service is also decent with the waiters/waitresses being quite friendly.

If you’re craving Thai food, DON’T come here. It will make you not want Thai food for a while. The only good thing here was their tapioca. We went for lunch and was suckered into participating in their lunch buffet. Worst. Decision. Ever. Everything was cold or not there. I don’t even know what else to say. It was mediocre at best. There are way better places in Houston. THAIGOURMET is the best Thai I’ve had in Houston. Look them up.

Today was my first and last visit to Thai Village. We arrived at 1:00 p.m. The buffet closes at 2:00 p.m. which should allow plenty of time for the kitchen to replenish the buffet. The buffet stayed 98% empty. Only twice did I see a dish barely refilled. There were lots of hungry people waiting to eat even the small amount of food so the food was«wiped out» as soon as it was replenished. I have never left a buffet hungry but it’s hard to eat when there is nothing there. What little food there was tasted horrible. The place was very understaffed. There are lots of other restaurants in Rice Village. Go someplace else.

I love the cute décor inside. Staff is friendly. Always kept my glass filled with water. The food is good. Don’t have a single complaint about anything other than my tapioca which was a little weird. When I went up to the cashier the lady asked me if I had ordered a drink and I said no. I was still charged for the lunch buffet + cost of soda. A little disappointed by this as I didn’t see it while I was in the restaurant. I’ll be coming back and not leaving a tip the next time just to get even.

Have to agree with the overall sentiment that Thai Village is OK but nothing I would go out of the way to visit. Even in Rice Village, I’d choose Thai Spice for its taste and atmosphere first. The thing about Thai food is even if it’s not amazing it usually still tastes damn good. It’s really hard to go wrong with curry or fried noodles. And I enjoyed both the Yellow Curry and Pad Thai! The portions were quite large. But it was missing that addicting mouth on fire spicy kick that is really so essential to the Thai food experience for me. If anything, Thai village did help me reach this epiphany — once you’ve had those spices it’s hard to go without. Service was prompt though a bit confusing. We were seated, given menus, asked for orders, served, and given checks by different people for almost every step of the process haha. Don’t think I’ll be back in the near future when there’s so many other great Thai options in the Houston area, but this would be a good option for a fast Village dinner especially if you’re not a fan of spicy.

Great good nice atmosphere. Could update the décor it at least paint job. Walked by one day and couldn’t tell if they were open. Went to check online I r their hours and the website doesn’t work. Hoping they will update this and fix the situation just so they don’t lose business.

Thai Village is definitely a backup restaurant as I could never imagine anyone ever choosing it as a first choice. The location in rice village seems to let it get away with its mediocre, but still not too terrible Thai entrees. I think the saving grace of this place is the lunch buffet — but I unfortunately came here during dinner. With that being said — the Tom Yum Goong was the best thing I had that night.

Sometimes you don’t want to be blown away by your food. Sometimes you want the simple joy of just eating a large plate of noodles. Well, here is your place! Thai Village is spacious and the service is generally attentive. None of the noodle dishes are unforgettable, but I often find myself craving their pad thai – for me, it hits just the right spot of okay. Believe it or not, it has taken me quite a while to find the perfect okay pad thai dish. Other than the pad thai, I like the pad see ew. I generally like drunken noodles more than pad see ew, but for some reason the portions for drunken noodles are smaller here? And it doesn’t taste different enough from the pad see ew to merit getting less food. Generally, the portions are really large. I usually find that I can take half of it back with me. Also, if you’re a Rice student, you get a 10% discount for dine in! To conclude, Thai Village objectively isn’t the best Thai place you can find, but it is still one of my solid go-to’s in the Rice area.

Every once in a while I’ll be craving Thai food and if I’m ever in the area, I’ll stop by Thai Village to cure my Thai fix. Now Rice Village does have another Thai place just down the street and I have been to both, and unfortunately, I have to choose Thai Spice over Thai Village. But I’ll leave this place with some of my thoughts. At Thai Village, the staff is very friendly and are always attentive to the customer’s needs. I really like that. Apparently this place has been open since 1990’s, so pretty much for a really long time and they seem to be getting some business and attract regulars. However the times that I have particularly came in, it’s always been dead during dinner. During lunch, they serve a buffet as well as the regular menu items. I have yet to try the buffet, so that’s next on my foods to try. The food is good as always, and considering that Thai food is my absolute favorite, sometimes I wish the portions wasn’t so small. Maybe that’s me. I usually order the green curry and chicken Pad Thai. I have however ordered the TOFU Pad Thai and I was not at all pleased with how the tofu was cooked and marinated. It has this weird taste to it and kind of felt like it was overcooked. Disappointed. Portions seems to be pretty darn small. Makes me sad. For a Thai place, it was interesting to see them sell Phở… If I really wanted Phở, I would go to an authentic Vietnamese restaurant and order Phở. Not go to a Thai place. Just my two cents. The interior does have nice authentic paintings to represent the Thai culture and some statues to add in. It’s a casual place with plenty of seating area. Place could possibly need a little cleaning. So for those looking for great service, nice interior, but with mediocre food and small portions, then this is the place for you. But as for myself, I’ll be going down the street to Thai Spice. So sorry Thai Village, but after discovering Thai Spice, I won’t be coming back.

Came here randomly on a weeknight decided to try something new. Weather was nice and the had available patio seating… so they won! Food was ok. Had the green curry, ok. And the«fajitas», boring. No side sauces. Not even Sriracha. Had the veggie spring rolls with tofu. Lots of noddles and lettuce on those. What really did the whole meal in was the service. Which was horrible. We had to go inside to put our orders in and ask for water. bc we never had a waiter come. Food was dropped off and that was it. We even had to go inside and pay at the counter bc no one cane to bring us a check or check on us. Good thing I’m honest.

Thai Village is a decent restaurant that is super convenient for Rice students, but not a place for an extraordinary Thai food experience. The moment I walked in, I enjoyed the authentic Thai decors but at the same time, I was repulsed by the filthiness. Our party was also seated next to a large, holey white cover that concealed the other side of the room. Talk about sketchy. The food itself was as unimpressive as the setting. My order was the chicken Thai fried rice($ 9.95), which was decent and delicious but not rave-worthy. I thought I was fortunate that I didn’t order the pad thai though because I stole a few bites from my friend’s order and was shocked at how sweet it is. In fact, it was so sweet that it was rather ridiculous. This wasn’t my first pad thai and I have never had a pad thai that sweet before. The bottom line is that Thai Village is not bad, but it should not be a destination you should go out of way to reach if you have other Thai cuisine choices.
