This place is a hit and miss! I’ve been here three times now. First time hated it but gave it a second try and it was good but not the best. The food is fresh and is flavorful. It’s a buffet type place. You could order fresh naan to come out while your eating and doesn’t cost you anymore money. Everything is self serve and once your done you head to the back of the restaurant and pay. The cashier man is the owner and is super nice. If you cater your food than its even better. Food taste a lot better for some reason.

Don’t eat their buffet, dine in instead and you will be pleasantly surprised. Their nihari, haleem, chicken tikka, samosas and malai boti are particularly appetizing! I have enjoyed the food every time I have had it. So much cleaner than other desi restaurants!

This is the best Indian restaurant in Houston. It is a mix of hyderbadi(Indian) and Pakistani taste. There Hakeem, biryani and fish fry is awesome. Small buffet but packed with flavor. Service is good.

Just tried this place by my house my friend took us to, we loved it! He rebranded their stuff and it looks spiffy. My favorites were the chicken tikka, chicken tikka masala and the fry paratha(sooo good!!!) It’s really nice inside but with today’s awesome weather we opted to sit on their patio.

Same dishes in buffet all day every day. For some reason they don’t like changing their menu. Food tastes average.

HORRIBLE service! The owner is so rude and does not know how to treat his customers. Even when he made a mistake with our order, he didn’t accept he was wrong and started showing us so much attitude.

Buffet is yummy they always have really yummy food the briyani is so yummy and I also love their Kabab… I wish they would have more of a selection since the buffet price for dinner is quite expensive but non the less the food is yummy and it is hot and fresh not like some other buffet place that serves you overnight food.

This is a pretty good restaurant. We ended up having their dinner buffet, which had a decent selection of maybe 10~ items. The only thing you need to watch out for are random bones seem to be in the butter chicken, which kind of catch you off gaurd.

Super clean halal/zabiha Indo-Chinese restaurant. The environment was nice too, except for the usual desi customer service. The food was superb! Made fresh! Naan were scrumptious. Chilli chicken WASN’T even THAT spicy! Complementary coleslaw and chutneys are provided in the beginning. I’m definitely planning to come back, when in mood, for some halal Chinese.

I came here for a buffet, and it was about average when compared to other buffets in the area. The selection was limited and had a few Oriental dishes in the mix, hence the name. This must be a Pakistani restaurant based upon some of the dishes served. There is nothing spectacular about the buffet, my own real recommendation would be that maybe they should give a larger variety of dishes served in smaller quantities so that there would be a turnover of fresh food during the meal. I was killing some time so I spent about an hour, and the majority of the food on the buffet was the same food present when I arrived.

Worst fried chicken burger ever. Owner thinks he’s funny but he’s not. Chicken malai boti was the only good meal to eat with naan.

I like to pride myself in the saying that«I will try anything once.» Well… almost. When it comes to food, anything but blow fish and/or insects. Under the heading of that slogan of mine, I am always up for trying new things. Let me be clear. I have not tried Indian food but once before. That one time was somewhere off Harwin and more than 10 years ago. All I remember was people telling me if you want spicy, try Indian food, and I did, and it wasn’t …bad. Since then I’ve heard pretty much the same thing from many people and that’s what landing me at Tempura BBQ Grill. Don’t let the name fool ya. It’s Indian food. And don’t let the word buffet fool ya… they have about 12 items on it. And if you missed that let’s try this… TWELVE! And just if you missed that one… one last try… XII. That includes the soups… so 10. And of those 10, maybe and I do mean maybe… 5 meat items. And I tried every single one of them. The difference between my untouched plate and my finished plate is about one bite from each item. Simply put… I like it not. Oh wait! Whew, I almost misspoke and I don’t wanna do that. I had 2 refills of the best on the buffet… Mountain Dew! So perhaps I just don’t like Indian food. I want to like it because I hear so much about it and it’s all positive. Perhaps I need to try something off the menu instead. but I don’t know what to order. I would have loved to try the tempura shrimp but they don’t put it on the menu anymore as was referenced in one of the photos. Perhaps I’ve just been out of luck in finding the right Indian food restaurant. Or. perhaps my taste buds are right and this place was just not good. Well, regardless of all the perhaps.ses.(new word). I won’t be going back and I will still be on the search for good spicy Indian food. Until then… …Dew and Prosper!

I been there plenty of times during lunch and dinner. Excellent food. I like their chicken corn soup, briyani, karahi, kheer, lahori fish. Make sure if you like to have naan, ask the waiter to bring you one hot straight of the oven. I love to eat good food and instead of writing bad reviews, I prefer to leave none, but if I love it, I will definitely leave a good one.

Buffet: One of my favorite joints in the area because I work close by. Lahori fish, tempura fried chicken, and goat karahi my favorite dishes. A La Carte: My favorite dishes are the chilli chicken with rice, Malai kebab roll(best in Houston), and the chicken behari kebab. I am a regular there and that is not going to change.

Firstly I must mention to you that my friends, family and I, we like trying new cuisines & flavours, we go out for food almost every weekend. We decided to go to this restaurant, Tempura, as we wanted to eat pakistani cuisine and we heard about this place on the houston radio, Sangeet F. M, almost daily. Me and husband were so excited to try the place out, so we decided not to have breakfast on sunday and savour the much hyped about buffet. We reached the place at about 12:00 and we had no worries on waiting for free table. However the place was empty… strange and unusual thing for a sunny Sunday noon in our country. When you get in, there’s a man(the boss I think) and a waitress, both who do not care about what you need. He was not friendly at all and as about her, she had an unpleasant looking on everyone all the time. The place has bright colours minimal design and it looks clean and tidy. The menu has no certain speciality. So me and husband served ourselves, the not so exciting buffet and i went back to get some cutlery when i saw my husband just get up from eating his food. Then i came back to the table and to my horror saw a «roaches» crawl out of my food. Not one but two. Absolutely disgusted and sick looking at the hygiene of the food we went up to the guy who was at the counter to complain about what happened. His response«What can we do». No apology, not even walking up to our table to see what just happened, just a straight face saying«there’s nothing we can do about it if they come from outside». The waitress who did not care about what we needed till then comes up to the counter and tells the guy«Its not your fault. What could you have done». This the worst service we have experienced. Such bad food and horrible response. there was a family of 5 eating at the table next to us, of which 3 were children. Looking at them serve and dine was scary and sad as they did not know what they were eating. The service was absolutely disappointing. The waiters had extremely good mood… so good that they were dancing, they were yelling each other and they generally made fuss annoying us. In addition they could hardly notice us when we wanted something(water, the bill etc.). I could hardly think of circumstances under which diners would deserve this kind of treatment in ANY restaurant. Do not even think of trying this restaurant. Not worth anything. My next step is to report this to the food safety department because honestly judging by the reaction of the guy at the counter and the waitress they did not seem to care.

I have mixed feelings writing a review about this restaurant because their food during lunch time is worthy of five stars but every single time that I have been there for their dinner buffet it has been somewhat of a nightmarish experience. Disclaimer: I have only tried their buffet and not ordered from their menu so I cannot say anything about that. The first time I came here was with a group of people from work. It was extremely fresh and tasty. And the several next times the menu was as phantasmagorical as ever changing from the regular hot and sour soup, chicken corn soup, chicken 69 to having things like Lahori fish, potato cutlet, and biryani/pulao. Dinner, however, was a completely different story. Other than their Lahori fish, everything else at the buffet tasted extremely stale. The naan was burnt. The palak paneer looked like it had been sitting there for three days. The entire restaurant reeked of death. The cutlery, silverware, and the air smelt like somebody had taken a rag filled with rotten tomatoes and raw eggs and rubbed it in every molecule of it. I have had their food for catering and have been to receptions and those were all good. I think if they can keep up the same standards for dinner as they do for lunch and their receptions/catering, I believe they have the potential to become a 4 – 5 star restaurant.

Disclaimer: I had their food for a wedding event held at their party hall, so I have not tried everything on the menu; this review is solely for the food items that I did try. That particular night, we were served pakoras, daal, malai kabobs and rice. All was very average — not good nor bad — so maybe it was the lack of quantity, or just the food in general. The pakoras were very normal; the daal was nothing special; and the kabobs were definitely my favorite from the selection. I’ve heard many a good things about both Tempura Grill locations in Spring and Sugar Land, especially about their kabobs, so hope to give the food more of a try at some point. P. S. Probably my second shortest review, like… ever.

I’ve dined her on one occasion with the fam for my little cousin’s grad party. They rented out one of their banquet rooms. There was a buffet of food and the fam was in heaven. Our plates were piled high and we kept going back for seconds and thirds and perhaps fourths. I lost count. Other than that, we usually get catering for our big bashes at the casa. Tempura is great for this. They don’t skimp on potions, and as for extras — like onions, lime, ginger — they give you boatloads. You can never have enough lime on your haleem, ya know. As for what to order, if you’re not lucky enough to enjoy a buffet: *I seriously love their saag paneer. It’s the creamiest around — and with the perfect amount of spice. *Parata bread and naan are serve hot, fluffy and fresh. And don’t miss out on the hot Chai tea. *They have this barbecue that apparently is a «popular new dish» that I’ve never even heard of before — nor has my dad. It’s not chicken tikka. I *think* it’s Chicken Malai Boti. But I could be mistaken. Whatever it is, DO ask for it.
