I think the quality of sushi here is top notch. This is where we go for cuts of fish you just can’t find most places(except other top notch places). Chu toro, uni, Fresh sweet shrimp, and other specials make this place one of our favorites.

Every time I eat here, I feel like I’m in Japan. I love the sushi here, especially the tuna and salmon. No one else in Houston can make Katsu Don like they can. The staff is mainly Japanese so they actually know how to prepare good Japanese food.

So so so good! Superbly prepared fresh food at a reasonable price. I have been to Japan a few times and the food here is as you would expect to find there, and they have high standards!

This is a pre-visit rating just so that I can make a place to visit. The star are just the current average rating of this place and NOT my own rating — it is subject to change after I visit. Will try ramen.

Been here four or five times — the food and service are always very good. Had the spider roll, volcano roll, TNT roll and special roll of the day. The volcano roll was a little creamy with indistinct slices, but tasted good. The other three were very good. Always seem to be able to get a table promptly here. I’ll be back.

Having been to many sushi spots in Houston I have come to the conclusion that there are only three comparable to what you will find in an upper end shop in Tokyo. Simply put this is one of them. They have the best sashimi in town plain and simple. I’ve been here probably 4 or 5 times and every time the fish was of incredibly high quality and very fresh.

This place is okay… our server was nice and the ambiance is okay. My friend and I decided to come here for dinner since it’s close to our work. Our server gave us some recommendations for rolls to try and they weren’t that good. The portions are way small for what we paid. They do not have a happy hour but told they were having one starting next month. Rolls range from $ 10-$ 22 and hand rolls are about $ 6 – 7. Our bill for 2 people was about $ 135 before tip. We tried different rolls and ordered salmon sushi. I have tried lots of different sushi places to see which one can beat Miyakos’ sushi and prices… and I have yet to find one. If you’re okay with mediocre sushi you might be content with this place, but I most likely won’t be back.

The food was good but the prices are so high for the size! I’ve had sushi all over and I’ve NEVER ordered a $ 10 – 12 roll and only received 4 pieces. My fiancé and I ordered 3 rolls which is normally enough. We both left hungry after paying almost $ 40 for dinner. Ended up making a sandwich at home after– not the date night we planned. We live less than a mile from here but I’m not sure we will be back

Sushi Jin has great assortment of sushi, Japanese bento bowls/boxes, and appetizers. They have consistent great service and their food is quality! I’ve been here for both dinner and lunch and my tummy left happy each time. I’m enjoying what I’ve been eating here and it keeps me coming back for more. For lunch, my coworker and I each got the Express Bento Box which is a deal that is bombdotcom. You choose 2 dishes along with miso soup, salad and california rolls. Highlights: Sunrise roll was amazing taste of tempura shrimp, cream cheese with crab on top. Miso soup is always so good and heart warming. I got these don katsu-like things on skewers that were delicately fried and probably my favorite thing I ate today. Yakitori was standard chicken and veggies on skewers. Kobashira Kakiage was so deeply fried and delicious, but scallops were playing hide and seek and I never found them. Side note: it seems like some of their deep fried things are too fried(is there such thing in TX?) I still enjoy it, but something to note, because I only taste the batter and it’s the 2nd time this has happened. Regardless, I will come back to try more because overall the food is great.

The bento box here is an awesome value for lunch! You get tons of food for like 10.50. The service is rock solid and you can be in and out in under 30m if you’re in a time crunch(but keep in mind I went in after 1pm so not sure what the situation is for the actual 1200−100pm slot). I went ahead and got the tempura chicken/pork katsu(I think they call it something else though), with the miso soup and CA roll. What a great deal. I wish I were in the neighborhood again so I could try out more items off the menu!

It was pouring cats and dogs and the closest restaurant to where we were was this venue. For celebrating a bachelorette part, sushi Jin is probably not the most ideal dinner spot but luckily the girls were very tame and low key. We asked if we could use the sitting room but the hostess said it was an extra charge. Frankly I’d understand if it was an extremely busy night and they’d lose an opportunity to make money on and group coming in and paying to use the room but the likelihood of more patrons coming in to eat that potential flood night we came in on was very unlikely. So the hostess stuck us in the back near the karaōke room where 3 tables were put together to accommodate 8 of us. Everything that we had ordered was just disappointing and not worth the price point for some of the sushi rolls. My spicy salmon roll came in many tiny pieces and my friends scallop roll was no good. The udon noodle broth was flavorful but more on the salty side. I can’t remember what all the girls ordered but our overall impression is that we all left the restaurant starving and not satisfied with any of the rolls we ordered. I did appreciate them being able to a seperate checks which is always a plus when you’re in big groups. Would I consider coming back again? Not really especially when there are other higher quality sushi restaurants and comparable pricing in competition.

Sushi Jin is a great spot for good sushi at a decent price. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and has a surprisingly high capacity. The waitstaff is nice and the sushi selection is on par with other sushi places I’ve been to. The restaurant offers a couple of party rooms near the entrance closed off to the regular restaurant, which is nice. The sushi itself is good albeit, a bit small in portion size. The quality of the fish has been consistent both times I’ve been here. I tend to rate sushi places on a cost-to-quality ratio, and while Sushi Jin falls more heavy on the cost side, it’s definitely worth trying out.

Seriously the worst«sushi» we have ever had. Mushy, fishy and just plain not good. 3 basic rolls, 1 tiny salad and a ice tea @ $ 55 and we both feel like going to chickfila to get a sandwich to get full :-/ Really odd when you walk in and there is just no energy at all — no music playing, one other table. Just awkward and the food was really the worse sushi we have ever eaten. We won’t be back. 2 star only because the staff was polite otherwise 1 star at best Sadly, really it’s that bad.

Okay, let me begin by saying, this was our go to place for sushi in the area until our last visit. We have been going to Sushi Jin for almost a year now because their sushi was delicious, the atmosphere was clean and neat, and you seemed to get value for your money. Well, our last visit wasn’t all that great. Let me say that if I wanted to eat my meal in Romper Room, I would call Miss Maryann and hook up with her. There were babies and kids all over this place as if we were at a McDonald’s minus the play area. VERY noisy and disappointing. It was maddening. Then there was the food. We opted for the fried pork kabob appetizer. Uh, $ 6 for 2 measly skewers with 2 small pieces of shoe leather tough pork? I think not. Then the sushi. Well, as I mentioned, we have eaten there several times, and ordered 3 different full ‘rolls’ of sushi. We got one whole roll and 2 half rolls which we were charged for full rolls. They tasted good, but for $ 50+ we each had maybe 8 pieces of sushi each when there should have been much more for the price, and we didn’t order anything exotic or out of season. It was hugely disappointing. When asked if we wanted anything else, we opted to stop there and paid our bill and left. Upon our arrival home, we called and had a pizza delivered, we were that hungry. We are not food-a-holics or grossly overweight by any means, but to leave a restaurant hungry is seriously messed up. We will not return, and will hopefully find another sushi bar to visit.

When I was researching into Sushi Jin, I have heard the chef’s reputation of upholding the authenticity of the sushi cuisine to the strictest level. Certainly that is always the claim that almost every sushi restaurant would make, but I think you should take Sushi Jin’s seriously. Initially I walked in with skepticism, and after trying the sushi, I can vouch for this restaurant’s reputation of serving authentic sushi! My order was the 10-piece sushi dinner($ 25), which included six pieces of either Philadelphia or Rock and Roll and ten pieces of nigiri — chef’s choice so think of it as a mini omakase! While the roll was nothing to rave about, every piece of the nigiri sushi was spectacular. No matter which fish, no piece has a slight hint of it being frozen before, staying true to the restaurant’s promise of using only the freshest fish. Even the tuna, the most«basic» sushi but the best one that displays the chef’s skill in choice and preparation, did not fail to impress me. In short, one of the best sushi in Houston. Despite of its determination for authenticity, Sushi Jin’s menu still has the classic and speciality rolls for those who aren’t into nigiri. However the prices may be a bit higher for those who are not too crazed about sushi like me, and the nigiri pieces are much smaller than the competitors like Miyagi or the Blue Fish so Sushi Jin may take true obsession of sushi to fully appreciate. That being said, if you like sushi, you definitely should visit a Sushi Jin! — tl;dr version 1) Authentic sushi of only the freshest fish 2) One of Houston’s best sushi 3) Higher price and smaller piece may be turnoff for non sushi fanatic

Came here today for a late lunch. It was our first time here and I surprised at how delicious everything was! Great service. Japanese owned. Everything home made. Very fresh sushi. Good authentic flavors. — Udon broth was flavorful and comforting. — Gyoza(pork/scallions) was home made and not frozen. — Chopped scallop roll with wasabi tobiko was delicious and fresh. — One of the best Uni I ever had! Sweet and creamy. — Sushi rice was on point. — Home made condiments like momiji oroshi(spicy grated daikon) and grated fresh wasabi. Overall, great quality food. We will definitely be back!

This is one of the few Japanese restaurants that really owned by Japanese. The service was good and attentive. Food were great. All the fish I had were very fresh. Besides some fusion things on their menu, they also served some authentic Japanese dishes as well. I had a sake mojito and it was pretty good too! Overall, this is a good place to go for some real Japanese food in H town!

By far the best sushi in Houston. Why they have less than 5 stars on every review amazes me. I have been coming here nearly 20 years. Owner has import business that enables them to get some of the freshest fish you have ever had. They have a display aquarium for the shrimp they serve. They go from live to table fare in just minutes. It doesn’t get any fresher. Plus they are doing mixed saki drinks that are out of this world. Take your honey here and impress her.

Best sushi in Energy Corridor! Seriously, this place has the freshest fish. They fly it in daily and they cut the sashimi pieces so thick its like heaven. The combo deals are the best value. otherwise this place can be pricey. My boyfriend and I got the sushi lovers for 2 and it was tons of amazing nigiri and sushi for $ 52. That’s a great deal and we could barely finish it. This place also has lots of hot food options for the non sushi lover.
