Made reservation for group of 15. Caitlin was awesome at arranging and accommodating the group. They were very quick and efficient. Will definitely go back for future group events.

Made a reservation and didn’t get to sit down till 20 mins later. It took them 15 mins to come and ask us party of 15 for drinks. you would think they would have 2 servers for our table but there was only one. Management was unprofessional and rude. Never going there again.

Worst to-go experience to date. Arrived 25 minutes after ordering as instructed and food was not ready. There were 3 other to-go customers waiting as well and all of our orders ended up having to be corrected. The staff was friendly but this lack of organization and untimeliness has turned me off ordering to-go again from them.

Food is always consistent here. Unfortunately, they took BelaCreme Chardonnay and Smith and Hook Cab off of the wine list :( The replacements(Decoy and sonething else) don’t taste as good.

The staff is always welcoming and friendly. The food is prepared consistently well. I especially like the bread they serve, the house salad with balsamic vinaigrette is always fresh and I love the tangibles of the dressing. I like their green beans and the smaller Wagon Boss Steak is the perfect size for me.

Ironically, although my husband and I are native Houstonians who not only grew up in the area but still live in the area of this location(Memorial) he had never been here and I had only been here once approx. around their opening, some 30+ years ago and I was not obviously impressed. However, yesterday(Sunday after church, around 11:00am) we wanted a steak and a good salad… nothing fancy… but something more on the lines of a Steak and Ale(an old establishment from the 70’s, with the last one closing approx. 8 years ago) Good basic steak and fixings, that was reasonable and good, not a Sizzler and yet not so upscale as a Ruth’s Chris, plus open on Sunday for lunch, not at all easy to find. After exhausting all the usual steakhouses in this, the 4th largest city in the country, not to mention TEXAS, beef country; we had just given up and were going to go to the Mason Jar, when we saw, right next door Saltgrass Steak House and they were open! 99% of all other steak houses, if open at all on Sunday, did not open until dinner. We were thrilled. Not sure what to expect, we went in… the atmosphere is family friendly with the majority of the clientele being older which made for a quieter and calmer environment(more like an upscale restaurant, without the stiff or stuffy feel) We wondered why there seemed to be such mature clientele, not complaining, but definitely a trend in this location on this day… From the moment we walked in, the wait staff were attentive and friendly. We each ordered the filet(6 oz. and 9 oz.) cooked medium, house salads, I had seasonal veggies and my husband had the baked potato loaded. The food was prompt, very good and reasonably priced… we were so pleasantly surprised. The steaks were tender and cooked perfectly, although, if I had known they put extra butter on top I would have requested no butter, I did ask if cheese came on the house salad, and it did, so we were able to decline that. The seasonal veggies seemed actually fresh, a mix of broccoli, carrots and green beans, cooked but not mushy. As a garnish on the entrée plate, they serve shoestring fried onion rings, they were tasty but should have been warm. Throughout the meal, we were checked on, making certain we wanted for nothing. I asked for A-1 sauce, which came out with the steaks but the bottle was filthy. We were seated in a booth, which is next to a half wall, with a look through, OMG the dust was so thick, I asked the manager if it had snowed inside overnight. I graciously complimented his wait staff and their food but had to point out their cleanliness needed to be addressed. He was seemingly receptive. We will go back because of the good quality of the food at such reasonable prices, the outstanding service and their convenient location… We now know of a great neighborhood steak house, who is OPEN for lunch on Sundays!

Quick lunch menu items. They were tasty but the loaded taters were overly buttered, swimming in it so I didn’t eat much of it.

Every time we come to Houston we try to make a point of coming to Saltgrass. Tonight the service wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t the best either. Unfortunately my husband’s steak was medium rare instead of medium so we had to send it back. The waitress who took it back was informed that we wanted a new steak bc that steak had butter all over it, as well as had been cut multiple times(my husband was checking to see if it was cooked appropriately). It wasn’t until the manager came to apologize that we were told that they were putting the same steak back on the grill. Thankfully they understood and gave us a new steak after all. Overall the experience wasn’t horrible, but could’ve been much better.

I have always been a fan of Saltgrass and will always be a fan because of their complimentary honey wheat bread and honey butter, awesome Cesar/house salad, full bar, and baked potatoes. Yes, these are all the reasons I come here. Ironic, because non of them are meat, deal with it. Im not vegetarian only because every couple of months I do find myself craving a really good steak, but for the most part I don’t eat meat regularly. The ambiance, music, service, vintage southern Texas décor, like 10 different types of sweet tea they serve, this place is just TEXAS and like you have been transported to the rodeo. I just love it. I always have a good meal and good time when I come. The location on shepherd is really small and I don’t like that so if I am going to visit Saltgrass I always come to this location. I ordered the crab cakes, and a side baked potato hold the bacon and my meal was great. They weren’t the best crab cakes in my opinion and the sauce was a thick butter garlic sauce, reminiscent of mayo. I wasn’t a big fan, and probably won’t re-order it; however my fiancée loved them. My baked potato was on point and delivered tastiness! I stole half of my hubby’s Ceasar salad and it was so delish I should have ordered one. I recommend a salad for sure! Their blu cheese dressing is fantastic fyi. Hubby ordered a top sirloin(medium rare) and a baked potato, he loved it and always enjoy’s their steaks. It was cooked perfectly and looked yumo! I have ordered the prime rib many times before and it is fabulous! Super tender, and the Au Ju sauce is good enough to drink! You will love your visit here, guaranteed! The salad, drinks, and bread are enough reason to visit, well if your a wierdo like me anyway…

I walked into the restaurant and there was strong odor. I could not put my finger on the smell, like a sour smell, but not really. Like someone left a door open to a bathroom and the smell permeated the whole place. Restaurant is small. Staff was friendly. Started off with the wedge salad with blue cheese, tomatoes and bacon. It seemed that the salad must have been sitting in a refrigerator. Tomatoes were frigid, not just cold, almost freezing, not very tasty. Dressing was good. Very small bar area with sports on TV. Ribs were baked and finished on the grill with sweet BBQ sauce came with garlic mashed potatoes that were realy potatoes, thick and very chunky with potatoes. I would not go back due to that smell.

Went today for dinner. The location is kinda off set but in a busy area. For a Sunday evening it wasn’t very busy and we got seated pretty quickly. Our waiter Ricky was awesome; very attentive and not bad to look at lol! My mom really loved him because he thought that her and I were sisters(major brownie points). To drink we had strawberry lemonade, which was refreshing but not sweet enough had to add some sugar. I ordered baby back ribs with coconut shrimp, baked potatoe and a salad. My mom had the pork chop and a baked sweet potatoes. Everything was hot, fresh and tasted delicious. My shrimps were very fresh and the sauce that came with, I need the recipe! Great experience overall. I’ve been to some other locations that weren’t so great. I can definitely come back. Shoutout to Ricky lol!

Steak used to be much better. Porterhouse was kind of a disappointment this time. Salad was very normal. Appetizers are just ok. Couldn’t find their calories anywhere online and they’re a big chain. Waiter was friendly. Will I go back? Probably. Cheaper than steakhouse and way more casual.

Came here for happy hour and loved it! Great appetizers and cheap drinks. You can’t beat that! The bartender was attentive, and seemed very experienced when it came to «specialty» drinks. The Mexican martini was the bomb! If you’ve never had a Mexican martini you should definitely try one. It’s made with Tequila 1800 and includes diced jalapeño’s. Man it was good!!! When the workday is rough, don’t cheat yourself, treat yourself!

This place was pretty good. You walk in and there is a lodgey feeling. Deer heads and game are on the wall with country type decorations along side them. The first thing that we get are the sweet tea and water that came in cute water pitchers. It was cute. Their sweet tea is legit; nice and sweet. Their soup was«alright». I didn’t really enjoy it. I believe mine was like a steak soup. It tasted like a stew which was alright. The steak was good well seasoned and delicious. Unfortunately it was cooked to a medium(instead of the order of medium rare) but I kind of expected that. But the charring was nice and beautiful. This place is a good place to eat at. Although the service is slow the food was good.

This was my first time here. My server was very attentive. I drink a lot of water and she always managed to keep it filled. She was really nice and helpful. They give us this beer bread that was really gooddddd. Make sure you only ask for one or you’ll stuff yourself before your entrée… We got two… I got the 9oz sirloin with sweet potato fries. I’m not a huge fan of steak cause it’s a slab of meat in my eyes so this was good for me. I got it medium and it was cooked to my liking. They give a lot of fries, it was a bit sweet though but nothing Tabasco ketchup won’t fix! The steak came with a side of salad or soup as appetizer. I hate salad because it’s worthless. Got the steak soup, that tasted like beef stew. My bf got the baked potato soup, tasted like it sounds. Salty and cheesy. Could not finish my food at all and I’m usually the one to make people eat everything to not waste. Fed my bf at least 1⁄3 of my steak too. That bread did it. So good but too filling.

This was my first visit to this location. We arrived a little after 8PM so the place wasn’t crowded and we were able to get a table immediately. The service was great from the moment we sat down. I opted for a ribeye medium rare and a wedge salad with no other sides. The salad was perfect chilled lettuce wedge with diced tomatoes, bacon and bleu cheese crumbles topped with a balsamic and ranch mixed dressing it was really good. The steak was a 16 oz mammoth cut extra lean, tender and topped with a scoop of butter that melted into the steak juices which gave it a great flavor profile. I’ve eaten at several of these restaurants and this location is one of the best experiences from the Saltgrass chain I’ve had to date. This definitely deserves a bookmark. The prices are reasonable and a good value I definitely recommend this place for a stop when your hungry for a nice steak in a casual atmosphere.
