It’s probably the best pupuseria near me! Service is great and truly one of a kind. It is best to call in and pick up your order, they give you an accurate wait time. :)

The wait is usually always pretty long. It’s best to phone in an order then go and pick it up. The bean and cheese is my favorite. It’s just so good. They don’t skimp out on the cheese like some places do. We really love this place.

I wish the others that wrote a review could taste a real pupusa. What I took my Salvadorian mother in law to yesterday was far from it. Greasy and favorless. The cheese was low quality and quite frankly, unidentifiable. Even the basic hand forming of the pupusa after placing the filling was done wrong. The curtido(cabbage) had a weird bland taste and the hot sauce was odd as well. Maby I had high expectation for this place, or maybe my mami is correct, making pupusa is an art. Pupuseria Emanuel is far from art, more like 3AM bar food gone wrong.

WOW. Authentic, delicious and cheap tasty bites for the fat kid inside me. It has the«hole-in-the-wall» feel to it, no decorating here. Like many similar establishments, the food is what really what sells. We ordered one of each kind of pupusa so we could decide which one we prefered. Using our botched spanish, we made the lady laugh providing entertainment for the night as well as ordered our food! I made it through two, chicken and cheese, before I was too stuffed to try the rest. The buttery flavor surrounding the masa starts your tongue off right only to be followed with the molten cheese-filled middle. The cabbage itself was mild and delicious, however, mixed with the sauce was spicy and perfect. This is truly a local place that Houstonians would keep a secret from outsiders, yet share with friends willing treat their taste buds.

After driving past Pupuseria Emanuel’s bright blue building many times, I’m glad we finally stopped. Nothing fancy here, but the food is the real deal. The pupusas are great, as were the maduros. Food is served in plastic trays with paper liners and the fixings come from communal tupperware containers. You can sit outside or in the semi-enclosed side porch. If you can’t speak Spanish it might be a bit out of your comfort zone, but it’s worth a stop.

This place is amazing. These are the kind of pupusas your grandmother would’ve made if she made pupusas. The curtido is great & crunchy.
