I have been going to phở vang since 1990! No other Vietnamese comes close! A lot of Vietnamese restaurants have started to skimp on their egg rolls but not this place! I will make the drive to this location for them alone! Wonton soup, egg noodles, spring rolls, beef duck chicken and snowpeas are all great! This is a newer location, they moved from a few exits further out and same great food and service!

Best Vietnamese place I’ve ever been to in the US. I’ve been to many Houston restaurants and New Orleans Vietnamese restaurants. Its very no frills, no non-sense great food.

F-ing horrible waiter. Specifically said I’ll take the #1…pointed at the picture! !!! The waiter brought something different my wife even said«that’s not what you ordered!» The Dumbass waiter had the nerve to argue with us and then proceed to inform us that we didn’t order correctly. Never once offered to bring what we requested or even if we wanted something different. Never came back to wait on us or even bring the check. i actually had to go up and ask to pay. even though I never touched the bullshit they brought me. Then had to go pay to eat somewhere else that actually served what I asked for! If you go here point at the item you ordered, then make sure the Dumbass reads it back to you!

I first visited this place on a Tuesday about 1PM. I ordered and the food was VERYGOOD ! As I looked around I noticed just a few customers it was 115 in the afternoon. I thought why is the place that is SO good have and have a quietness to it? I thought well now that I’m living in Oak Forrest(290) I have found a replacement(Van Loc) closed downtown on Milam. Today is Wed(yes I went back) BUT this time it was 1215 lunch time AND ‚… THEPLACEDWASPACKED. People waiting to get in. I was pleaseg ! The staff was very very friendly which is always nice This place is a MUSTGOTO if you appreciate Vietnamese food ! I would give this establishment 8 stars

Good place to go if you’re craving phở. The broth was good and the price was very low. I wish they had more meat but was pleased with the food. That could be how they keep the prices so low. Would return but would ask for extra meat.

Umm, I read some of the bad reviews and I think it’s user error. This is a phở spot that I’ve been eating at since I was a teen. It’s consistently good phở with a lt of flavor. Don’t think that you will get excellent service because you probably won’t. Who cares about the service when your eating fried Vietnamese egg rolls and combo beef phở?! I don’t

If I could give no stars, that’s what I would give them. We usually have company dinners from them & the food is good but the service I received just now was absolutely unacceptable. We placed a large order & asked for the total at the end, the employee was extremely rude and said«idk, I don’t have time to add it up I am very busy.» I then told him he could put me on hold I could wait. He then said«No, if u have a menu you can add it up yourself» Mind you I was not rude at all & to receive this was very upsetting. I asked to speak to his manager & asked for his name, he again told me NO& hung up on me. Their phone has been off the hook & it has been 10 min since our conversation. It’s kinda funny bc this place is never busy. Every time we pick up there is never customers inside. So sad that they lost our business. We were regulars but we will find a new Vietnamese place for us.

I wish I could give negative stars… I came to Houston from CT on a business trip. Arrived at my hotel late and hungry. Looked up on Unilocal to see what was good around the area. Because most of the Unilocalers had given more than 3 stars, I gave it a shot. Holy moly the food was nasty. So nasty I only took 5 bites, the last 3 bites I was thinking that for some magical reason it would start tasting better. I guess I prefer Vietnamese Connecticut style. Or any other non-nasty style served anywhere else on Earth. I had 2 bites of sweet and sour pork, two bites of egg roll and one bite of rice. The steamed rice was good and for that reason they got one star from me. And I’m not a picky eater. Imagine if I was… This is my first Unilocal review. I felt I had to let the world know just how bad this place was. I’m very sorry for the locals if that’s what they think is good food.

The phở is mediocre. They delivered my food, and when I came back from the restroom they had taken it away. I had barely even touched it, and left my coat and everything. One star for bad service. There are better phở places in the area.

Love love love eating here! We only come during our lunch breaks(1hr) and we are able to drive here(7min) and order, eat and drive back and still be on time! Best Vietnamese food ever, best egg rolls in town. Their ingredients are fresh and always served HOT! I have eaten at different Vietnamese restaurants and here, the menu is so extensive, so many options to choose from! Their staff is always super extra nice, even when we(party of 2 – 10) pay, they split the check without any problems.

For being right off the freeway and in a relatively random area, the phở is not too bad. Not too high in MSG, the rice paper rolls were good. The prices are pretty well set. It’s great for large parties, came here with a party of 14 for lunch 11:30 — 12:30. A few other tables, but they had a great service in our orders and food! The décor of the restaurant does seem to have a more trendy feel? It’s more dimly lit and decorated as if they cater more to dinners than a lunch-like place. The space is very large and it seemed pretty clean.

Finally came to check out the new location. Had the spicy lemon grass chicken and egg roll vermicelli bowl… AMAZING!!! So flavorful & huge portions. Hit the spot. Egg rolls are delicious too.

Gave them a 2nd chance and I officially wont be back. There was a huge roach crawling up the wall. Aside from that I noticed the guy behind the counter drop some of the«clean» silverware on the floor, then pick it and put it back in the pile like nothing. That’s just plain disgusting. I won’t be coming back for sure!

Great food. The price was right, the portion was right and the service was good. The food came out fast and their were plenty of seating and parking. Highly recommended. They have extensive menu so you can go there for a month and not have the same thing. Will be going back again sooner than later.

Pretty good food compared to the dozens of other phở/Vietnamese restaurants I’ve eaten ate. I have tried the phở, dry vermicelli, egg rolls, spring rolls, and grilled pork rice plate here; all pretty tasty. They get an extra star for having a very extensive menu. More than most other phở noodle shops.

I haven’t been to this place in a while, it used to be my favorite place for gumball o’clock. I was in the area and stop by today and order that and the egg rolls. The egg rolls were one hot greasy mess literally oil dripping from the plate. The beef was not as good as I remembered it which was a disappointment. But I must say the worst of all was the service. I ask for jalapenos and they looked at me like I was crazy, I ordered a drink with soda water and it came out flat and I asked the waiter to redo it and he looked at me and said that was it. He wouldn’t redo it, it showed me a bottle that was half empty and said that was a social water that was used. I definitely don’t think I will be coming back. It also appears that they have changed ownership since the last time I was here that may have contributed to the mess that happened today

Second time here and i am still such a noob when it come to Vietnamese food. I was literally given instructions on how to eat the egg rolls. At least this time I didn’t eat the fish sauce like soup! In any case I ordered BBQ pork and fried Rice… um no. I ordered BBQ pork fired rice. So i doused it with chili paste and had a great lunch. Once i get this figured out I may have to up the stars!

Today’s visit was horrible. Been here several times in the past and was good. First, the egg rolls lacked any flavor other than grease. I ordered #155 which was a pork dish and they brought me #154 which was a fish dish. The dish takes 20 – 25 minutes to cook so at this point it’s already been about thirty minutes so I tell them to cancel my order because I don’t have another 20 – 25 minutes for them to cook the correct dish. Five minutes later as my coworker was finishing his food they bring me the #55… Still not the correct dish so I send it back and I pay for my two egg rolls and the cashier is joking with me about the confusion between #155 and #55. After today’s visit they lost me as a customer.

Every phở place I go to, I usually get their rice dish. The one I got had pork, eggs, and egg cake. The food was not too bad and the service was great. It seems like any other phở place to me food quality wise, but the atmosphere was spacious and they had a bigger selection of foods to choose from.

No matter where we(my bf and I) go, phở vang 2 will always be the best phở restaurant in town. We are not phở experts, but we love to try new phở places and places that we have never been to. Let’s start with their eggrolls, it’s so amazing and delicious and their prices are so so so hard to beat. Their food are amazing and the prices are even better ! That’s why I love this place ! Great food, great service, and during football season, they actually plays it on tv. Man I freaking love this place. My bf and i live on bellaire, which is the opposite side of town, with different phở restaurants at every corner. But we would always drive to 290 for phở vang 2. Love this place ! And the workers are super friendly !!

Alright, I took some time pouring through the reviews for some Houston phở suggestions and came across this place with some fairly consistent positive feedback. Mind you, this is my first time actually staying in Houston and wasn’t sure about foodie quality and/or what levels of expectations there might be from a local perspective. As for some of the more negative comments… I wouldn’t lend much credibility to them, cuz they just don’t know what they’re talking about. As a matter of fact, a bunch of low scores were due to Viet ignorance and not being prepared for what Viet culture and/or smells are when visiting a Viet joint. So, stupid people leaving stupid comments… That said, I went with the seemingly popular egg rolls and just wanted to vet the real dealy for myself as to hype or crap?! I must say, solid rolls for real. They are very tasty and they are fat, crispy and a bit greasy… but, you know what? They’re fried egg rolls people… grease is bound to get caught up in the folds and nooks of a FRIED egg roll. So, instead of griping about your lack of understanding and appearing stupid, solve the problem… use a napkin to sop up the extraneous grease man. Seriously… learn to dine out a bit and create a work around. Try an egg roll people, they were good with fresh accompaniments to dip into the sweet chili fish sauce. So, grip and dip the roll, the lettuce and the carrots! Secondly, I tried the salty lemon soda… holy crap. This was also a nice treat. I didn’t see it mentioned in any review and its a bit steep for a souped up lemonade, but damn yummy! Lastly, my main course was the duck egg noodle soup… rich and exquisite flavors danced all over my tongue. I wanted to French kiss the crispy duck sopped with the fat enriched broth. As a matter of fact, I think I did French kiss that poor little duck as it rolled around my palette. So, go figure. For those of you that just like to stick to basics, they had your standard phở with beef, vermicelli bowls and fried rice. Me, I enjoy the fringe portions of the menu and really like what the local culture prefers in terms of their diet preference. But, if you like it «safe» and Americanized, then perhaps Viet, Korean and Thai cuisine just aren’t for you… but, you don’t have to slam it if you don’t know what you’re getting into either… you sound like fools. Also, the location must have been newer compared to some of the older reviews, cuz this was mainly all up to date, clean and large… not sure where they originally had the restaurant, but, this place was adequate and they treated me nicely for supper. Good luck and try this place out… I only spent $ 12 for all of the above. Not bad man, quit your bitchen or just stick to that crappy chain panda place. Baldy

Marking my 250th review to my beloved Phở Vang 2. What a difference! They moved to a new location with bigger parking lot, bigger dining room and better fengshui. The ingredients are fresher and flavors are authentic. You won’t break your bank by eating here. I have more respect for Phở Vang 2 than ever. I spoke to one of the owners as they took over a disco bar. Watch out for that Cadillac! It may roll off as you approach the cash register. They have a secluded area to accommodate lunch crowd in their second dining room. It’s a lot of fun to eat my phở while imagining where each disco element was from. I crave for Phở Vang at least twice a month or more often in colder days. I literally want to try every dish here as you’ve seen all my photos and videos(on app only).

If you are in need of a cash advance, bail bond, prepaid phone, or really low cost insurance and also happen to be hungry on the northwest side of town, definitely stop by Phở Vang. Yes, the tiny shopping complex is sketchy. Yes, the place is a little dingy. Yes, the egg rolls are huge. And yes, the phở is pretty good. The biggest surprise was that they had mi vit quay(roasted duck noodle soup) and banh xeo(savory crêpe) on the menu, amongst other traditional Vietnamese dishes. I’ve only had these at home from my mom so it was a pleasant surprise. I got the banh xeo which is a pan fried crêpe thing usually stuffed with bean sprouts, boiled pork & shrimp, onions, and mung bean. I would give their banh xeo a 3.5÷5. It was huge, the batter was fried to the right crispness, and it wasn’t too thick. It didn’t get 5 stars because it was missing mung bean, the pork was seared rather than boiled which overpowered, and some key complementing veggies were missing. Overall, I was pleased. The egg rolls are fat mostly because of the wrapper. It was fine. Reminiscent of Mai’s. the phở broth tasted light which was nice but was a little oily.
