1st time here and everything was fabulous. Salmon was cooked and seasoned to perfection along with vegtables. Fried Catfish was probably the tastiest I’ve ever had. The coleslaw is also possibly the best I’ve ever had. And the Sweet-potato-pecan pie was tasty as well. The staff was friendly and helpful too.

My wife and I visited for lunch on 6⁄5. Ordered onion rings for appetizer, OMIGOSH, the portion is huge & they were scrumptious! They came with a spicy sauce that was spot on good! I had chicken fried steak, also very good and the portion will feed me for a couple of leftover meals. Pappas has really stepped up their game with this restaurant.

2nd time here and just as amazing as the first. We had dinner at a high end chain last weekend and spent almost $ 300 for two, but this at Papas Meat Co is better!

This place makes one of the best salads I’ve ever had! If you go order the grilled chicken Cobb salad, the battered greens mixed with the bacon vegetables and grilled chicken yummmmm! I work nearby so I order it to go. I also enjoyed the Pork chops with the mashed potatoes.

Ribeye and sirloin were decent, slightly salty, but not the best I’ve had. They were cooked as requested but didn’t have a hint of being aged or a high quality meat. Affordable combos but some dishes were a bit off, the roasted carrots tasted frozen and the green beans were doused wih butter. The baked potato was the best dish there.

The wait staff and overall experience from the time we came through the door was enjoyable. The menu was limited on diversity but it made up for it in flavor We had the Shrimp and Spinach Fondue and the Crab cakes, absolutely delicious. The rolls we warm soft and yummy. Will definitely be back.

Delicious food with even better service. I had then chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. The breast was golden brown crispy with a light country gravy on top. It didn’t blow my mind away in taste or portion size(I had the lunch option), but definitely worth a return trip. The only thing better than the food was the service at this place. I always try not to exaggerate these reviews, but I have to say WOW. Samuel our server was the friendliest guy I have ever encountered. Some service I’ve gotten before from servers is that of «I just want to go home». This young man is just a people person. I even told him he was great at what he did to which he responded«I just like what I do and love talking to people». This guy should be training servers for Pappas. Glasses kept full, great recommendations, and speedy service. Maybe he’s a reflection of the leadership because even the manager, Sarah, came out to talk to us a bit. It seemed like she cared whether we had a great experience. In any case, ask for Samuel next time you dine, he’ll make the experience that much better with his prompt service and positive attitude. Plus there’s good southern food on the menu that’s hard to find in Houston.

Delicious new Pappas concept. We went for dinner last night and had their special called the Wildcatter. It’s offered Mon-Thurs for 29.95 a person. It includes a soup of salad, 13 oz ribeye or NY Strip with 1 side and a dessert. I had the ribeye. So full of flavor. I had macaroni. The macaroni did lack flavor though. My only other complaint would be that everything came out so fast. We did not have a chance to enjoy our soup because the entrée came about 2 minutes after.

Went here with a group of friends for restaurant week: French onion soup: Delicious! Love Gruyère cheese! Nice balance of flavor, very filling. NY strip: My first steak was cooked perfectly(I asked for Med rare), but it was really saty which made it hard to enjoy. I told the waiter about it and he looked unsure of what to do with the salty steak(most likely his first time serving) thankfully, the manager came buy and offered to replace the steak. The second steak tasted way better, perfect. I gave it 4 stars for the service. But I would probably not drive all the way there again unless I’m in the area. A bit too far from where I live.

Just recently visited this location tonight. For starters the hostess was very polite she allowed us to pick our own seating. Once we sat down unfortunately we waited 15 minutes & after returning to the hostess stand before our waiter arrived. The strawberry lemonade is amazing as well as the cesar salad. I was also able to pick my tbone steak out of the case. Once it arrived it still had the metal cattle tag which was a bit unnerving. But it was tasty. Eventually the waiter apologized for such a long wait and we were offered desert.

If you live on the East side of Houston, then Pappas Meat Company might be a good destination for you to enjoy some delicious steaks. However, be reminded that although this restaurant carries the Pappas name, don’t confuse this steakhouse with the ever famous Pappas Bros.Steakhouse. The steak selections at the Pappas Meat Co. are USDA choice as opposed to the Prime steaks offered at Pappas Bros. I ventured all the way to the East side of town just because this restaurant participated in the Houston Restaurant Weeks so I figured I’d give it a try. We made a reservation for 8:30 pm on a Friday night and we didn’t actually get seated until around 8:50 pm. The hostess said that the customers sitting at what would be our table stayed longer than expected. However we noticed that there were plenty of empty tables around. The problem wasn’t that the customers lingered, it was more of the fact that they didn’t have enough waitstaff for the night. If you’ve been to Taste of Texas, then you’d know there’s a waiting area with free chips and free fountain drinks. They do have a wait area(both inside and outside). However, don’t expect any free chips or fountain drinks here. Once seated, our waiter came pretty quickly and he was actually a delight for a waiter. I expected great service and I received excellent service. Too bad I don’t remember his name or otherwise I would totally mention it on here. He was very helpful, funny, and he checked on us plenty. He didn’t screw up our orders either, so that’s a plus. The free bread that comes with dinner? Super good. It’s very good to the point that I could have filled myself up on bread and butter and wouldn’t have room for steak. I seriously had to stop myself from eating anymore bread, it was THAT good. Now as for the meals, since I was here for Restaurant Weeks, I opted to start with the French Onion Soup, followed with the Ribeye Steak, and to finish with Sweet Potato Pecan Pie. Other family members of mine also ordered Caesar Salad, Baked Potato Soup, and Filet Mignon so I was able to have a taste of those as well. As for the Onion Soup, although it was good, I thought it was just a tad too sweet. If you’re a fan of FOS, I think you might like this. The baked potato soup, on the other hand, I thought was delicious. I should have gone with that instead. As for the Caesar Salad, my brother in law though that it might have been the best Caesar Salad that he’d ever had. I thought it was just your typical Caesar Salad but hey, everybody’s tongue is different, right? As for my Ribeye, it wasn’t bad at all. But it wasn’t super good either. It was cooked right, but I personally think the Ribeye that I could get for $ 12 at the Hideaway on Dunvale on Tuesday nights was better than this. And this steak cost so much more than $ 12. As for dessert, my pecan pie was also plenty average. I thought the pecan pie from The Flying Saucer was so much better. I also tried the Chocolate Cream Pie and that wasn’t too bad either. I personally can’t think any reason why I should drive all the way to this side of town in the future. The Hideaway is much closer to me and it won’t break my pocket like this place would. Granted that the Hideaway doesn’t offer desserts, there are plenty of places near me that would satisfy my sweet tooth. If you live close to here and you want some pretty good steak and don’t mind the wait to get seated, then come here. Check it out. But if you don’t live anywhere near here, safe the trip and find something closer.

I really had a great meal at Pappas. My group started with appetizers of fried green tomatoes and the fried mushrooms. I wasn’t a fan of the mushrooms but the tomatoes were pretty good. I also started off with a French onion soup which was great. We also, foolishly, ordered some bread, so by the time our steaks came I was stuffed! That being said, my NY strip was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I ordered it medium and it came out a little rare, which is actually better for the cut. It was great. I could only eat about half of it, but I wanted to keep going. For desert I had the cheesecake. It was moist and everything you could really ask for in a cheesecake. In summary, average appetizers but just awesome steaks. They have a pretty decent liquor selection as well, but they strangely don’t really advertise it, they push the cocktails… Enjoy!

We went for Houston Restaurant Week with a party of 9. We were greeted and seated at a large round table which worked out well so we could all be facing eat other. The dining room can be a bit noisy when full but that did not stop us from having a good time. The place looks pretty new and falls in line with the typical Pappas décor. According to our server they have been open since October 2014. From the HRW Menu I ordered First Course: Caesar Salad w/o cheese — it was a little heavy with the dressing, I should have asked for it on the side. Second Course: 17oz Ribeye — rare w/baked potato(fixings on the side). My steak was cooked to order, tender, juicy and well seasoned Third Course: Sweet Potato Pecan Pie — ice cream on the side — a giant piece… it was the best of both Sweet Potato and Pecan pies morphed into a taste sensation. Service: very friendly and accommodating. Our server was very patient and answered all of our questions. Parking: plenty of self parking Dining Room: A good size and can accommodate several large parties. There is also a bar area, small outside patio and party room. Tip: If you are particular about your cut of steak, you can pick out your own from the meat counter/display case. I will be back. Rating for overall experience.

Good ambiance and service. Overall I thought this iteration of the Pappas brand is good, not stellar. Service was great — attentive and personable. A hallmark of all Pappas restaurants. We started out with appetizers: cornmeal coated fried green tomatoes, spinach dip with tortilla chips and also fried mushrooms. Hot, fresh and nothing tasted oily. Two of us split the dinner size portion of the chicken fried chicken(CFC) and just added an additional side of mashed potatoes(which I didn’t care for and after a few bites, left them there). It was more than enough food even for a hearty appetite like mine. The broccoli was fresh and cooked perfectly. The CFC was good, batter was light and crispy and cooked to perfection. I thought the brown gravy served on the side was just alright(sorry, but I still think Texas Roadhouse has perfected this dish). It was too thin and overly-salty. Speaking of salt: this restaurant has a very heavy hand on the salting of their dishes. I had a bit of my sister’s steak, my mother’s bone-in ribeye and another sister’s chicken fried steak. All were salty. Really salty. It wasn’t a deal-breaker, but you should be warned that you will be asking for a lot of water during and after the meal. Even a day after this meal I feel bloated and thirsty. The dinner rolls are large, fluffy and armed just right. They are served with a generous helping of real butter. All in all I enjoyed the restaurant and the ambiance. The service was excellent, food was good, and it had spotless bathrooms. I, Mr. Miser himself, even thought the prices were decent for the portion sizes and other amenities. Rating: Good. However, in a city like Houston, I have lots of other ‘great’ choices. I cannot see returning.

Started with basics since this is a new restaurant. For starters Fried Green Tomatoes with Remoulade Sauce. This was tasty not really in my favorite foods but my boyfriend loves it. We split the Chicken fried steak, loaded Baked potato, and Ceasar Salad. The portions are huge we ate and had enough left to carry out. The CFS was crunchy and tender. Nothing more write about with other sides just salad and baked potato. Never understood why restaurants don’t pay better attention to how they serve Baked potatoes. I am giving 4 stars due the cost for bread that was just average. Normally, bread is complementary but here it is not. Funny since other Pappas establishments offer bread or chips when u dine in. Ask to be seated in Kaylan’s area she was very nice and attentive.
