First thing: Do Not order the Luann as it is a child’s plate or order it for a child only, or a very small adult. I had heard the rave about this and when the lady served it up I said — «Wait a minute…» No Way! I am an adult who was hungry with an appetite. She said — «No problem» and I proceeded to get a meal for a man. I had the chicken fried steak with cream gravy, green beans, macaroni and cheese — some of the best I have ever had — mashed potatoes with gravy with a roll and butter and some chocolate pie and iced tea with lemon. And it was great all ways. This place is expensive though, folks. You can get a steak at many places for what you pay here for just basic house food — be forewarned, and there is no alcohol served, either. A great place to eat lunch on your lunch time from work — count on it being over an hour as the wait time in line is quite long — but I would not take a girl here on a date night. An extended lunch due to the wait time in line only.

Been coming to this Luby’s for decades, since I was a kid. Now that I don’t live in HOU, the desire to come back here often arises when I’m back in town for a visit. I don’t know what has changed more over the years — my palate or the quality here — but I can’t say I enjoy Luby’s it as much as I used to. Still, it’s not a bad option when you’re in the mood for a cafeteria style setup where you can eyeball everything and have TONS of main courses, sides, salads, breads, & desserts from which to choose. I wanted ranch dressing to go along with my fried okra and was told by one server that they were out. Another server, however, overheard the exchange, double-checked, and confirmed they didn’t have any regular ranch but asked if light ranch would do. I said«yes» and very much appreciated her taking the time and effort to track that down for me and make me happy. Our server Tiffany(sp?) was attentive without being too intrusive. The place was adequately busy for lunch on a Thursday but wasn’t as packed as the last few visits I’d made on weekends. The food was tasty enough and well prepared but didn’t wow me. Still, I don’t want to be too harsh because I realize that Luby’s isn’t a gourmet restaurant or a place designed to cater to foodies as much as it is to people who want the feeling of having a home-cooked meal. I still think Luby’s is a safe bet and, thus, would come back again in the future.

This use to be my favorite Luby’s. The food was decent and I would stop here for quick meals. Today we tried the breakfast. Not my choice but I was being treated Cons This place is nasty. The booths, the window ledges, and carpets have not been cleaned in long time. Food was cold Pros Butternut Brownie is back. This was one a must have back in the day.

Typical cafeteria food. With that said, people come here for the ‘home cooked’ menu and the people. There’s always friendly staff, who are attentive. Other than that, this place is a little worn. The carpet smells like ‘old’ and a little musty. They recently added a Fuddrucker’s burger joint to this existing building, and they have great burgers. Good for home cookin and a fast meal.

The experience at this location was great. Even though this was a breakfast buffet the wait staff seem to be very helpful. The food presentation and taste was wonderful. The price is unbeatable. That selection of breakfast for 5 or 6 bucks is something to talk about. I think the breakfast buffet could be considered brunch as well. The had salad and and things like chilli pie as part of the buffet. YES, i will try this buffet in Katy.

Hunger makes you do a lot of things you probably wouldn’t do – like eating at a place that does not have clean utensils! People were friendly enough and patient as I dined with my eldest auntie this particular day. Inside a little drab, needs an update badly with a fresh coat of paint and a little scrubbing on the floors, but hey it’s Luby’s. You don’t come for the ambience, you come for the food The food, by the way, use to be really reasonable being that it’s cafeteria style dining. For the prices you pay at Luby’s you could go to a real sit down dining location where you have your order taken at your table. At Luby’s you have wait staff who come by and check on you and see if you need anything, which is nice, but then I feel obligated to tip them if they bring me anything or are just downright courteous. What really got to me is that my aunt is almost 80 years old and we missed the Senior Special that lasted until 2:30(we arrived around 2:45). I don’t know of any place in Texas that does not offer a senior citizen discount. All Senior Citizens don’t go back to their homes at 2:30. Some live very active lives and may want to dine at 5 instead of 2:30. Anyway, that kind of got next to me that Luby’s doesn’t offer that to people, so here goes another restaurant on my banned list. I have much love and respect to my senior citizens. In fact, I believe I will write a letter about the lack of a more unlimited senior citizen discount. McDonald’s does it, heck, Mrs. Baird’s Outlet Bakery has one day a week for Senior citizens. Luby’s is not hurting that bad that they cannot give our senior citizens a better discount program!

I was unbelievably starving so I chose to ignore it. 30 minutes and half a chicken fried steak later I found a HAIR cooked inside the batter of my chicken fried steak. Spool disgusting. They wouldn’t even refund us our money. WILLNEVEERGOBACK!!!

Noticed Luby’s chain of restaurant are pretty popular in Texas. So we decided to try it out. Food is OK, not great. Just your normal cafeteria style type of food. Seems you need to wait in line longer than you should. Also they tend to run out of food?
