pappas always good service and clean, so in a mostly industrial area where not much to eat outside of roach coaches and fast food can guarantee a decent quality meal and good service experiance but was not impressed much with the menu, fried shrimp were frozen/imported, had to be fine enough for a business lunch if have meetings in the area, pappasitos is on the other side of the freeway, i find that the cantina has better food, but either way can place safe belt on any papas chain to deliver a professional experience

Eat at this place many times, but not really impressed much. I usually come here when someone else is paying. Today, I tried the appetizer trio. The allegator meat tasted odd. I had to put the fondue sauce to cover up the taste. Love the fondue sauce though. The fried oyster is not really crunchy. I felt like it sits there for awhile before being served. For the high price, I wouldn’t expect more.

They are changing over to be Pappadeaux’s. We went there just for the clam chowder and they no longer carry it. Their menu has changed!!!

We love this place. The shrimp gumbo, cheesy garlic bread, and shrimp salad are our favorites. When we’re really famished, we order the lobster Cobb salad, seafood platter, and key-lime pie. Their sweet tea is great. Sometimes, we ask the waitress for recommendations. Never found 1 that we didn’t like! Service is awesome!

We came here for my mother in laws birthday on Saturday evening. It was a full house and the waiter provided exceptional service. He continued to bring out fresh bread for the table, refilled our drinks constantly and apologized to me for the kitchen staff screwing up my order. I don’t understand how hard it is to prepare a fish that’s on the menu. I’m sure other folks order the Alaskan Halibut Piccata and they should be use to making it. This was not the case at this location. Our server repeated our order back to us correctly. so in my experience of waiting tables in the past, I’m sure since he repeated it back correctly, that’s how he entered it in the POS screen. My halibut arrived without the lemon butter sauce, capers, lemon slices and jumbo lump crabmeat. The fish was plain as day. The waiter attempted to apologize and informed me it would be a few minutes. Twelve minutes later my sauce arrived. My fish cold. My mood, very cranky. There is a big difference when the pan-grilled fish is covered in sauce the minute it is pulled from the grill and onto the plate. Then there is the instance where the pan grilled halibut is sitting out on a plate for 12 minutes and the lukewarm sauce arrives. The texture, taste and consistency is different. For a $ 32.95 entrée that lacks care and consideration it was a waste of money and should not have been served the way it did. Granted it was busy, I would’ve preferred they took it back to the kitchen and voided it off the check. Something that horrible should’ve not been allowed to even happen. I can’t believe Pappas Seafood, a large establishment in Texas with a long standing name that stands by exceptional food would even hire a kitchen staff to half ass an order like this. I’m beyond disappointed. The waiter attempetd to rectify the situation by providing a free dessert of our choice. Again, it was not his fault, but I don’t think I would ever return here. A dessert can’t compensate for such a crappy over priced meal. If you’re big on fish like I am, take my advice: pay higher price for quality seafood at Truluck’s. You can never go wrong there.

Good and courteous service. The food was okay but not excellent. They did not have the kids menu but they did bake a tilapia for my son. Texas red fish was a little greasy, the jambalaya rice did not taste fresh. Gumbo was bland and tasted a little fishy. However spinach dip and garlic toast was really good. I would come back to this place for the spinach dip

Service was very bad. The waiter forgot most of our orders, didn’t bring silverware, had to be prompted for refills, and so forth. Food was equally disappointing. Ordered the half po-boy with a cup of crawfish bisque. Crawfish were very fishy tasting and the consistency of the bisque was very watery. Po-boy wasn’t terrible but the shrimp were gummy which is always off putting. One of the guys who ate with us got sick shortly after lunch which is never a good sign. I’ve had good experiences at other Pappas locations. Just have to be careful on which you pick apparently.

Don’t order the crawfish. I live in North Louisiana and used to live in New Orleans, so I guess I’m spoiled on crawfish. I went to Pappa’s Seafood House right in the middle of crawfish season expecting wonderful things. I hadn’t had them all year. First of all, the waiter was very nice, but he took FOREVER to bring me a glass of wine. Like twenty minutes, and they weren’t even busy. I went there specifically for the crawfish. I figured that Houston restaurants should be pretty good at cooking them, and they’re close enough to crawfish country to get good, big ones. And they were. The crawfish, uncooked, were great. But then the chef got his hands on them. They were OILY. I’ve never had oily crawfish in my life. That, and the seasoning was generally terrible. Ugh. And here’s the kicker. They wanted $ 20 for 1.25 lbs of crawfish. Really? I can easily eat 3 lbs in one sitting, and that’s not much compared to lots of people I know. And not only was it only 1.25 lbs. THEYWEIGHEDTHECORNANDPOTATOESWITHTHECRAWFISH, so I ended up with well less than a pound. The waiter was nice enough to double my order because I was absolutely flabbergasted at being so ripped off, but I STILL left hungry, and I had to hang around after I ate to finish my glass of wine because it took the waiter SOLONG to bring it. Again, the crawfish is horrendous and ridiculously overpriced. Just don’t get it.

visited during a business trip to Houston, but wasn’t a fan of the restaurant, the food was great, I had a lobster/seafood salad, and it was delish. the problem was that it was extremely loud in here. also, the server took forever to take our drink order(and im a very patient person). took even longer to bring the drinks out and take our order.

Last month my family was treated to good food but poor service. I complained to the manager the next day. They responded appropriately. We dined there last week and Everything was Great. These people care about their customers.

After 15 years of harboring quite the attitude about going into Houston«on purpose», I finally made the plunge for a long weekend of museums and divey restaurants. Here is the third chapter of my trip report. OK, this is the place we have come to know as Papadeaux. It’s neither a museum nor a dive… it’s just a place near our hotel where we decided to have lunch. Fried oysters, clam chowder and gulf snapper with side salads and chardonnay. Now let me start by saying that Pappas is not bad. The food is all very acceptable; with options to substitute side salads for fries, etc. I can’t even fault them for making their chowder too salty: after all, this is the south. It’s just that things fall a bit short for their prices. They definitely charge tourist prices. And, true, we were tourists in Houston… but…hey now… I just hate falling for it. I think they make up, somewhat, in their dessert selection. The put the tray out by the entrance so you basically know your fate when you walk in. They just look so ridiculously good. Fortunately, I have evolved to the point where I can pass them by… but I do so with a tear in my eye.

Some of my family & I stopped here for a quick lunch & left full, but not exactly satisfied. They have a diverse menu with plenty of options & whatnot, but this slightly shabby restaurant was missing something as far as the cuisine goes. My favorite part of the meal was my salad because it was completely fresh and had wonderful flavor. My entrée, the daily special of mahi mahi with shrimp and crawfish on top, cooked in a white wine cheese sauce with a side of mashed potatoes, was disappointing, especially given the high pricetag. The portions were great — a nice slab of mahi mahi covered in yummy seafood — but everything was extremely salty. The sauce itself was nothing more than a salt bath for the fish. It completely masked the taste of the dish itself. I was annoyed with that because I love me some seafood. Of course, the mashed potatoes were adrift in oil & butter & had been oversalted as well. I had all of two bites & gave up on those. Our waiter was nice, friendly, & kept our glasses full throughout lunch. He took care of us the whole time, & was just what a waiter should be: present, but delightfully absent. Really, this place is decent food, though it falls prey to the standard restaurant trap. You get large, oversalted portions, none of which really has much distinct flavor. Pappa’s is nice, but there’s better seafood out there. On the bright side, you can get a quiet meal with good service if that’s your wish.

As far as the food, this Pappas is like the rest, good solid quality food, and plenty of it, at a reasonable price. I had the lunch Crawfish & Catfish, which was the meat from about 30 Crawfish, fried, with a nice piece of fried catfish in the middle. Very nice. Service was excellent — our waiter had a large party arriving so he passed us off to someone not as busy, and let us know. Other waiters would pitch in to help(filling water, taking the credit card) as needed to help make everything run smoothly. That really says something about the management there — they have built a real team of people willing to support each other. Downsides — the slaw was hurting, needs something, maybe a little lemon? And my wife thought the gumbo was a tad over-salted. But those are both minor complaints. Bottom line, good service(verging on great), and good, solid seafood. And a reasonable price.

I was floating around and decided to slide by Pappas Seafood to check out their Happy Hour. I give them 2 thumbs up!!! The bar area had plenty of space and the bartender greeted me as soon as I sat my purse down. The food is always good but today I ordered the cheesy shrimp potato skins, mini shrimp fondue and the house bread. To drink I had a beach ball which is a mixture of hurricane and margarita mmm mmm! I was more than happy to leave with a $ 14.05 bill. Overall I had a great experience!

Had you asked me to rank Pappas Seafood last year, I would’ve given them about a four star ranking. After last night’s experience, I’ve sworn not to go back to this location no matter how much I’m craving crawfish. In the good ol’ days(umm, last year?), they used to be friendly. And prompt. And they actually understood that an empty glass meant a refill was necessary. In the good ol’ days, the bread wasn’t rock hard, the food came out promptly, and sitting at the bar didn’t mean getting ignored. Now, the service has gone downhill to the point that we avoid the dining room and sit at the bar whenever possible in hopes of getting faster service. Even that has failed us now. Trying to get the attention of your waitress so you can have another beer is never a good sign – especially when you’re sitting right in front of them. Having to go to the the hostess’s booth to get your own menus because the bartender is too busy sulking isn’t good idea. All this could be forgive for good crawfish. I mean, Tuesdays they have a great deal($ 5 for 1.25 lbs or so), so we tend to go every few weeks and stock up on our cholesterol for the year. Each time this season, the crawfish and the service got worse and worse. Last night, the crawfish were so over cooked that they were bone dry and it was near impossible to actually get the meat out of the tail. Couple that with the fact that I didn’t get one single potato(I stole one from the hubby) and the corn actually came with a frozen-then-defrosted taste to it. I had two bites and had to give up. I was so irritated by the end of the night that I really don’t know if I’d ever go back again for the crawfish. Sure, they have other dishes available and they’re all okay, but if with the lack of service and rising prices on their menu, it just isn’t worth it. I’d rather spend the gas money and drive my butt across town to get some better tasting seafood.

Every time I go home to Houston, I have to visit at least one location of Pappas Seafood. For some reason, I have yet to understand, we are graced with Pappasitos, Pappadeaux, Pappa’s BBQ& Pappa Bros Steaks in Dallas… but no Seafood House. I visited this location on a date. We sat next to the large aquarium and at a couple of points caught ourselves watching the eel swim around and the huge fish(bigger than a basketball) look at us with his crooked eyeball. I ordered the Mixed Grill and a cup of Crawfish Bisque. Our waitress was a tad slow on the drink refills… but all in all it was a solid 4-star lunch.
