Had the best banh bot chien of my life here! The crisp was perfect. The employees there are very nice and their prices are reasonable. I order a side of two eggs and rice and they charged me $ 4 instead of others places(a whopping $ 7.50) I somehow always want to go to this place on a Thursday but that is their normal off day so stay away on that day. I have yet to experience anything remotely horrible there. Kudos for always staying consistent!

I believe this restaurant changed owners sadly. The service is still good as the old staff; friendly and quick. There are a few items that I have ordered and just didn’t taste the same as before? Maybe it’s just me being biased but it just didn’t taste as good as before. There were some dishes that didn’t change much– which is why I will still be coming back :) Tried their speciality item, the dry chicken noodle and it was good. Not the best I have had on Bellaire but not bad.

Starting selling crawfish! They are using a new crawfish cooking style. Vietnamese– cajun Wok Stir technique. This is sealing all flavors and juices in the crawfish head. So good!

Drove from Austin to Houston because I thought that this is the same Minh Ky Mi Gia in Orange County, CA… it’s not. The staff was nice and the restaurant is very clean. In addition to noodles they also have rice dishes. We start off with«bot chien» which is fried dough with egg and it was delicious! For entrée, we ordered broken rice with pork chop, fried egg noodle with seafood and the dry house special noodle. Broken rice with pork-chop come with egg omelette, fresh veggies an a side of soup, good but nothing too exciting. Fried egg noodle portion was very generous, again nothing stands out and it seem to taste like every other restaurant. House special dry noodle come with fried shrimp and assorted sliced meat with a bowl of soup on the side. Believe it or not the noodle it self is too dry… I know, i know… it’s dry noodle but dry noodle usually have a meat sauce so that you can toss the noodle. One highlight of my dish is the soup on the side(come with pork bone and shrimp), it was so good. On and all, not a bad place to eat.

We’ll be back. First customers of the day and they totally delivered. [Com Tam Pork plate] actually had«broken rice» to my surprise. Some places would just use reg long grain, but how the rice is cooked(comes out more clumped) is stickier. Whether traditional or not, you don’t really see many people eat this rice dish with chopsticks cause its easier with a spoon as opposed to unbroken rice. The texture is just spectacular and has always been my favorite rice dish. –Veggies 5⁄5 fresh. –Sweet fish sauce 5⁄5 –Steamed egg 4⁄5 but its still a high-fivin’ piece! –Shredded pork… I’m sure its good… never really a big thing for me so left it alone. –Complimentary soup(just like mom’s good) Let’s talk about the marinated pork. WOW5⁄5. –Charred to perfection –Not sure if they used lemon grass with the marinade, but it sure tastes like it. Usually has a faint hint of lemon/ginger and rocks most dishes. [Banh bot chien shared dish] I think I had this before a while back. Its basically fried rice flour cakes in an egg(crispy pancake style) and came with a vinegar-like soy sauce(Not like dumpling sauce). We really enjoyed this fun pancake. To me, its kinda… kinnnnddaa like a vietnamese hash brown egg pancake… but not. 4⁄5. [Bonus item**] Complimentary Vietnamese Jelllooo on the houseee! Rau Cau is the bomb. Looks like jello but a thicker gelatin beast of its own. This one is my all time top, weak in the knees flavor for this dessert. Pandan and coconut. Staff and service was fast and great. Family place with the comforts from home feels.

The food was okay, I’m guessing the food is from a different region of Vietnam cause it has a different taste to it. Nice size portions and friendly service, although my waiter was a bit pushy on me trying something I didn’t want to try.

Maybe eating inside is better, but do not get to go. My bf ordered two orders of the hu tieu bo xao cai lan. MAYBE they cheaply made one portion and put it into two separate containers because each container had only about half the portion of any regular one order. Barely any sauce and they give you about a few pieces of meat and a bunch of cai lan stems.

Wow, I was impressed by this place. I did want to try many times before but my friends said their food was just ok. Finally, I am brave enough to check it out. I really fall in love with their«bun bo cay Bac Lieu»(Beef spicy noodle). It was a bomb to me. The broth is a little bit spicy, beef was so so tender. This dish is perfect for a cold day. Banh bot chien and com chien ca man were nice too. I will come back to try more dishes! Service is great, my waitress is so friendly and patient. Food: 9⁄10 and service 8.5÷10.

Tonight was my first time eating at this restaurant omg… restaurant was spotless and friendly staff! I had the broken rice with grilled chicken and my daughter had the sweet and sour chicken. Plus the egg rolls were delicious. I have finally found my favorite restaurant here in Houston.

This restaurant is the best in its class and is one of my favorite place in Bellaire. I come here at least twice per week and usually have Com Tam(Broken Rice with Chargrilled Pork, Shredded Pork, & Egg Cake), Bun Ga Nuong(Vermicelli & Grilled chicken), Bun Bi & Thit Nuong(Vermicelli, Shredded pork & Grilled Pork). Food is served quick and tasted very Vietnamese authentic, especially the fish source. Staffs are friendly as well…

this place is close to home and my family didn’t feel like driving far into chinatown for some good Vietnamese food. we got the banh bot chien to start. I don’t know if i find it better than tan tan’s, just different. the egg cakes were superrrrrr crispy around the edges and fried nicely. the sauce it came with was slightly too sweet, but overall it balanced well with the pancake. my dad and i both got the bun thit nuong bi cha gio. the portion size was GREAT for what your pay! it was large, and the meat was delicious. i’ve never had bun with bi and i thought it was a great addition. my brother got the hu tieu xao do bien and it wasn’t the best i’ve had, but still good and again great portion size. overall, fantastic bang for your buck and the food tastes great!

I didn’t want to drive deep in the heart of Chinatown so we stopped here to eat. Ordered some banh bot chien and a bowl of Wonton soup. Banh bot chien was nice thick slices… crispy edges. Good but still not as good as Tan Tan’s. Wonton soup was just ok as well. I felt like the wontons were on the small side. They gave lots of bbq pork strips, but it was a little tough and lacked some flavor. They are a little skimpy on the café sua da, too. But overall, the staff was very nice. Food came out at a decent pace. We would return later on in the future.

Came here to try the banh bot chien and it was fantastic. I’ve never had anything like it. It’s a fried egg cake with fried squares of rice fried together into a crispy pancake. It’s a pretty filling appetizer for only $ 6. For my main course, I got the grilled pork with rice. The pork was tender and very flavorful. The portion was so big that I ended up taking half home. As for the restaurant itself. It’s pretty far out from the rest of Chinatown on the outskirts of Alief past Dairy Ashford. I had to knock a star off for the service. Our waitress didn’t do a good job of checking up on us and she took a while to come take our order.

I got the com tam(pork, steamed rice) to go order and it was delicious. It’s better than the com tam at Tan Tan & other com tam places in the Bellaire area. They even give you mini pork skin with the rice. It tastes close to the com tam I had in Vietnam. The meat is good and the fish sauce was fantastic! This will definitely be my regular place for com tam. I will also give the other meals a shot.

This is one of the best restaurants of it’s type. It’s absolutely my favorite. The grilled pork with rice is wonderful. The people are very friendly. They make you feel like you’re in their house. The cold coffee with condensed milk is crazy good. Ask for a to-go cup though, it’s hard to drink it all in one sitting!

Let me start off by saying the food here is great! I always get the rice cake and crispy fried squid. I’ve also tried the different rice plates and those too were delicious. But no matter what I get, I pair it with the soda chanh(lemon soda) to drink. But my only complaint… phone orders at this place has been it’s Achilles’s heel. They’re not very good in English so it’s best to have the menu numbers handy when ordering if you do not speak Vietnamese. I was once told, «call back later and order» when they couldn’t get anyone with decent English to take my order. Also, I’ve called in a phone order(I had the menu numbers this time!) and I was told that there were no phone orders placed upon arrival. I just ordered once I got there, and it took about 10 minutes to get the food. I was then called back from the restaurant about an hour later, asking when I’m picking up my order. With that being said, I still gave this place 4⁄5 stars. Which is a testament to how great their food is!

I ate the catfish soup and added in the fish sauce. It was sweet, sour and spicy. I wish the catfish did not have bones in it but it was still very good. I would like to go back and try some dishes I am more familiar with. I would go again. Very friendly people.

Food was pretty good. We ordered mi hoanh thanh xa xiu nuoc and hu tiu mi kho. Both of them were tasty and good. The place is clean but as usual, service was a typical chinese, Vietnam restaurant. They brought out your food and that was it, never checked back to see how you do or if you need anything else, even refilling your drink…

I love this restaurant! I love their food and I love that the music isn’t overbearing. The waiters are attentive and polite. The bánh bt chiên is extra crispy and delicious. I know it is a very simple dish, but I really like their bún tht nng ch giò. My BF, on the hand, always orders the fried chicken fried rice. Prices are also very reasonable and I’ve never had to wait for a table. They also keep their dining furniture pretty clean too, which is always a plus. This place kind of reminds me of a cleaner, less packed Ph Ngon.

I been there about three times! I always order the com tam(broken rice plate) because that’s just my favorite! I love how they don’t skimp out on the meat or rice! The soup on the side is so good, I usually don’t drink the soup but damnnnnnn! I totally recommend this place. They get your food out quickly, and prices are reasonable because of the quality!

I’m sad that the old Tan Tien is gone. I used to come here for lunch back in high school and we came back every once in awhile for family dinners. But I am glad that they replaced it with something that is pretty solid. This place’s best dish is their banh bot chien. I feel they deep fried the bot first before adding the egg and frying it again. Their bo luc lac was solid, and the wontons were pretty flavorful. I will be back to go through their menu as there are many classic viet dishes that I could potentially enjoy. It actually had very good service for a vietnamese restaurant too.
