One of the original long-standing Chinese Vietnamese restaurants in Chinatown. They have the best five spice duck with egg noodle soup along with their authentic and eggrolls that are rolled in the clear rice paper and fried to a crisp golden brown. Definitely a must-see location if you’re in town.

I was a little skeptical coming here for the first time because the area isn’t the greatest but I decided to take my chances. I went ahead and ordered the wonton noodle soup with the bbq pork. SOGOOD. The noodles were perfectly thin and the broth wasn’t over seasoned but didn’t just taste super watery. Overall, wonderful food, service was decent, and you can’t beat the price. Now I have a go-to place when I want something warm with a good price!

This place has changed since a year ago and the food is mediocre, service is poor because no refill on water and not attentive to customers. We were here for lunch on a Friday afternoon and the place was less than half full. Sorry to say it will be my last time here even though it has been a great spot the years I’ve grown up frequenting this joint.

This is my first time here and a quick look at the crowd I know I’m in good hands. The wonton noodle soup is delicious and pork chitterlings are nicely fried. Definitely be back and recommend this place to friends.

This was one of my favorite childhood restaurants growing up, literally used to eat here every other day after school as a kid with my dad. Their chicken fried rice was my absolute favorite and the ONLY fried rice I ate. They changed owners or whatever and is now«Cheno». I ordered a box of fried rice Togo right before work, my boyfriend said it smelled funny and refused to eat it, but I thought maybe because the change in recipe due to change in owners. I ate it right before getting on the clock at work and shortly after I was running back and forth throwing up. And had to go home. No I’m not preggos but I’m pretty sure something was wrong with my food. I don’t relatively have a weak stomach. Highly disappointed, this was my absolute favorite restaurant to go to since I was a little kid.

Came here years ago and just kinda forgot about this place but it was good back then. Decided to give it a try again after seeing some positive reviews on here. Definitely wasn’t impressed. Got the flaming beef which was aite I guess the rice tasted off tho threw most of it away. Also got the pan fried noodle with Chinese broccoli and beef. I actually liked the noodle and Chinese broccoli and even the sauce which was quite Liquidy still had a nice taste but the meat sucked ended up eating all the broccoli and half the noodles but threw most of it away. Gave this place two stars bc at least it made me realize how much a appreciate tan tan. I highly doubt I will find myself back eating here

Love this place since the first time my family brought me here in 2004. My parent go here sometime because this place has some good food. My favorite is their noodle with wonton, and the noodle stir fried. Their noodles are really good, good pricing are pretty cheap and plenty. I would recommend others to try their food. It taste better than some Vietnamese place like tan tan.

Food was good. General Tso chicken a little too Breaded and Batter. Needs more larger chicken pieces. Shrimp Fried Rice fairly good. Had to compare to Chinese Café. Will order something else next time.

This is the AUTHENTIC vietnamese dining experience. When you go to Vietnam you cannot help but recognize the 3rd World Country vibe. The heat. The humidity. The light blue walls with cobwebs that are accentuated by the sparse and dimly lit fluorescent light. The dirty/sticky tables that no matter how much you wipe wont ever be clean, THIS has it ALL. Honestly, going here brought back a wonderful nostalgia of my travels to Vietnam. If you want to get the Vietnamese dining experience without going to Vietnam, this will be it without the diesel smoke. When we came here, the place was packed. All Vietnamese locals. Our waiter, had such a strong accent, I thought that I was instantly transported to Vietnam. We ordered: Banh bot Chien: 5 of 5 we like it better than Tan Tan’s famous BBC Xa Xiu Noodle Soup: 5 of 5, its not the best but its so incredibly authentic it gets points of nostalgia Chiu Chow Rice Noodle Soup: I wont comment on this but the lady appeared to like this.

Their bot chien here is pretty good – nice and crispy. I ordered their pig feet egg noodle soup. They give you 2 big chunks of pig feet… nice. Salted pork ribs were decent, as well their wonton soup, hu tieu, and crabmeat soup. All were flavorful and they were not stingy with the noodles, meat, or veggies. Food here seems legit. Besides the creepy man that stands in front of you and has a creepy smile on his face, my experience here was good.(FYI: They don’t have bun bo hue here).

My favorite place for Mi Vit Tim and Hu Tieu Ap Chao. This place is not an idea place to take your first date here because of the cleanings of the place.

My favorite hole in the wall. I’ve been dining here since I could walk. It has recently changed hand of ownership but the new owners didn’t change a thing except for the wall colors. My parents usually get their seafood hot pot, family sized portion for a decent price. I always order their Hu tieu do bein xao kho or hu tieu thieu chao or banh bot chien. All of which are delicious! I do not recommend their fried rice However, it’s a waste of money and space in your stomach. Save room for their other delicious dishes.

The venue, not so great. Not so clean. However, great tasting authentic Vietnamese cuisine can be found here. We ordered seven dishes — hu tieu ap chao thap cam(combination sauteed noodles), rau muong(water celery), muc rang muoi(salt and pepper squid), suon rang muoi(salt and pepper pork), ga xao xa ot(lemon grass chicken), do bien tau hu thap cam(seafood and tofu hot pot), and canh chua ca(sour fish soup). All the dishes I would order again but for the canh chua ca. The soup consisted of merely 3 pieces of catfish and lots of bean sprouts. I prefer more okra and bac ha(taro stem). Our food came out super fast and piping hot. I will note that they were not busy so this could explain the speedy delivery. Also, the staff was very attentive. Kept our water full. Finally, beware when you go into the bathroom. You will step into a confined area and instinctively hold your breath. Think next time, we will order takeout from here. I give this place 4 stars without consideration of the venue, just food and service alone.

This is the place to go if you’re looking for authentic Vietnamese food. This place never fails when I’m missing my mother’s home cooking. The only drawback is that it’s an old restaurant so it feels pretty dirty. The restaurant is always humid inside and I’m leery of touching their condiment containers. But obviously the food is that good that’s why I can look past the uncleanliness feeling. The canh cay chua suong non is the best I’ve tried. I don’t like my soup to be too sweet. I prefer it to be more on the salty and sour side and this place nailed it. Tastes just like my mom’s soup! The Suong rang muoi is the dish we always get. It is very flavorful and even though it’s fried it’s not too greasy. The salted fish and shrimp fried rice is just okay to me but my sister loves it. The rau muong with garlic is full of flavor. I prefer it a bit less cooked but it’s good nevertheless. Overall, I’ve been coming here for years and it never fails. A definite must try if you’re looking for some authentic good Vietnamese food. Four stars just because of the ambiance.

Yasssss! This is one of my go-to neighborhood places. You’ll easily miss the way in to the parking lot if you’re not paying attention. Everything I’ve ordered from here is delicious. This place has the only fried rice I’ll eat in all of Houston. Special lomein is also a safe choice. Whenever I visit, I have to get the imperial rolls, otherwise known as Vietnamese egg rolls. Sooooo good, and the accompanying lettuce and cilantro are hella fresh. Still haven’t tried the hot pot, but I will one day… Prices are also great. I’ve never spent more than like $ 15 for an individual meal. They also take credit cards now!

Read the reviews and was craving Banh Bot Chien. Asked a local Houstonian where to get some and he said Hao Hao Mi Gia. I guess Viets call it by a different name then the Unilocalers XD Anyways we got one Trieu Chau wide noodle soup and a Quang Dong soup. Both are soooo delicious. The flavoring of the broth was right on. I can still taste it in my dreams… We also each got our own portion of banh bot chien because we are suppose to be finish it off by ourself. Nope. Its huge. After my delicious noodle soup it was hard to even touch the bbc. Tbt, I like the Boston version better since its rice cake and its softer. This version here is much more crispier and its like one huge piece stick together. Anyways still glad we went here. And I’m made picky about my noodle soup. So trust me, its good.
