Hands down just excellent! We had our very first date here and I picked the place because of a certain Malbec they had. I informed the host that it was a special evening and man did they go above and beyond! They took my card before so there was no question of who got to pay at the end, I didn’t have time to pick up flowers so they offered me a few from their vase in the back, I had wrapped a present and like clock work the server tacitly brought it out at desert just as I had instructed! As I mentioned I picked the place based on a wine, however when it came time to bring it out, they had just sold the last bottle! So the manager extended their apologies and offered another bottle and was kind enough to give a discount on the bottle to make up for the hiccup. Our service was divine, our food was great, the atmosphere romantic and calm just like I had asked for. This place holds a special place in my heart because of how much attention to detail they paid to my wants and needs. With their help our first date was a knockout! I mean, after all we are just about to celebrate another anniversary!

Started with fish tacos which were tasty. Moved on to oven roasted chicken with mac & cheese and mashed potatoes, needed a starchy feel good meal and L&L didn’t disappoint! My partner had the filet with risotto & veggies. Mmmmm mmmm.

So a friend wanted to go here for her birthday celebration. It just so happen to be restaurant week and we ordered off the special menu. I had the fillet which was cooked very well. I always get my steak medium well and sometimes it’s burned. The chefs at lauriat did a great job and it was well cooked and very juicy. The service was spotty but considering the time we went in… I’m not judging too much.

the service was great. The food was even better! It was Houston’s Restaurant Week, so they had a special menu. My husband ordered the steak and I ordered fish tacos with a side of mac and cheese. The steak was unbelievable! One of the best steaks I have ever taste. Fish tacos were not anything to go crazy about, but if you like pasta… the green chile mac and cheese was amazing! My friend ordered goat cheese risotto and it was also delicious. A little pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for!

Line & Lariat is Hotel ICON’s restaruant. My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon, and we payed for two breakfast buffets at the restauraunt. It was delicious! Each morning the buffet was different and so delicious! It featured items such as eggs, omelletes, sausage & bacon, grits, pastries, fruits, yogurt parfaits, and more. Food was hot and really great. The restaruaunt is very clean and has some lovely décor/seating. The mornings were cheery, bright, and airy. The staff of Line & Lariat were so kind! Very quick and always checking in to make sure you have everything. They also have a fully stocked bar and plenty more on their menu. Although we only tried breakfast, all the food sounded incredible. We also ordered some dessert(apple pie with ice cream) and mojitos as room service one night. It was expensive, but it was so worth it! I would definitely recommend!

The restaurant is beautiful and fits in perfectly with the ambiance of an upscale hotel, just lovely. Line & Lariat itself was surprisingly not as upscale as I expected during lunch, in both good and bad ways. Good: Food was casual yet still good. During lunch, they offer soups, salads and sandwiches at reasonable prices – I think they were all under $ 15. I had the fajita wrap, which was delicious, and the french fries that came with it were even yummier. Bad: Service in such a nice place was sub-par. We had to flag down our waiter for the check, and he realized that he’d given us the wrong dessert menu after we’d already ordered and gotten the check. I’d really expected better service from such a beautiful, upscale place.

Nice hotel bar and restaurant. Located inside the Hotel Icon lobby, Line and Lariat is a quiet, swanky local that has outstanding food. I order the meatloaf, green chile mac & cheese, and the risotto. The meatloaf was outstanding! Moist, and full of flavor although I wish try went a little lighter on the sauce that they topped it with. The mac & cheese had no green chile flavor or spiciness. The mac & cheese was good, but disappointed that the extra flavor wasn’t there. The risotto was filling and creamy. I would order everything again except the Mac & cheese. The beer selection was poor(3 rotating taps I believe). This place is more inline with wine and cocktails. The quiet atmosphere is different and makes it a relaxing drinking spot.

Gluten-Free Bread(Udis) Decent burger Came on Mothers day for dinner(huge mistake) seemed like 1 waiter for the entire restaurant. Forgot dressing for salad, forgot extra fork, took like 10 minutes to get water refilled, tea refilled, alcoholic drinks super slooooow service. When I went to bathroom after 40 minutes of waiting for our food and only 3 tables in the entire restaurant I saw our entire tray of food sitting on a table and asked the bartender can I take this, this is our order. She goes no she has to take it. The food was cold when it came out and he forgot one of our«mothers» dishes on MOTHERSDAY??? Would never come to this joint again, this restaurant was super slow and the food was crap for the price. I would fire this restaurant manager ASAP. Horribly ran hotel restaurant. If your staying in this hotel DONOTEATHERE, unless you are OKAY with turtle service and the slowest waiters in the game. Excellent atmosphere however.

Line & Lariat’s bar is great! We enjoyed ourselves very much. Came for an overnight stay for date night away from the kids and pets and for a much needed change of scenery. Checked in at 3, came to the L&L bar for a drink before our 5 o’clock couple’s massage. I had the Grand ‘maretto and my hubby had the Maple Bourbon Smash. Fantastic! At the bar, we enjoyed a plate of cheese, meat and crackers that featured a house dipping sauce. This plate satisfied us so well, we did’nt need dinner! Ambience and service was just what we needed: quiet, mature, elegant.

We live in Houston and have eaten here a number of times. In Houston we have available any number of very good restaurants and are always searching for new ones. That is indicative that we very much like the food here. Besides the good food, we enjoy the elegant surroundings, the excellent service and the quiet atmosphere. Our last visit, Thursday last, I had their meatloaf which was excellent and then imaginatively grilled. My wife had the sea bass and they readily accommodated her preparation preferences and it was excellent. Each was accompanied by excellent season veggies, which were a good mix and cooked nicely al dente. We also shared a knockout wedge salad with blue cheese which they split nicely. Those in Houston who like us chase after the newest and greatest owe it to themselves to give it a try. Those staying at the hotel should take advantage of their luck.

This restaurant is located in the lobby of the Icon hotel. The atmosphere is relaxed, spacious, and beautiful with the towering historic columns. The restaurant closes at 9pm, but they still served us a food in the bar area. Service was a bit slow, but then there was only 1 bartender and several patrons on a Friday night. My friend loved the meatloaf, but my kale salad with steak was just OK. The side of sweet potato fries was also OK. For a hotel restaurant, mediocre overall.

I ordered Line and Lariat room service during a business trip so this review is for the pecan crusted tilapia dish. The fish was excellent, perfectly breaded with an element of crispness that was well balanced. The steamed vegetables were very good and garlic mashed potatoes very hearty and thick. My only complaint is the price, too much for what I got. Although the quality of fish was good I do not think the meal was worth upwards of $ 50 and I cannot review the service quality since it was room service but on food and price I give it 3.5 stars, a bit above average.

We went here for dinner at 7 on a Saturday night. There only a couple other tables while we were there and a couple people at the bar. It was quieter than I would have expected for a Saturday night. I had seen some of the negative reviews so I wasn’t sure what to expect. However everything was just fine for us. Our server(Terry) was polite and attentive. The drinks and food came at the speed you would expect. The jalapeño cornbread was delicious. I had a cheeseburger and it was pretty good. About what you’d expect a cheeseburger to taste like, nothing better or worse. The appearance of the restaurant, bar and lobby was clean, some elegance mixed with Texas flavor. I doubt we’ll go back for dinner, not because of anything wrong, but there’s nothing compelling a return visit either. We might get a drink at the bar again if we were in the area with some time to spare.

I hate leaving such a horrible rating but my experience here was very… unfortunate considering Marriott’s reputation for quality and service. Line & Lariat is a hotel restaurant nestled inside of Hotel Icon — lovely décor and inviting atmosphere. Being that this is a restaurant hotel, I didn’t expect spectacular food or service but it didn’t even make the cut for 3 stars. My friends and I visited L&L for dinner to start off our girl’s bachelorette night. We arrived promptly at 8 pm for our reservation and was told by the hostess that there was not one for us. I’m not sure what the fuss was but one of my friends spoke with the hostess for about five minutes before she informed us that they would get a table ready for our party. Upon being seated, we were given menus except not all of us received one because they didn’t have enough… the restaurant didn’t appear to have many other patrons except a few at the bar so we found that strange and off putting. Our server, while extremely polite, would take a very long time to tend to our party. Perhaps, they were understaffed or not prepared for a large-ish group like ours. Anyway moving on to the food, the menu is changed every month or so. The current menu’s offering is nothing to yearn for in my opinion. The kitchen messed up on one of the orders. they overlooked the shrimp; it was sent back. They brought out a new plate; however, the shrimp was possibly frozen or undercooked the time. We didn’t even bother for dessert since our whole experience was just pathetic. Talk about a frustrating start to a fun night. I can’t say that I’ll visit L&L in the future.

Cuban night is what this review is ALL about. Well it seems the menu has changed and now items are individually priced rather than a sampler plate for $ 10. The drinks are $ 6.50, not a great deal because my brother order a whisky sour $ 5 stronger and cheaper. We were a bit surprised but decided to stay and enjoy the once in a lifetime cool August evening. Table and chairs are set-up outside, the band is also outside on the sidewalk. The band was nice, the weather perfect. Met some really nice people. So other than the switch and bait it was a great evening. My brother enjoyed it, it was his birthday so what the heck, the man of the hour was happy who am I to complain?

This review is strictly for the L&L Bar. Came here on Friday night at the recommendation of friends we were meeting before a concert at the Continental Club. The atmosphere is great. Beautiful bar,(actual bar is lighted), great bartender(Herbert) and fantastic cocktails and bar menu. Their drink options include Texas Spirits and Craft Beers. The Texas Mule was awesome but everyone liked what they had. Their wines by the glass options are plentiful with good choices. Everything on the bar menu sounded good but we tried the Coffee Crusted Baby Back Ribs with Ginger Cole Slaw –7, and they were outstanding. The Mini Grilled Cheese — Pretzel Bread, Tomato Jam, Crisp Bacon –7 and ICON Chop — Romaine Lettuce, Tomatoes, Bacon, Egg, Red Onion, Blue Cheese, Mustard Seed Dressing — 9, were also excellent choices. I seriously am looking forward to coming back specfically for the bar service as soon as I can. They also have a pretty good looking happy hour with selected drinks and foods too. You can park on the street if you can find a metered spot or you can valet park for $ 6 if you get your ticket stamped.

My husband and I had dinner here with another couple and the food was great, but the service definitely left something to be desired. We were warmly greeted at the door, but the service went downhill from there. Our server was pleasant, but was not educated on the food or wine menu, and when asked a question about either had no clue what to say. She was also EXTREMELY slow. After being seated(we had 7:00 pm reservations), it took almost 20 minutes to get our cocktails. And we were one of two tables in the entire restaurant. I kept hoping that the service would improve, or our server would engage with us more, but nope. She was as dry as toast. For appetizers we had the bacon wrapped quail and the scallops. The scallops were perfectly seared, and just melted in your mouth. The creamy rice beneath was a nice accompaniment to the lightness of the scallops, but lacked salt. The quail was definitely well-received, particularly by the men in our party. For entrees we had a little bit of everything — rack of lamb, T-bone, Tune Nicoise, and Snapper. All were excellent, but the Snapper and the T-bone were outstanding. The mac and cheese was also a big hit, served perfectly in its own cast iron skillet. For dessert we had the tres leches cake and strawberry shortcake. Both were good, but neither was too memorable. The portions, however, were definitely appropriate, as sometimes it’s overwhelming to get a desert that is bigger than need be after two full courses. Overall this was a great meal, but the service was not up to par of the food or décor of the restaurant. The manager had to come over and take our order… yet, by the time we ordered there were maybe four tables in the entire restaurant and more than 2 servers on the floor. We may go back and try it again, but there are better restaurants with exceptional service in Houston that we would likely try first. Cheers!

Given its luxurious atmosphere and cozy seating, I walked in for brunch at the Line & Lariat with high expectations. Sadly, the slow and inattentive service didn’t match the quality I had envisioned prior to my visit. After my boyfriend and I were seated, no server approached our table to take our drink order for about 10 minutes. Our waitress was unsmiling and apathetic, and didn’t seem very enthused to be working this early Saturday afternoon. We only saw her four times throughout our dining experience: once to take our drink orders, once to take our food orders, once to apologize for the food’s delay, and once to hand us the check. Yes. The food we ordered took quite a long while to prepare, especially since the restaurant was empty. According to the waitress, only one chef was working in the kitchen. The brunch menu is teeny tiny, with only 7 choices of items. I would have liked to see more fruit and fresh vegetable options, but the menu features mostly heavy, cheesy egg and sandwich dishes. I was hoping that maybe their lunch menu was available as well, since my boyfriend and I were dining there between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., but only the brunch items were being served. Darn it, I wanted a salad! I settled on the Texas Benedict(«English Muffin, Rajas, Sliced Avocado, Texas Blue Crab, Two Poached Eggs, Red Pepper, Topped with Hollandaise»), and I found it good enough! The English muffin was big and fluffy and the blue crab was very tasty. The dish also came with a side of potatoes, but I only tasted one of them. They were overcooked and smidge too salty. Overall, the dish was good but nothing special. For such terrible service, only fantastic food could have saved the Line & Lariat. Unfortunately, fantastic food is not what the Line & Lariat executed today.
