I was looking to book some tables for a party of 20 @ this place. I was told by the chick who handles the larger party reservations be a private menu. Ranging from 40 – 65 a person. Agreed to it, and asked for the menu to be emailed to me… still have yet to receive it. She just didn’t seem to have any type of customer service and was eager to get off the phone. I guess this place is so busy, they don’t need to service large parties. Bummer.

Service was great and the food was amazing! The had a very unique and original dining menu and drink menu with options for all kinds of eats. I had the mahi mahi tacos and was very impressed by how fresh the fish was! Their cocktail menu was the best part of the experience! Their menu was divided into different tastes and from there, they listed different options for each. They made their drinks strong and with great flavor. Downside was that we had to sit at a very small bar that was an island. It gave us limited space to eat and place our drinks, but it was worth it.

Had dinner at this location with friends and I have to say, the food is superb! I had the grilled pork chops which were not dried at all. The grits were tasty and creamy! At first I thought they were mash potatoes, but I remembered the menu mentioning grits. The collard greens were also seasoned perfectly without being too wilted. The bar drinks were also tasty and well balanced between the liquor and the mixers. The only downfall was that the waiter was very busy, but she had a lot of tables to serve, so I’m not gonna knock on that. Overall, I would definitely come back and try out the other menu items.

Came here with a party of 4. We had reservations and were seated promptly. Valet is 10 $. The place is very nice on the inside, and is always happening. Great décor. Their menu is diverse and reasonably priced. On that day however, all of us were in the mood for burgers so we all had the same burgers and the crab cakes to start. Delicious. The burger was cooked to order perfectly. Very tasty bun. We all loved it. Would come here again. Highly recommended.

I guess you have to be drinking heavily to really like this food. Came here after flying in for business and it was very close to my hotel and open late. I ordered the Braised Short Ribs 8oz angus | butternut squash purée | sautéed swiss chard $ 30. For this I received two small short ribs, less than a handful size portion of greens(not sure if it was actually swiss chard) and about three tablespoons of purée. One short rib was tender and the other was not, not sure how they pulled this off. But both were flavorless pieces of meat. And the greens and purée were not much better. Look I’m from Los Angeles and am used to small potions from the 5 star places around here. However usually the small portions are blow your mind great! And this place is clearly a Gasrto Pub and not a fine dining establishment. So I would suggest they take the expensive stuff off the menu since they can not do it well. And just stick with the Burgers and Drinks that everyone seems to rave about on the other reviews.

We all had the burgers! Super trendy place with chill atmosphere and reasonable prices. Service was wonderful too. Crab cakes were mediocre. I would have loved some of that mayo based sauce to be spicy with a little kick. Nice place to hang out. I believe you need reservations on weekends especially in the summer.

Hearsay impressed me, despite the fact that the wait was an hour and forty-five minutes(we sat at a thin bar table behind the bar rather than waiting for a table)! The service was great(very attentive service), and the building is gorgeous with great ambiance: such high ceilings, exposed brick, massive chandelier, etc. The food was good — and the menu offers a great variety of options(definitely upscale — not typical bar/pub/gastro food). My friend and I shared the smoked salmon crostini as an appetizer — good, very simple. My friend ordered the fish tacos, which she liked a lot. I had the seared tuna salad, which was the low point of the food we ordered. For $ 16, it was almost entirely lettuce, with five or six slices of seared tuna, a heap of pickled ginger(in a clump), and a handful of wasabi peas. Definitely not something I would order again. I think it’s a great place for appetizers and drinks though, and next time I might just share the appetizer plate and have a cocktail or two. The cocktails were very good, as well. I really appreciated that they separate the cocktail menu into categories(sweet, spicy, etc.), which really helped me to narrow down the drinks I wanted to try. All in all, good food, great drinks, great service great ambiance.

3.5 stars really and I may like Hearsay more if I decide to make some more return trips. Hearsay is located downtown so parking on the street or in a parking garage is your way to go if you don’t work in the area. I met a friend for happy hour here on a Tuesday. Hearsay is a popular spot for lawyers I mean how could it not be with a name like Hearsay. Apparently all of the seating on both floors were reserved so we had to sit at the bar. I found this a little bizarre on a Tuesday and all of the seats were never completely occupied during the hour or so we were at Hearsay. Kinda weird. Some of their craft cocktails are on special during happy hour(till 6PM) while there are no food specials. I went with the flaming Leah which while looks girly and fruity packs a punch. Quality cocktail. We asked our bartender for food recommendations and she said the Byrd burger caused her to stop being a vegetarian. With a sales pitch like that, I had to pull the trigger! The burger comes with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, a fried egg, bacon, ketchup, mustard, and another sauce which is escaping me. The bartender was right, the burger definitely delivered and was served with mac and cheese. I wasn’t huge on the mac and cheese, it was about average in my mind but other Unilocalers seem to like it! I wish we could’ve sat at a table as the seating on the second floor gives you a great view of the restaurant. Maybe all of the seating won’t be reserved next time around: p

Who thought I’d find some of the best food in Houston, late on Tuesday night, after a flying into IAH? We had the truffle mac and cheese($ 10), Hearsay Burger($ 13), and Stuffed Chicken Breast($ 16). All were fantastic. The mac and cheese truffles are unique, tasty, and make a nice starter. What really impressed us was the burger and stuffed chicken. The burger is enormous. Not even sure how you can bite into that thing. It’s tall, and makes you feel like a rabbit when you nibble through it. Great portion, well priced, very nicely done. But I loved the stuffed chicken! The goat cheese, spinach, cherries, and spices. It was a beautiful blend of flavor to complement a moist tender piece of bird. If you can only order one thing, order this! It’s one of the best dishes I’ve ever had! Can you guys fedex me some of that chicken? :D

We went for an early dinner. The happy hour house red got the job done at $ 5/glass. It was a great deal. We got crab cakes to start. They were a little bready, and they had too much bell pepper for my taste. My husband got the famous Byrd with the Mac and cheese, and both of those items were as fabulous as all the other reviews have said. I got the goat cheese salad and added shrimp. The greens were tender, the dressing was light ly applied and had a nice sharpness. The cheese and shrimp were very good. There were also some roasted tomatoes that tasted halfway between raw and sundried, and I mean that in a good way. They were deeply flavorful with no «squish». I hate raw tomato, and I loved these. We finished with the domino cake. That was delicious, but it didn’t seem housemade.

The place is small and intimate, but their food and cocktails are amazing. The good thing is this lounge has seating upstairs as well, hence the less crowding downstairs. There is another sister location near Discovery Green.

Great cocktail menu, and a nice food menu to choose from, too. They run seasonal stuff, so I encourage you to branch out and try something different. Otherwise, I’d recommend you try the Byrd, it aint half bad. A filling dish, too. Everyone else liked the mac & cheese, which is a basic dish you can’t really muff up. The upstairs(mezzanine?) level has a nice view of everything going on. I’d try to sit there if I were you. Otherwise, the bar will do, but there’s these strange long tables in the middle I’d avoid.

I like this place. It has a really cool vibe to it when you walk in. It does get crowded during happy hour, but the drinks are good. I have enjoyed a feel meals here too. Best hot dog ever. Really, who would think a restaurant like this would have a hot dog? It does and yum is what I have. There is a small patio and my dogs like to sniff the folks when we walk by and the folks like to say hi to them. Overall, it is a friendly spot. The menu is not on the low end. However, you can be smart and not spend a small fortune. Anything I have tasted from there has been met with one thing – good. Halley puppy trots around and wags her tail happily!

Pretty nice. Had the best seat in the house for our first visit and the service was very friendly. Our server was Rob and he was really cool and took good care of us. I had the beef short ribs which was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. We also ordered the mushroom risotto and the lobster tail which was also delicious. Great place to go before a show or just a night on the town.

This place has been on my bookmarks forever to come too. I love cocktails and I love ambience so it was a no brainer to me. My girlfriend and I wanted to meet up for our usual Food and Cocktails and crazy conversation outing. Our server was great and really took his time explaining the menu as well as put me up on game about parking. The parking meter was out of receipt tape so he told me to write all the details on a piece of paper and put it in my windshield and guess what? No Ticket Holla!!! The menu looked ok but not overly impressive… However the cocktail menu is awesome with some great mixology going on. Food Fried Asparagus-Nice crunch and light batter, needs a better dipping sauce and their ranch that I asked for taste oddly bitter. Goddess Caesar salad-We sent this back it lacked flavor and also had an odd taste to it. I typically love Goddess dressing but this taste almost like Cesar dressing with cilantro. Crab cakes-Decent, could use less breading but they were ok. Mac and Cheese-Not worth the calories, dry, lack luster and with so many mind blowing Mac and cheese spots they need to step it up. Send the Chef to Liberty Kitchen for a good lesson. Cocktails Flaming Leah-Really fresh and you can tell wasn’t made with fake syrup and juices, it was the real deal. Nice muddled strawberries, Vodka, Mint and lime who can beat that. Jalapeño-Hot Damn this made my throat burn soooo good, it was intense but tasty. Vodka, Jalapeño, Lemon and sugar. Be prepared for the tickle in your throat. Whitney-Vodka, Lemon, Blackberries and sparkling wine-Really good and really strong this one is a must for a quick buzz. The ambience was nice, I would come back for Cocktails only.

Pros: Great date night atmosphere with the chandelier and low lighting, all the food we tried was good. Cons: Service was a little on the slow side, as other reviewers have noted. Not ridiculously slow but for example, it did take some time after we were seated to even get a drinks menu. Details: Tried the hot dog(the toppings and especially the queso fresco added a nice twist, plus the bun was really good) with fries, grilled mahi mahi fish tacos, domino cake, and bread pudding. All good choices, but there were lots of other things that looked good on their menu — and since we aren’t too far, we will probably be back to try them. :)

My first time here and I was so surprised to found such a nice looking gem in downtown. The interior is very nicely decorative and I love the brick theme. It felt like I was inside a castle or something. This 2 story establishment is the place to be during the day or night if you want a nice ambiance downtown. The bartender was our server and he was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. He recommended a few things and left us to be on our own. He didn’t rush us, but he was attentive as well. FLAMINGLEAH– vodka, strawberry, mint, and lime I ordered this to start off and it was nicely sweet and refreshing. It was like a strawberry lemonade, but with alcohol. The vodka gave it a strong kick, but the strawberry and lime subsided it. The drink was a bit smaller than I would’ve imagined, but there was plenty of alcohol in it to last the whole meal. LEMONSHRIMPPASTA– sauteed shrimp, garlic, tomatoes, broccolini, lemon cream, and fettuccine This pasta is very creamy. I love the lemony taste, but too much of it can be very heavy. I was unable to finish the whole thing because it just carried too much cream. The shrimps were cooked to perfection and were nicely seasoned and sweet. I loved the acidity of the tomatoes with the shrimp, but wished there were more of it. PHILLYSTEAKSANDWICH– pan-seared tenderloin, bell peppers, onions, pepper jack cheese, horseradish, and ciabatta bun The meat was very tender and moist. I loved the cheesiness and the crisp bun. Everything worked well together because the meat was seasoned well and tender and the bell peppers and onions provided sweetness and a crunch and you get the cheesiness from the pepper jack. The fries were a nice addition and flavorful. I really love the interior, the food isn’t too bad, and the atmosphere is chill. I definitely want to see how this place is during the nighttime. I’ll be back to enjoy another meal here.

Dear Lord this place is amazing. I got off the plane and went straight here in rush because it was close to our hotel and about to close. I was shocked to see the amazing décor and then they had a great drink menu and even better dinner menu. We had the Salmon over risotto and Burger with an egg and Bacon. Plus some Old Fashions.

Hearsay is ABSOLUTELY gorgeous. Not exactly what you’d imagine when you think of elegance, but possibly way better in a more rustic, dark wood, and hanging light fixtures with enchanting chandelier hung from high ceilings kinda way. If anything, come visit hearsay simply to immerse yourself in the magical décor. It is a very small establishment, providing an intimate feel with tables close together and two levels. i suggest that you definitely reserve a table and specifically ask for a table on the second floor, which looks out onto the first floor and puts you at eye level with the shining chandelier. The service was A+ too. Our server was Vince and he was very attentive and accommodating. Many good conversations with him were had and he constantly checked in with us, giving us advice and such that seemed above and beyond the standard waiter jurisdiction. Very pleasant dining experience in both décor and service. However, maybe my expectations were amped too high for the food? Many friends sang about the wonders of the byrd burger, but I found it to just be decent. Not being one to really enjoy a burger, I thought if this burger was that amazing, then I could be convinced. However, I found it to have a lot of sauce(ketchup + mayo??) and I couldn’t locate the avocado in the burger for the life of me. Also, pictures of hearsay’s macaroni got me really excited about my side dish, but it didn’t match with the pictures, being smaller, less garnished with bread crumbs, and not piping hot like I hoped. My friend seemed satisfied with her black bean burger though. Overall, hearsay is a must-see, but maybe not a must-taste when it comes to the byrd burger. Perhaps, order something else?
