Food truck Fridays is awesome! This event occurs on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month during the evening(but be sure to check their big blackboard at the entrance to the supermarket for definitive dates). They close off a section of their parking lot so about 8 or so invited food trucks can come to park and sell their food. This event is free to attend, you just need money to pay for whatever you buy. Most food trucks these days let you pay by credit card so it’s ok if you don’t have any cash on you. This event is family and pet friendly since it’s outdoors and there are also multiple tables available to eat at on their outdoor patio. If you can’t snag a free table, feel free to sit on the curb and pig out! Alcohol is also permitted on their outdoor patio so feel free to run into HEB to grab some beer or wine. When I went a few months prior, they were selling Texas craft beer out on their patio. There is also live music on their patio for entertainment. I totally recommend this for a a fun, family and pet friendly casual Friday dinner(especially if you’re pressed for time– food trucks usually bang out their food super quick). Plus it’s a great way to check out the local food truck scene in Houston! P. S. There is a ton of parking here in their free parking lot.

Wife and I came by the food truck when we were heading to HEB for random weekend groceries. We ended up tasting a little from almost each truck present and had a great early evening of it. I can’t remember the names and know that they cycle out constantly, sometimes having less or more trucks present, but we had some absolutely fantastic Korean barbecue and kimchi fries from one, awesome Bahn Mi from another and a quality cut of brisket from yet another. There was also a snowball/sno-cone truck as well as a mexican food truck but our stomachs were full enough. The weather was great so we took our heaping helpings over to the tables outside of the store and enjoyed the musical stylings of a local folk artist strumming away on stage. She was angry about something and the guitar was unfortunately getting all the punishment, but it was still a fun change to our much more traveled brick and mortar dining options in the area. Really happy to see HEB embrace and support local businesses like this. If you drive by and see the trucks posted up outside HEB, stop and have a bight or two!

Had a lot of fun at this food truck fest tonight. Although, tried only 2 trucks as not all seemed very appealing to me. The best was the Vietamese/Korean mix truck. I loved there food. Second came, cup cake truck with awesome cup cakes. The turnout was pretty low. The ambience is very cool with Houstonians chilling outside HEB with some music playing as well.

Very cool of HEB’s shot-callers to make this happen and in such a comfortable classy location. Food options were diverse and pretty tasty. Thumbs Up to HEB and its players.

WOW! A FREE place where food trucks come together? Count me in! This HEB is already one of my favorites in town, especially because of the gorgeous trees outside and all of the selection inside, but then they have a food truck mini festival! This place usually brings all the big hitters in town. They often time have music and it’s a free little street festival. I love it!

This is my first time ordering food from food trucks! There is an entry fee and they give you tickets for drinks. Parking is free. It was a great experience especially if you come with a big group of friends because then you’ll get to try a little bit of everything.

This was Houston’s first regular food truck gathering that doesn’t charge you some ridiculous fee for entry or parking(the Food Park being the second). But it’s still the only one that has a fair amount of shade and seating, plus, live music, an indoor restroom, and a place to duck into the air conditioning if you get too hot. This is the way all food truck gatherings should be! On top of that, you can pick up all your groceries on your way out. Family friendly and dog friendly, I can’t wait for cooler weather to return — then, it’ll be perfect.

My husband and I checked out Coreanos, the Waffle Bus, Good Dog Hot Dog Truck and H-Town StrEats at the HEB food truck event, and it was a great time! The trucks set up shop at the fancy new HEB on Alabama from 5:30−8PM the first and third Friday of each month. The trucks are arranged in the small side lot of HEB on Dunlavy. There are tables out front of HEB and inside where you can sit and eat your food truck purchases. We also brought our dog(on a leash at all times, of course), who really enjoyed being out and about with us. There was live music on the patio and an HEB employee came by while we were eating to make sure we were having a good time and to get our feedback. HEB was selling beer and other beverages out of a small booth by the front of the store. I advise you to make a meal out of your food truck sampling: start with some fries from Coreanos, then enjoy a hot dog from Good Dog, then share a Waffle Bus treat for desert. I’m sure the trucks won’t always be the same, but there was a great variety to try when I went: Good Dog Food Truck H-Town StrEats The Waffle Bus Fork in the Road Frosted Betty Berryhill Tacos NOLA’s Cajun Kurbside Eatz With this event twice a month, I don’t see why you would ever need to pay a cover charge to go to one of those food truck festivals. This is a really great event. Once again the Texas grocery chain brings it’s A game. I applaud you, HEB.
