FYI — This restaurant is now closed! Even with the not so great reviews we were going to try it out, but we were just greeted by an empty parking lot.

The chips and salsa were good, and that’s where it ends. The queso was so gross. I had the chicken enchiladas too. Instead of shredded cheese, they used the queso cheese. The rice and beans were over cooked. I don’t think i ate half my meal. It wasn’t only the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had, it was the worst food I’ve ever had. So gross.

This place is fantastic compared to many Mexican restaurants in Northwest Houston. They have a very large menu. Their verde chicken enchiladas and fajitas are delicious. I’ve never had to wait for a table because it is so big. Yes the waiters can be kind of offhand but the food definitely makes up for it. It is also reasonably priced. Even my mom who doesnt normally like Mexican food likes it here.

I love this place. I eat here weekly and always get treated well. The food is always good and served fairly fast. I would recommend it for lunch any day of the week.

This was without exaggeration the worst Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to. I could waste many words talking about how bad and awkward the service and staff were, but even after enduring that, the food was horrific. I didn’t even come close to finishing my meal, refused a to-go box and got out of there. The food didn’t look, smell, or taste appetizing. I think someone said it best about this restaurant, «I’d rather eat at Taco Bell.» That is more than accurate.

1st time having lunch here, I do not recommend the ribs, terrible experience, after I complained to the waiters they just handled me the bill, the management team did not even try to apologize for this matter, I do not recommend this place at all, disappointing

Service has gone way down. When I order a two course meal, I have time to eat 2 bites of my tacos before they are being taken away and encheladas put down in their place. Last time I was actually burned by the plate being shoved in front of me mid bite with no warning. On another visit I was asked to move midmeal to make room for a large group(20 people mostly kids) that did not have a reservation. It is very sad to see a local place go downhill like this.

Ugh. This place was terrible. We had appetizers and all I remember was thinking I am getting a frigging refund. We had a shrimp appetizer that was wretched. Don’t go here.

A couple friends and I went there for lunch today. Restaurant was empty, service was slow. Staff was unattentive. Not quite sure how they managed it, but they ruined carne guisada. They literally served my friend boiled meat. Yuck! My other friend ordered nachos. You’d think anyone can get that right, but unfortunately that didn’t look much better. I ordered chicken breast. It was ok. Salsa was watery and not good. Should have been our first sign to try somewhere else!

Cant get happy hour drinks unless you’re buying food. Ribs were kind of burnt and dry when it said it comes with sauce. Just average restaurant

This area lacks good restaurants so if this place had good food, I’m guessing it wouldn’t be empty most of the time. The quesadillas were tasty, but the chicken they used was sub par. The happy hour prices are very good, and so are the margaritas. The service was okay although the waitress seemed very confused and came back to verify our drink and food order a few times. There is an odor that is quite noticeable when you walk in the door. It smells like sewer.

The restaurant has offered excellent service. Quick and attentive staff got our food to use & our drinks refilled without delay. The food on the other hand was very sub par. From the quality of the ingredients to the creativeness of the dishes. Pretty bleh. Might come back out of necessity for a quick bite, but will certainly not discredit my reputation by evvvverrrrrr recommending anyone eat here.

Been there plenty of times, food has always been good, until just recently. Ordered food to go, get home and my entire order was incorrect, I called, and the same cashier that took my ordered answered, she started giving me attitude. So I just drove back up to the restaurant, spoke to a man, he told me he would fix my order personally, so I step outside to use my phone and then here comes that same cashier outside and starts telling me off, at that moment I walk inside and asked that same man to just refund me my money. Point being is that I will never go back to that restaurant, horrible service.

The quantities are pretty big, so I would suggest that your order a la carte items instead of the lunch special. The lunch specials are not inexpensive anyway. The bean soup was too spicy for my own taste and it was full of green peppers, tomatoes and jalapenos. The least that it had were beans. The spinach enchilada was OK. The tortilla for the enchilada was kind of stiff and it was flour. I’m not sure but aren’t enchiladas with corn tortillas? I ordered a $ 3 margarita on the rocks. It was super sweet. While the restaurant is clean and pleasant and is another option to have for nearby residents, it needs some work on the food. The chips and salsa are good and served warm.

The restaurant was clean with a nice atmosphere, I was pleased to see they had Grilled Fish Tacos with mango habanero sauce. Disappointment immediately ensued when my order arrived, The fish tacos arrived just as they should, on corn tortillas. The fish harbored very little seasoning it was incredibly bland, To the side of the fish sat the sauce cup of the mango habanero sauce. It was my only salvation. I poured it on with confidence and eagerly bit into an epic fish taco fail. The sauce & the bland fish did not marry together well and left me eating bland fish with sauce that tastes like it came from a condiment packet. I cant say they were horrible, i ate them but it was just out of hunger. I wont be returning based on the tacos, if you cant get those right i have no interest in anything else you serve,

I’m appalled another commenter would claim my one star review was a fraud. It’s not. Still have not returned, not going to. It’s likely many of these folks do indeed like this establishment. From my experience this place is poorly managed and lacks any customer service. I have been to numerous Mexican eateries and never have I had one refuse to seat me where I wanted to be sat. This place close by me and would be great if it were on my list to visit. Go to romeros instead, at least the owner will take care of you.

If you’ve ever been to this place you know that the 1-star reviews have got to be from owners of competitor restaurants. The descriptions don’t sound anything like Hacienda San Angel. If you don’t believe it, just check the reviews at . We’ve been going here ever since it opened even though we live many miles north. It hasn’t taken off like it deserves to, so quality has dropped off a bit over the years. Hence the 4-star rating and not 5. The tortilla station generally stands empty now, no señorita pressing dough as before, slender rolling pin in hand, even on weekend nights. Yet the tortillas are still fresh as any in town. The fajitas hold their own in a class with Pappasito’s, Lupe Tortillas, Ninfa’s, El Tiempo, etc. Dishes like their stuffed avocados, spinach enchiladas and of course the fajitas keep us coming back for more. The margaritas are big, potent, well-constructed, and of good variety. And the décor and ambience are as inviting, relaxing and beautiful(if not quite as large) as the name suggests. It’s unfortunate that lack of discovery has kept more Houstonians from enjoying this Bear Creek gem, and from preserving its top-notch quality over the years. I don’t know how long they can keep it up, but as long as they are – by far – the best Mexican joint in this part of town, and as long as we keep rolling down Eldridge on our way toward I-10 and beyond, we’ll be there.
