I wanted to love this place due in large part to the friendly accommodating staff, a warm family atmosphere, and well appointed dining area. The food was just okay, the room smelled a bit, and the salsa tasted like tomato soup(with the same consistency). Ordered three taco meal with a beef sandwich(didn’t catch the name). They were fine, but not full of taste or fresh ingredients. Maybe I’m spoiled by the amazing taco /Mexican restaurants in Austin. Not sure. Overall, just okay. Try it. Maybe the other menu items are quite good.

Summary: Worth going out of the way to eat here. This family-owned neighborhood restaurant has zoomed high up on my list, because of the quality of the fresh and flavorful food I ordered this day. Chips y salsa: There is a salsa bar which has *real* Hot! sauce!(several varieties, mild and spicy) Excellent. Also, it has excellent fresh pico de gallo(always a good indicator of quality of a place). The chips are«Mexican flag» chips(green, red, and … ok ‘yellow’ instead of white). The menu is all in Spanish, but has excellent large pictures of the meals to help us gringos. Besides, by now, if you are really a Tex-Mex Aficionado, you know the ingredients in Spanish. There are daily specials and a small all-you-can-eat buffet, but I decided to go with a menu item: Enchiladas Suiza: As delicious as it can get. The sauce, melted cheese and plentiful shredded chicken are eye-closingly good(i.e. my measure of delicious is focusing on the flavor without interference from other senses). Accompanying the entrée is the typical rice and refried beans, which are better than average. Also, there is a bowl-full of shredded lettuce on the plate, topped with tomato and a couple of thin slices of avocado. Put on some pico de gallo, and you have a nice salad. Service was very friendly and OK, but the place was amazingly sparse of customers at noon hour. Maybe I ordered the only good dish on the menu(?). Atmosphere: Basic, and Mexican style, but without token decorations. Metal chairs with the back portion formed into an angel offer a nice touch. Music is from the Spanish MTV channel, with videos on a 50″ LCD hanging from ceiling. Good not-too-loud foot-tappin’ music this day. Wonderful lunch experience. Those enchiladas were so good, I am not sure I would try anything else. So, someone else go there and review this place for those items.
