Dona Chela Restaurant

Absolutely detest this place. The only reason we even dine here is because it is probably the only Mexican restaurant around us open late enough to dine in, but the absence of patrons for most of our visits tells me all I need to know. I usually stick to basic dishes, as the more complex orders the waitress can’t seem to wrap her mind around, as she constantly messes up our orders or forgets special requests we have asked for. Today, I ordered a hamburger with bacon, which the waitress referred to as «Monterrey,» but having no desire for ham, asked her to leave it off. She asked me if I wanted avocado and I said yes. I made sure to repeat it, as she is always the one forgetful.
Did I get my order as specified? A simple «no» isn’t even suffice. At the restaurant, the bacon asked for on the side are large, thick pieces with a lot of fat. Did I get even that on my burger? I literally got a thin circle of mustard, an entire bag of lettuce (complete overkill, I mean who does that!) and NO bacon or avocado!
I asked for it to be redone, and when I received it, it still had a small sliver of mustard and TWO FLIMSY PIECES OF BACON. I sent it back AGAIN! When I got it back the third time, the patty was like cardboard and even though I got bacon and avocado, the damage was done. It tasted disgusting.
The person who I can only assume was the cook decided to show her face to get a coke, one can assume, but gave me stank eye the entire time. It is NOT my fault you can’t cook and keep having food returned. Not to mention, the «menudo» was a chili powder gravy and even though we asked for no pigs feet, what did we get? You guessed it, a whopping foot of a pig dead in the middle of the bowl.
My brother ordered shrimp quesadillas and I asked him to order one for me, as I had not finished my meal. The verdict: just as nasty! Shrimp were tough, dry, overcooked, and is a testament to the lack of skills of this «cook.» How she can mess up a simple cheese and shrimp taco is beyond ridiculous.
From the attitudes to the service, I highly recommend steering clear of this place and go to the Chelas on Broadway. I have had better GOOD food not made by a stank eyed woman and can at least send it back without having to egregiously demand it to be redone.

One of my favorite places. Fantastic food. Breakfast is great here and the homemade tortillas are to due for. Try the corn tortillas… these are not the thin limp store tortillas. They are hardy and have taste. Worth the drive the the East end.

First time visit
Waitress was indifferent throughout our dining.
She would not even bring our check after two attempts.
There’s at least three other restaurants within walking distance with better food and service for this place to be so inattentive to customers
