Good family friendly place. Always good food and excellent service when dining in. Take out orders always correct. Margaritas are delicious.

The Carne Guisada tasted amazing and was enough for two meals averaging about $ 5.50 if you get the order To-Go.

The food here is great, it’s like a three minute drive from my house but most importantly, this is my family’s go-to big family get together spot! The waitstaff are always so incredibly patient and accommodating! We’re the kind of people that usually fly by the seat of our pants because we are such a big family that it’s pretty much impossible to coordinate with everyone else. So we can say we’re going to be a party of 30 and we end up being a party of 55. The staff always help us move tables and chairs and they’re still very good with getting everyone their orders correctly which is nothing short of a miracle. You do have to occasionally flag someone down for a refill but when you’re one person of nearly 60 it’s more than an understandable circumstance. This place has got 110 thumbs up from us! We will definitely keep coming back here for our family group get togethers!

I came here plenty of times as a kid. Loved their food at one point. Now, it seems as if they quality of the food has taken a hit. Wouldn’t recommend.

First… $ 4 Margaritas! Cheaper than the $ 5 Dos XX! Delicious. Probably some of the best grilled chicken specialties. Ordered Don Carlos Tipico combo. It included flauta, beef enchilada, and chicken fajita taco. And mysteriously a chicken fajita quesadilla showed first, a la carte, as an appetizer. All delicious. Only complaint is they were understaffed for our large group along with all the other parties there that night.

Food is great and the staff does well accommodating a large party. Our family was there yesterday with a party of 36+ people and separate checks and we had no problems.

I came here for dinner/happy hour with some coworkers on Thursday. Drinks were reasonably priced, but my dinner order got messed up. I asked for enchiladas suizas and got enchiladas with the red sauce… what?! I also asked for double rice instead of beans(since I don’t like beans) but got a plate with rice, enchiladas, and beans and then an additional mound of rice on a second plate on the side. I ate the enchiladas anyway, but it wasn’t what I was craving and the red sauce just didn’t seem to be anything special. I was not the only person at the table whose order didn’t exactly come out as ordered… Definitely not bad, and I’d give it another shot if I was back in the area, but I wouldn’t make a special trip out here.

It wasn’t my choice to come here, but I’m sure glad I did. I came here with a group of 8 and they quickly seated us and served us all several baskets of chips and bowls of queso and red salsa. I preferred the salsa since it is flavorful and much healthier than the thick gooey queso they serve here. I ordered the #11 special at lunch, which is called the Trio Plate($ 7.95). It consists of ground sirloin tacos, ground sirloin enchiladas and ground sirloin tostada. It also comes with rice and beans, cheese and sour cream, although they forgot to put the sour cream on my plate and I didn’t remember til after I had already left. Other coworkers ordered the chimichanga, the shrimp fajitas which looked great and the taco plate. I really enjoyed my plate, although I wish I had ordered the charro beans. The rice was just average but then again I’m not big on rice at mexican restaurants anyway. This is the original location, and consequently the first Don Carlos I have ever been too. Not too bad I must say. Service was attentive and quick, they came to refill our drinks and salsas many times. If I’m ever in the area, I’ll consider this as a lunch spot for sure.

My first knowledge of this place was due to a $ 10 gift certificate the restaurant gave to all the employees at my job. Otherwise, I would not have ventured to step a foot into this place. On a long hungry day at work, I decided to try this place out. I called in the order and drove order right at the beginning of my 30 minute lunch time because I didn’t know how far it was. I figured I would eat a little while it was hot and the rest for dinner after work. Well.. .THATDIDN’T HAPPEN! I was lead to the bar to get my take out order, which was fine since the tables were not vacant. I was already halfway through my lunch break driving and parking my car. I was about to get my order and hand the cashier my certificate when he tells me that I couldn’t use the cert because it’s not valid on the lunch special. «Understood,» I stated, «but I didn’t order the lunch special. I ordered from the regular menu.» «The certificate is for dine in only,» he said. «It doesn’t say dine in only» I recanted. «But it says one per table which means dine in only,» the man stated. Imagine what my face looked like after this meaningless banter and what I wanted to say, but the good in me took a breath and took one more chance to get them to side with my hungry, hard working soul: «I looked for the words dine in only, but did not see it. That would have told me automatically that this certificate was only dine in only in conjunction with the words „one per table.“ Plus, this it the only time I can make it over here because I work long hours and don’t live in this area. Could you please make an exception this time? I’m already half way through my lunch time.» The cashier tells me he understands – even whispers to me that he can’t do anything, but he will call the manager over to see what they’ll do. I’m thinking this will work in my favor being that I’m a new customer with a paying job.. .THATDIDN’T HAPPEN!!! I was told she could not do it. Ummmm YOU’RETHEMANAGER! You can pretty much do what you want to make a customer happy, but you know THATDIDN’T HAPPEN! She explains again that I have the lunch special which cannot be used with the certificate. AGAIN, not my error!!! Then she goes back to the fact that it’s only to be used to dine in. HONESTLY!!! would it have made sense to sit down and ask for a doggie bag two minutes later just to say I dined in? Plus, it was the peak of lunch time. Me ordering and picking up my order helped your @ss! No dishes to clean, no tables to prep! Common sense to many isn’t common evidently! By the time this exchange has went on, I’m looking at my watch by now and know that by the time I get back to work the only time I’ll have for lunch is to smell it, so exasperated I don’t have much to say but what I had already told the other guy because I was about to raise my voice and use some colorful language by then. But for what??? They gave me the certificate. She tells me that the only thing she could do was extend the date on the certificate. At that point, I wasn’t hungry anymore and was pissed off so I told the manager that that was ok – I don’t need your certificate that bad – you can have it back and walked out. Yep. When down just like that. The Unilocal reviews maybe spot on about the food, but don’t waste my time and play games. I did good not to make a scene, but ladies leave quietly and in this case so did my money because AIN“T NOBODYGOTTIMEFORTHAT!

This place is so good that I hesitated – and later forgot – to put it on the Unilocal map. Before I say anything else… ASKFORTHEAUTHENTICMENU! I always check menus online beforehand if I can. And thankfully I did for this place because the hostess only gave our party the normal menu. My friend and I had to go back and ask for the authentic menu. We ordered the beef tripe soup(menudo), agujas, and steak a la mexicana to share. The tripe is one of those things that I was very glad to have tried, but probably wouldn’t order again only for the sake of my arteries. After a much anticipated wait, the other two main meat dishes came out sizzling with warm tortillas. The meat was so flavorful and cooked to perfection, exactly what I would expect from a «no 1» restaurant. :) We finished off with some fried ice cream. I remember there was something peculiar with the fried ice cream, but I don’t recall the specifics. Either way, I’m pretty sure I was still very happy with it. I looked around our table, and everyone else’s food from the regular menu looked appetizing as well, if slightly less«authentic.» The portions were huge, probably even bigger in the realm of tex-mex portions. As we left, I noticed a poster for«Ladies Night» and I was seriously intrigued/tempted. Perhaps another time.

Food pretty good especially the Mexican rice and the frijoles a la charra. It seems like they increased the tomatoes in the red salsa to almost the consistency of tomato sauce. I would request some of the green or the spicier salsa. Portions are a good value for the money. Food comes out hot. If you want monster portions, get the Super Dinner which have a large beef taco, a tostada with a lot of cheese, guacamole salad, 3 enchiladas of you choice, and the usual beans and rice.

Food and service good. They offer a bottomless Mimosa for $ 2.99 until Noon(not sure if this is Sunday only or everyday). They keep the Mimosa’s coming. Would recommend for good Tex-Mex. If you are worried about the area, this restaurant sits next door to a Police station. :)

I go to eat here with my Dad about every month, and this place is pretty spot on. They got one thing over every other Tex-Mex place in town, free queso at lunch. That alone is pretty great but the food is pretty delicious as well. The prices are very cheap. You could come here split the Texas Style Burritos for $ 7.25, each one is a decent sized meal, and feed two for under $ 10. It is your classic Tex-Mex faire, everything is decent and you will leave satisfied. Also the service is pretty great, drink never gets empty, and the check isn’t hard to get either.
