Come here for margaritas and nothing else. That too, only if you must. Much better options in clear lake. Steer clear of this place. Slow, unsanitary, and unappetizing.

Good food at great prices but don’t come for lunch. During lunch the service is not nearly as good as dinner time. Also the place is always super hot(at least 80) they need to turn the AC down.

Worst customer service. They put hot tortilla soup in iced tea styrofoam cups. The plastic lid literally melted in the soup. They play stupid games to avoid any refunds. When I insisted, I was told Javier(the owner) says«no more service for you» Good to know a customer of 20 years is no longer welcome because you people put hot liquid in a cup designed for cold beverages. Adiós Javier.

Good food at a neighborhood Tex-Mex restaurant. Dozens of lunch choices. Great value. Friendly service. Not upscale, just all around good food.

One of the best margaritas I’ve ever had. At a great price. Hot save is very good as well.

Consistently cited for roaches and roach droppings. Not something I want in my chips and salsa. Yuck!

A friend who lives in the area recommended this place so I agreed to try it. The food was good, can’t lie. I’ve had better BUT I won’t return because I saw ants on my table. The manager appeared to be confused when I informed her. So yeah, no not returning. I was informed that the margaritas were really good though! Maybe I will go back to try one but we will see. Teo stars because the food was cool.

This was terrible. My server could barely speak English. The same went for the bartender. When it came to ordering they couldn’t understand what I was saying and then we got the wrong food and had the wrong ingredients. We had gotten an ingredient in our food that was an allergy to someone in our party. Out of all the Tex-Mex places on this road, this is by far the worst.

I have one question running through my mind– Why do people like this place? I went here tonight for the first time in several years hoping it would be as good as some of the reviews claim. It was HORRIBLE! First of all the FOOD was just TERRIBLE. The chips were thick, bland and hard. The salsa was nothing special and the green sauce was just ok. I ordered chicken fajitas and they came out on a heap of undercooked onions. The chicken itself were thin strips of undercooked meat with NO seasoning. I couldn’t even eat the charro beans they tasted so bad. I could go on and on about how bad the food was on my 4 friends plates, but it all had the same chracteristics: Horrifically gross. Next, the RESTAURANT and SERVICE was also TERRIBLE! The restaurant smelled like an old mop with dirty Pine Sol water because they were mopping while people were eating! Our waiter had so many tables spread around the restaurant we waited forever for refills. For some reason our food came out AFTER four other tables, who arrived after us, got their food. I’m not sure what that was about because none of us in our party ordered anything unusual. I could forgive bad service if the food was good but it was just so disgusting. Please take my advice: DONOTGOHERE! DONOTWASTEYOURHARDEARNEDMONEY! This is Texas and there are a multitude of Mexican restaurants that are a 100 times better than this catastrophe of a restaurant. I just hope I dont spend my night on the toilet with Montezuma’s revenge!

Very disappointed have not been here in a long time excited to try it out, wish we never did! I came here tonight with four other people. We saw four other groups of tables get here after we did but still got their food 1st. We had to wait about an hour to get out food and the place was only a quarter full ! The AC did not work and was very hot inside, should’ve sat outside in the hundred degree weather! Beef and chicken Fajitas were barely cooked not worth the wait. Watched the manager staring at us the whole time who never came over to even greet us or ask us how our experience was. Do not go here and eat go to Taco Bell instead! At least when you get the shits it won’t be as bad after eating Don Pico’s food. We are never ever ever going back!

Great Mexican food and fair prices! We started out with their queso dip and it was as expected. A whole bowl of melted cheesy goodness. The chips with their homemade salsas are very good. Not too salty. We had the carne asana chihuahua for dinner and it was pretty terrific. A wonderful flavor and the sautéed peppers brought a nice flavor to the meat. In addition, their margaritas are quite good. Not the best I’ve had, but they pack a punch. All in all, I will definitely be back to Don Pico’s. I would also recommend it to people in the area. It’s that good.

We eat here a lot but today we walked in and were blasted with the radio volume so loud you could only use sign language to communicate. Everyone walking in turned around and walked right back out. No one working seamed to even care so we left and are now sitting at Los Cucos our back up. Get a clue Don Picos. Customers don’t care about your loud ass news channel blaring in their ears.

Avoid like the plague. Last night I ordered beef fajita chalupas and my wife ordered a beef fajita salad. The fajita meet was ice cold. We told our waiter and he took our plates back to the kitchen. All they did was throw the cold meat back on the grill so then it was overcooked. I asked to speak to the manager and was told he was too busy working in the back. My daughter’s quesadilla plate was flavorless. Don Pico’s used to be a decent place for cheap Tex-Mex and potent margaritas. Now the food is bland, it’s obvious they don’t take pride in their work. Quite honestly, Chipotle is better. Go to Chipotle.

Fajitas Chihuahua = amazing This will sound snobby and heck, maybe I am a snob when it comes to Mexican food, but when we walked in I didn’t have super high expectations. It was absolutely packed and looked like it may be run-of-the-mill. However, the first bite of fajitas erased all worries. The meat was so tender and flavorful! Truly excellent. I actually don’t remember anything else about the meal because I was so enamored with the fajita meat. I’ll be back for fajitas again.

Tonight was the first time we’ve been here in more that a year. Soon after it opened we ate here a couple of times and found it too bland for our taste. We occasionally come here and share a plate of nachos and she gets one of their cheap but OK margaritas. Their nachos are not excellent but the place is close and when we don’t want to drive a ways we occasionally do the nachos. Service is never quick but it was verrry slow tonight. Parking is hectic. We had to park a long way away tonight and that’s typical. The parking lot seems to always be jammed and the isles are too small for the amount of cars. There are a lot of people driving up & down these cramped isles looking for a place to park. I’m always worried an impatient driver will sideswipe us. Tonight a large woman in a large SUV straddled one of the small isles and just kept coming. Inside everything is pretty much marginally OK, outside you take your life in your hands. If you don’t like spicy Mexican food and can abide the hectic parking this may be your place. UPDATE: We went tonight for the first time since the above review on 9−10−3014. Today, 6015 – 2016, the service was the worst ever and the nachos were terrible. I’m reducing my rating from 3 stars and vowing never come her again. ___ We’ve Eaten Out Every Meal for 25 years

Service is always great. The super fajita salad is amazing. Best Mexican salad in the area. On Saturdays the margaritas are $ 2. It’s a great place to just hang out and have fun. The sampler platter is really good also, it’s a must every time we come.

Came here on a Saturday and what a lovely treat to have a margarita at $ 2… and this is one of THEBEST margaritas I have ever had! It is not sweet, and it truly is a blend of tequila with that shot of lime and salt afterwards. They serve their chips with salsa and some green sauce. I imagine it to be something like a tomatillo sauce, but I may be wrong on that. But it was a great experience anyway. We split the big burrity with beef, and that was fine and dandy. It came with rice, refried beans, a small dash of the lettuce/cilantro salad thingy(lol) and some guacamole. For two people, that was more than enough. We couldnt even dig in to our chips and salsa. The place is whimsical, the food was great, service was great, it was fast and quite cheap. The décor is not something the Queen of England may applaude, but all in all, a wonderful and humble place. PLUS, did I mentioned the drinks specials? YES $ 2 margaritas! SIDENOTE: they may need to update that bathroom though?

This is a purely sentimental 5 stars. I grew up, and probably spent a better part of my life in Don Picos. Likewise, my Mexican food standards are derived from this restaurant, and honestly after tasting other Mexican food it’s hard to live up to the Don. The go to items here are the Margaritas $ 1.25 during happy«hours»(11 am-7pm) And the beef fajitas. If you go on Mon-Wed you can get fajitas for 2 for 14.95. Now if that’s not badass I don’t know what is. If you order anything else, it will still be good, but you will be robbing yourself of what makes this place a true local favorite. Not to mention, the service here is ludicrously fast, you can eat here faster than at McDonalds. Which may not be the best thing, but hey it’s delicious. Don’t ask questions. Unless that question is Do I need another margarita?
