If you’re looKing for samosa chat in downtown then this is it! Very good and authentic Indian food with great prices. You can’t go wrong with the chicken Tonka masala or the chat. Great place if you’re looking to spend less than 10 bucks.

I’ll start with the good. The shrimp po boy had a good flavor and the other items appeared to look good. Unfortunately, my experience wasn’t so pleasant. I ordered the shrimp po boy and was told it comes with chips and a drink. However, the sign specifies fries and a drink. I asked the lady about it and she said the sign is incorrect. Are you kidding me?! Why is it still up? I told her I wanted the fries bc that’s what it says on the sign. She then tried to argue with me about it and finally caved. That shot my whole first experience with this place that had great reviews I was excited to try. Disclaimer: the shrimp po boy only has 5 medium shrimp that they batter and make them look large. It doesn’t look like the picture and I didn’t think it was worth the $ 8.65 considering other items are much larger portions and cheaper. I would consider trying them again for the Indian food.

A little nondescript place in the tunnels off of McKinney. Fabulous biryani and tikka masala! I try to go at least once a week.

It’s Indian! It’s mildly chaotic, and the menu’s a little schizophrenic, but Deli Deluxe provides a delicious, filling, and cheap lunch in the tunnels. The curries are a warm tumble of spices and fragrance with a delightfully subtle heat in the back. Tuesdays and Thursdays are Rogan Josh special. It’s served with rice, yogurt, a choice(!!!) of naan, and a drink for…$ 9! Absolute steal for downtown lunch. Their ‘dry’ chana masala allows the firm chickpeas to shine through the heat. All of the curries are delivered up-and-in a hurry for those with limited lunch breaks, and the friendly service is refreshingly unfazed by the downtown lunch masses.

Great Indian food, friendly service. And a local hotspot for afternoon chai. Can get busy but service is typically pretty fast. I’ve had the biryani, chicken Ceylon, and tikka masala, all were great, but I think the pav samosa and samosa chaat are even better!

O my god! Where do i start? Poha, Upma, Alu paratha for breakfast! Lunch menu is exhaustive — Paneer Tikka masala, Veggie Rogan Josh, Pav bhaji being my favorites! Not to forget their chai time snacks– samosa and vada pav. I usually go there for breakfast as its tough to find a decent breakfast place that has no cheese or eggs. This is an absolute gem of Indian food in the downtown tunnel loop. Infact most of their dishes taste waaayyyyy more delicious and authentic than many other fancy, sit down Indian restaurants in Houston city. Customer service deserves a special mention for the unbelievable crowd this place has any time of the day and orders still come out super fast from the kitchen. Accolades to Mr. Maneesh, the man that runs this place for being super quick and efficient @ the same time.

I ordered the avocado chicken sandwich and it was very bland. The woman making it was sweet and attentive, but she had to look up at the board to see what came on the sandwich, which is a red flag for me. Next time I’ll try the Indian food, I’m sure it’s better.

This is my first time to Deli Deluxe at this location, and it did not disappoint. The front bar was a wonderful place to sit in a ‘holding’ position, until our table for four was readied. The cocktails were delightful, and viewing the kitchen with a full female complement, prepared us for creative Indian culinary delights. Sadly we did not experience Deli Deluxe presence on this occasion. The food is Indian with a twist, I would not say fusion per se, given the creative use of traditional Indian spices and curries. The lights in the restaurant are nicely designed, as is the square mesh depth effect undertaken with the windows. It did get particularly noisy in the room, given the restaurant was full, not sure if ceiling sound absorbents might help. We were served by a number of people — all really friendly, and we received good recommendations on the wines to try. Needless to say the food was excellent as usual — in particular the lamb Popsicle, and the quail cakes(on special). We look forward to going again to Deli Deluxe for another special occasion.

I have no idea why this place isn’t called something to indicate that they have AH-mazing Indian food, so I’m out to spread the word! I absolutely love, love, love getting their Tikka Masala lunch special. It comes with a decent serving of curried chicken, rice, a naan and yummy yogurt sauce, and a canned or fountain drink. All for under $ 10! The owner is also super nice and that only encourages me to return. You can get garlic butter on the Naan which I highly recommend. Also for a little snack, the pav samosa is basically a samosa with the sauces on a little bun. Yum! This is in the tunnels, so be aware there is no dedicated seating and it’s not open on weekends.

I’ve worked downtown for over 10 years, long enough to see this place in the tunnel change concept 3 or 4 times. But this iteration as «Deli Deluxe» has lasted by far the longest, and there’s a reason. A quirky little spot, they offer a daily selection of traditional American comfort food plates, plus made-to-order sandwiches, salads and wraps. It’s the classic Indian fare made and served here that keeps bringing me back. For Indian food options in Downtown Houston, Deli Deluxe is consistently my favorite. Their tikka masala is one of the best I’ve had, is always on the menu, and is offered in chicken and paneer varieties(they’ll make it as spicy as you like!). Dum biryani in vegetable and chicken options are also available. From time to time, they also have a very good rogan josh. Other Indian food selections include saag paneer, chana masala, chole bhature, vada pav, and delicious samosas. Dependable, quality Indian food, great prices, and gracious hospitality.

I always see so many people here for lunch but never really remember to go here myself. Today I decided to go and try a lunch combo posted, which was Beef Lasagna and 2 sides, roll, and fountain drink for $ 8.99. They offer Indian and American entrees as well as made to order sandiwches/wraps. So pretty eccletic offering at affordable price. I got my beef lasagna with green beans and mixed veggies. So glad to have fresh veggies as a side option! While paying, I heard someone order a samosa so of course I added one to my order as well. They are made to order so it comes out FRESH and Hot! The dipping sauce it comes with is spicy and good. My beef lasagna was excellent and actually had enough for two meals. I am going to try their other menu items because I am definitely coming back!

This tiny deli serves a hot plate of sliced turkey with rice and your choice of two sides and fresh dinner roll. I have to admit I would have skipped over the turkey had they not offered me a sample. It was the best turkey I’ve eaten in a long time. It was very flavorful and they give you enough for two meals. The employees are very nice. I can’t wait to go back and try something else. $ 8.60 for meal with drink and enough left over for dinner tonight.

After many lunches here have to update– if you want good food, cheap and fast with the friendliest service– GOHERE. Now I only eat the Indian food but I was told the fried fish is excellent as well, so GOHERE and enjoy — remember to tell them you want it spicy if you want the spice. the regular is not spicy(unless you are spice averse then you may say it’s spicy) but for those of us you like it hot– ask for spicy(I always get the special and never have been disappointed, even the straight veggie meals rock) and you get a drink with lunch special(their iced it has always been fresh so try it). Enjoy

Really love this unique little place down in the tunnels. They’ve got such an eclectic mix of foods here, you’re guaranteed to find something you’ll like. Whether it’s po-boys or pasta or meatloaf or Indian food or breakfast tacos– chances are they’ve got it at some point in time. I’ve only had the Indian food here, and it’s quite fantastic. Fragrant, flavorful, and spicy. The heat is notched up pretty high, but not to the point where I can’t handle it. Also, service is fast and friendly — the employees here are great and easy to talk to. Definitely one of the best spots in the tunnels!

Great Food. I always order a meal with the garlic butter naan. My fava are the chicken tandoori masala and the chicken rogangosh. The best part is you get FREE soda with the meals. They also serve some chaat items like samoaa, vada pav & bhel puri. My friend also recommends their tea but I have yet not tried it. Always a good idea when you speak to the Indian guy behind the counter to start with«Kemcho » … he smiles and starts a looooooong convo ;)

Deli Deluxe is located in between Shipley’s Donuts and Miller’s under the Cameron office building. $ 8 for the chicken tikka masala, which came with rice and a piece of naan. There were only 3 small chunks of chicken… I can’t help but feel a bit cheated. I usually make 2 meals out of any lunch I buy, but that’s out of the question here, because my second meal would just be white rice. It was nothing special, but I guess standards must be adjusted for dining in the tunnels. I will concede that the butter naan was amazing. Not all naan is created equal– this one’s a full step above the rest. The owner said that on Mondays and Wednesdays, they have dum biryani, which is a special way of preparing biryani. Value isn’t great, but if you gotta satisfy an Indian food craving, this is your best bet downtown.

Good selection of Indian and American dishes. DD has decent prices, and exceptional service. This is a small place next to Miller’s in the tunnel. Every time I pass by it is busy. I see quite a few Indian folks who frequent DD, so the Indian food should be fairly authentic. During my first visit, I saw the stuffed bell peppers and wanted to give them a try. The chicken, rice and carrots were delicious with the bell pepper. I ordered a side of tasty creamed spinach and a delicious, flaky, garlic butter naan. My second side was the mixed vegetables, and they were good. Don’t forget to grab a chai after your meal. Great way to top it off. Also, ask for the garlic butter naan. Manish is very friendly and helpful. One day, I forgot to order a samosa, and ordered one after I paid for my meal. I was told not to worry about paying for the samosa… just pay for it the next time I visit. Wow. I expect this type of over-the-top service in the small town I grew up in, but not in Houston. Manish recommended that I try each of his Indian dishes, starting at the top of his menu and working my way down. So far, I have tried the: * dum biryani with chicken: very spicy and delicious. Huge portion, enough for two meals. Recommended. * chicken tikka masala: good blend of spices, not very spicy. Big chunks of chicken with a creamy, red sauce. Less oil residue than the vindaloo, but I think I like the taste of the spicy vindaloo more. * chicken vindaloo: good and slightly spicy, but a small grease film floats to the top and turns me off. * chicken rogan josh: Isn’t he a singer? This is probably the spiciest sauce at DD. Delicious and recommended. I had to eat more naan and yogurt sauce with this meal to calm the flames, but I really liked it. The chicken was good, but DDs rogan josh sauce would be great with lamb. * samosa: fried vegetable goodness, like a vegetarian empanada. Not spicy. Very tasty with the included green sauce. Order one with your meal. DD is not a big place and there is some seating inside and just outside in the tunnel. Best to hit DD at non-busy times. Do an early or late lunch.
