In probably one of the smelliest food courts I’ve been in lies an authentic Indian restaurant. I’ve only tried their chicken biryani and it’s pretty good. They are not shy with their spiciness but they do warn you before buying. Prices are not bad and is a good option if you want North Indian food in the tunnels. They are also one of the few places that stay open during holidays when I went for food during the last few weeks of December 2015. The food here is comparable to what you would find on Hilcroft.

The best authentic Indian food in downtown. Some of us don’t have the luxury at lunch of traversing over to Mayuri’s Westheimer location or down to Belaire for the good stuff, so we must suffer what we are given in the tunnels. Those who eat in the tunnels know that Mayuri is a welcome and flavorful change from the usual and mundane. I have had the chicken tikka masala and the goat curry, and both were absolutely delicious. Beware of the bones in the goat curry, but soak up the rich broth with your homemade and grilled naan. Pour some of that tikka masala over the fresh jasmine rice, and your tunnel lunch has now become something special. Lines can get long and stay long here, but it usually moves pretty quickly.

An unexpected find in the McKinley garage tunnel; it had the longest lines of the group of vendors next to each other. Office people of diverse background. Most of them went for the north Indian curry options which looked dull in its styrofoam cup so I went with the south Indian dosas instead. My masala dosa was made to order; crisp with the potatoes on the side with ginger, tomato, and coconut chutney. I’ve had better sambhar elsewhere but overall a delicious and welcome/rare find.

I had eaten at their Westheimer location earlier so my expectations were high. Unfortunately, they were not met. Don’t get me wrong. The food is decent. I tried their mysore masala dosa & the chicken biryani. The quantity is good but for some reason it is not as tasty as the other location. Maybe it is a different cook or maybe the fact they seem to be in a rush all the time is a factor. Hope they can improve because they are currently the only decent ‘udipi’ place in downtown.

Hear ye! Hear ye! Come forth all corporate zombies aimlessly browsing the downtown tunnels and eating repetitive bland panninis or worst, Salata 5 days a week. Spare your $ 11 on a crap salad and walk a little further to Mayuri. Tunnel culture is often«take what you can get» food that’s pricier than an airport food court. Mayuri is so delicious that it goes beyond the idea of just settling. It’s fresh cooked Indian food, made to order naan with each serving, and the best(and I’m Pakistani and have had my fair share of best of the best South Asian food) raita(yogurt dip) I’ve ever had. Grab a meat or a vegetarian combo and you’ll have enough left over to take home. But, I highly doubt you’ll have left overs, the food is just that delicious. Unlike other Indian restaurants, it isn’t dripping with grease or overwhelming enough to have you reaching for Pepto an hour later. Mayuri changes their menu daily and regularly has made to order Dosas that are a total delight. Hopefully on your next visit, you can even have the pleasure of grabbing a mango lassi.

Went here on a day off to meet my husband, who works downtown, for lunch. What a fun experience; we’re new to Houston and he’s been telling me about the tunnel system. So cool! I love curry, and I was excited to try this place. It was so great! Chicken curry’s flavor was delicious and mild; naan was so fresh and the rice was cooked very well; quantity was more than expected. We also tried the HUGE dosa which was really light and the sauces were very good. It’s a good thing I don’t work downtown, because i would probably eat here way too much.

Stopped by here on a whim today and I am glad I did. I had the Chicken Tikki Masala lunch special, it came with Jasmine rice, a salad(if you can call it that) and Naan right out of the Tandoor. The chicken was flavorful, the rice was well cooked and the naan was perfect. The«salad» was actually a really nice palette cleanser. Over the next few weeks i will go back and try something different each time. I call this a win!

This is my new favorite lunch place downtown. For a decent price you get a large quantity and everything I’ve had here is delicious. I’ve been going at least twice a week.

Finally tred this new joint when i caught a lull in the line during the noon rush. Spicy chicken curry combo with a drink for $ 10. Pretty effecient set up so the line moved quick. Curry was wicked hot, nan was hot off the stovetop. Rice was fine. Look forward to trying the goat and the dosa.

Mayuri express is a great spot for a quick yet tasty lunch. I ordered the vegetarian curry of the day and it came with rice a lot of warm buttery naan and a little salad. Under $ 10 for a full meal and right amount of spice and you don’t have to wait long for your food. The taste was pretty authentic and is reflective of their main restaurant. Highly recommended. very very first class!

Decent quality, decent price and decent quantity. Not often you’ll find good mix of the three but this place justifies price with quantity and quality. Quality of naan, dosa was really good compared to quality of paneer or other curries. Most of the India restaurants, I’ve visited, they either serve too little(eg Bombay Pizza) or they are too expensive for lunch. Mayuri Express has been able to find reasonable middle ground.

Not yet the same food quality as the main, Westheimer location, but a good start. ME is where Rico’s Mexican Food was located in the McKinney Place Garage restaurant area(tunnel level). I ordered the goat curry with a drink. I received my food on a styrofoam tray. The curry sauce was slightly spicy and delicious, but was a bit watery. Plenty of meat came with the meal, and the goat meat was tender and tasty. A large naan came with the meal, cut into four pieces. The naan was hot, buttered, flaky, and delicious. A small, side salad came with the meal, but it was just a few pieces of lettuce and a few sliced carrots… no dressing. About ¾ of a cup of rice also came with the meal. Soft drinks are self-serve, but you have to cross-back over the line to get your drink. My lunch total came to less than $ 10, and overall was a good meal. I will return. UPDATE7÷20÷2015 On my last visit, I noticed that ME has cut-back on portion size, but is still charging the same amount. Not cool. Deducting one star for that mistake!
