I called in to order a whole fried cat fish to go. Came by to pick up the order and paid $ 15 for it. Got home, opened it up and guess what? They gave me 3 big pieces and a bunch of cajun fries! Do not recommend this place unless you come to the place and order the food yourself. If you speak Spanish, then ordering over the phone shouldn’t be a problem. My experience from speaking to the staff over the phone was she had a thick Hispanic accent. Had nothing against her accent but it could be due to her English listening skill. Just speaking based on what’d happened to me! Quality of cat fish I got was fresh. Don’t like the cajun creole style, too dry and over crunchy for me. Cajun fries is just like what you would get at Popeyes. Mediocre! Overall, food is not worth the price. I would recommend going to Hank’s seafood near Cavalcade. Fried catfish there is delicious and much more reasonably priced.

My favorite Cajun restaurant on the north side! Great dishes at a decent price. I frequent here often. *Also it’s even cheaper if you pay in cash. My favorite dish is the shrimp étouffée.

This food rivals anything you can get in New Orleans and the staff is always friendly. I recommend the étouffée or the crawfish bisque. They also have excellent cornbread to go on the side. Bonus, if you pay cash at dinner they discount your meal 15%.

This place is just incredible! The Étouffée Combo Plate is anything and everything that is great! The flavors are spot on and cooked to perfection. Since I travel for work I will say this, anythime I am close enoughfor lunch I will come here. Employees were friendly, order got to me very fast and was hot and fresh! No complaints, don’t change anything!

First time here, ordered through the phone for pickup. I ordered the chicken strips, but they gave me the fried fish lunch. They gave me the wrong order. I don’t like fish, but since I only had 30 minutes left for lunch I couldn’t turn around and exchange it so I tried it. The fish and the fries were dry. Definitely not coming back.

Food was delicious, and fresh, and since we went during Texans playoffs, it wasn’t packed at all. Staff was very friendly and patient, and knew menu items very well. Location is almost hidden by the grocery store and strip, but it is a nice seafood restaurant with inexpensive prices.

Been coming here for years! One of my faves for Cajun food. Love the Cajun pasta although the shrimp can taste unclean some times. The pasta sauce and andouille sausage is the best in town. The garlic cheese bread is very good as well. Crawfish eoutoufee is excellent here. Got a nice spice to it. I also really like the chicken tenders and catfish. You will love everything on the menu here.

So yesterday I was passing by here and decided to go on in and eat. I use to eat here a lot when I was younger because it was one of my parents favorite spots, but I haven’t been back in about 3 years at least. When we walked in it was only one other couple in there eating just a slow day I guess. We went up to the counter and they told us if we were eating there we could just sit down and they would bring us menus, that’s a change since the last time I was there. I ordered cajun pasta and my boyfriend ordered fried shrimp, crawfish and onion rings. I didn’t like my pasta at all! It had some weird taste to it, but on the other hand my boyfriend’s food was really good nicely seasoned and everything… I’m not sure if I’ll be back.

Outside of Louisiana this restaurant is probably one of the most overlooked for Cajun food in the City of Houston. This is my second visit, the 1st of which was from an introduction by a customer. The 1st visit was for seafood gumbo which was an excellent dark brown roux with generous portions of fish, shrimp and oysters. Today’s visit was for crawfish bisque which was likewise generously portioned and reasonably priced. There is no question that if you are interested in Cajun food in Houston at an ice edible value you should truly consider this restaurant.

This is a nice dive to grab some Cajun deliciousness! I always order the crawfish etoufee and it’s always on point. The restaurant isn’t fancy, but you can count on leaving full and satisfied.

I came here for lunch recently and really enjoyed the food! The location and outside throws you off, but it is much better than what it seems. the seafood is fresh and they have a great selection. the other people I came with loved their food as well, there are even options for people who do not want seafood. The only thing I did not like was the fact that it took forever to get my food. i figured it would be a little since it was busy and lunch time, but everyone else except me got their food and I had to remind them twice to bring it out. When they finally brought it out, it was not even the dish I ordered but I was hungry and had to go so i ate it anyways. wasn’t a big deal since I enjoy all seafood but anyone else would have been much more annoyed than I was. I would love to come back here again!

I liked the food here so much I ate here two days in a row while visiting from Austin… There are many things that I miss about being back in the«Bayou City» and fresh seafood cooked right is one of them. So, if you need to have it… come here… off the beaten path. and tucked away in a strip center. Over the two days eating here, I ordered: fried shrimp, fried oyster, fried crawfish, fried gator, and fried fish… I also tasted the grilled fish and chicken fingers some others ordered. all done perfectly. My biggest compliments and loves go to the fried oysters and fried gator. The oysters were not over cooked and the gator was cooked at a good high heat to seal in the flavor and the touch of peppery spice that they made them with. Oooo-oui sha… good stuff here for true! Overall the atmosphere is family friendly and clean. I watched over two days how this was THE spot to meet for lunch or after church meals. I may not travel this area often, but the Unilocal reviews led me to this pearl in the oyster that I may not have found otherwise… can’t wait to go back again!

it was okay not great. I had crawfish étouffée and a side order of fries, my guest had boudin over dirty rice. The boudin was spicy dirty rice was not so great it did not have much flavor or not typical dirty rice flavor. the crawfish étouffée was about the same, not much flavor and bland. Fries were great and the side order was very generous. The restaurant was busy a lot of people. This was my first visit and will give it another try with another dish.

Ignore the sketchy strip center, and possibly even worse parking lot. Ignore the fact it smells like cleaning chemicals when you enter(which to me indicates that they place value on keeping the place clean) and enjoy the food. Clearly they use real seafood, not frozen, no chewy rubbery crawfish tails here, just sweet, briney and delicious — etoufee is easily one of the best I’ve ever had. Fried shrimp are butterflied and pretty large, no fishy nastiness here just good well cleaned and lightly fried shrimp — ate those until I was so full I could hardly breathe(not an exaggeration at all). Dirty rice is pretty darn good too, as were the fried crawfish tails(easily the best I’ve ever had). The only real misses here were the french fries(soggy, tasteless, unsalted which is fine) just avoid those get the cole slaw or dirty rice instead. And weirdly the cocktail sauce wasn’t all that great, no horseradish taste at all more like ketchup with hot sauce — seemed strange but a quick dash to the fridge for some store bought cocktail sauce and all was remedied, on a positive note the better half enjoyed the tartar sauce(I’m not a real fan of that). I’m am spoiled on BB’s gumbo(the original location only) but theirs is really good here too easily top 5 in the city, behind only restaurants that are 2−4x more expensive — good large shrimp, not muddy tasting, nice fresh vegetables(okra, onion, peppers) flavorful broth, could use a bit more rice but whose complaining when we ordered about an hour before they closed for the evening. Prices are reasonable given the quality, service is very fast, and the people were extremely nice both in person and on the phone. We’ll definitely be back, sure we wish they weren’t on the outskirts of Inhood, I mean Inwood, but given the quality of the food, the excellent prices, and the excellent service we received we’ll definitely be back. And as someone else astutely pointed out, you’ll never be able to eat that much food in a single sitting, you’ll easily have leftovers for lunch the next day. Kudos, and well done Cajun Town.

Disappointing and painful is a good description of my experience. Pros — — Pay cash and save 15% for orders over $ 20 — Plenty of seating — Friendly Staff Cons — — I almost broke a tooth on the fried oysters I tried to eat two of them they both had pieces of oyster shell left on the oyster hidden by the breading I left the rest there is no excuse for this. — They stopped selling their amazing«catfish» now they serve«fried fish» the«fried fish» is «Basa» from Vietnam that’s a real game changer in a negative kind of way. Gumbo meh Fried Shrimp pre-breaded Oysters(buyer beware) I can’t do this again

Came here for a quick lunch break today. The food was definitely good but not amazing or anything. Ordered at 12:40 pm and got my food at 12:52(I needed to leave at 1:00 so I was watching the clock). +1 for being quick! I got the shrimp étouffée with white rice and also nibbled on some fries that a friend got. The shrimp étouffée was good — it almost reminded me of curry — but it didn’t amaze me or anything. The texture of the shrimp was right but I think some stronger flavors would have helped. It was also very oily but I didn’t really notice until I got to the bottom of the dish. The fries were also good — not addicting — but definitely worth getting. Prices were a little high for lunch in my opinion: more than $ 10 for a meal you can probably finish in one serving. I would come back again, at least until I find something better. This wouldn’t be an automatic go-to place though.

Thanks to my friend Evelyn Starr for telling me about this place. We’ve been eating here for YEARS. it’s on corner of N. Houston Rosslyn & Little York. New item since my last visit was grilled salmon & I gotta say it was excellent, large portion, moist & delicious. We also had grilled talapia & grilled snapper. Any of the fried combo platters are excellent. Love their shrimp & onion rings. Not a fan of fish or seafood, not to worry, they have the biggest chicken strip platter around, not only is it huge but nicely seasoned with a lite crispy batter and finger lickin mustard sauce… yum, served on top of a huge platter of french fries. over the years we have brought everyone we know, friends & family, in and out of towners, it’s always a winner! just a clean, simple joint with great food.
